On per person basis, how is America compared to China? 1.4 millions on 300 million for us...3.8 million on 1.3 billion for them. We are bigger.

Name me the best aircraft China is making...and compare it to F18 or F15..please.

Aegis? We are way beyond that, if you believe in Janes...

How about anti ballistic missle defense...they have none yet...

If they have to depend on Russia for technology transfer, they cannot be too advance..

OK, on Tibetians and other issues, as an American, I know better to keep my mouth shut. We have Indians, Eskimos, and Hawaiians. I don't want to be hypocritical.

For your info, the generals that made the statement of attacking Californa was retired...per force.

If we don't buy from China, half of their population could be starving. They make the bucks to buy food from us to keep their people from starving. Do you know Chinese are much better off now than any other time in past 150 years?

"Warner, any country that buys used aircraft carriers from Russia to refurbish into restaurants and tourist traps are not very interested in grabbing lands from its neighbor.

Yep, the only aircraft carrier China has is now a tourist attraction.

And you tell me they are our biggest threat!…LOL"

1. Tibetans would argue the land-grab point. China has eliminated most of the monasterys in Tibet, moved in Chinese settlers to a majority, changed the language of Tibet to Chinese, and is building transport systems to move the raw materials of Tibet back to the industry of China. Monks who refuse to sign statements against the Dali Lama suffer severe fate or death.

2. China is in massive military buildup, for instance their new Aegis class systems stolen from us by their spies
http://www.canadafreepress.com/2005/cover082505.htm

3. Unlike Russia, China by demanding transfer of industrial technology and machinery to build the cheap toys for the West, is now building cell phones, optics and most advanced electronics. They may not be the design engineers, but they possess the engineering specs and tools.

For the same reason, that they are becoming sole manufacturer of many goods, China is gaining the power to shut off supply of critical items to us. They also now have the ICBM guidance systems thanks to Clinton, and have already made public threats to use such against the US.

4. While articles like this commentary by a Chinese military leader:
http://www.theepochtimes.com/news/5-8-8/31055.html

cannot be verified, the book 'Unrestricted Warfare' by Col. Qiao Liang and Col. Wang Xiangsui was a best seller published by the People's Liberation Army Literature and Arts Publishing House in China. The English translation of this book carries on the back cover this statement by a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Thomas Moorer:

"You need to read Unrestricted Warfare because it reveals China's plan in its coming war with America... China thinks it can destroy America by using these tactics".

Unrestricted Warfare is chilling because it suggested years before 911 the bombing the of World Trade Center, or attacks by Bin Laden as assaults that penetrate the weakness of America's defenses. By the time of this book, China was already entering mutual agreements with the Taliban in Afghanistan, and Bin Laden. On the day of 911 I read of a new agreement to provide assistance to the Taliban at a Singapore news site.

(Interesting that the authors considered Soros to be a greater terrorist threat than Bin Laden)

On the other hand, if you keep buying the cotton, you can't criticize the plantation. China does use slave labor. Our middlemen take obscene profits. And Americans keep buying the plantation produce to save a penney.

If the ChiCom can keep the country stable, then they are worth their pay in gold. Believe me....

1.3 billions can be a pretty bad mess if they all go wild...

Our trade deficit is helping them to stabilize the country by providing the poor folks jobs. 3 dollars a day may not sound much to you but it is enough to feed a family over there.

As Teng said " Stability is above all."

The ChiCom know it too. They do not attack Taiwan because they cannot risk causing instability to the country!

We have positioned our rapid strike nuclear force at Guam to assure the ChiCom that they should just mind their own business and we'd be fine.

So far, so good...

Easy, Defector,

I like to think I <em>am</em> realistic about China. They are an enemy to us, but I don't see any benefit for them to be unstable. However, if they were to be "preoccupied" with an insurgency or civil disobedience I would be more relaxed about their intentions.

They aren't stupid. I'm sure you've heard of <a href="http://www.nti.org/db/china/norinco.htm" rel="nofollow">NORINCO</a>. This "capitalist" company is run for the benefit of their military no matter claims to the contrary. They are large, but I know the Red Army isn't efficient or as battle ready as we are. They'll never invade us like some conspiracy theorists think. They don't have the transport capacity to do that.

Sure they bought weapons systems and such from Russia, but they also stole - or were given in the case of the Clinton administration - plenty of advanced materiel of ours.

Things may work out as you say, but for anyone to hope it will happen within the next few years is the height of self-delusion. We're stuck with them for the foreseeable future, but let's not sugarcoat their intentions toward us and other free countries.

btw Warner
Capitalism often breeds democracy; the Chinese govt has had a very hard time keeping its peoples' complaints quiet and they're losing more and more control on their western provinces as farmers are doing more of whatever they want. It might take a little longer in a big country but they will turn democratic soon enough.

Btw I'd like to introduce you all to one of my political scientists theories that I fell in love with

Countries that have McDonalds restaurants in them do NOT go to war with one another

Al Qeada is not doing business with us, for crying out loud. We are feeding China right now with our trade deficit. If you want to further your political aganda against China for China's enemies, please think twice. there are 1.3 billion mouths to be fed there. If China is to become unstable, no one would be spared from the impact.

I am no friend of China but I know damn well that our allies(Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Philipine, and Singapore) would be in serious trouble if China becomes unstable.

If you think mere capitalism will save us from China you are sadly mistaken. They do not care about the econmy except to the point where it enlarges their military.

China is our biggest threat and most dangerous enemy after Wahhabist terrorism.

The Israelis think its a load of BS, as do I. And if they do and USE it on the Israelis, there won't be a palestinian left in the territories to regret the use of them.

Btw the Stalin article is very interesting; alot of people say that Hitler was the most evil man of the 20th century. As a Jew its hard to disagree with such but I think Hitler is held as the most evil man because his crimes were brought to light. Stalin and Mao had worse crimes if the numbers are even partially true but their crimes were never revealed in their full horror. Stalin has, especially in the last five years, gone through a great rehabilitation in reputation. And the big reason for such is not that people agree with his terror tactics but because he made Russia feel like a superpower as opposed to teh Tsar who made a superpower feel like a colony. There's a great desire for a return to glory in Russia and Stalin was seen as the man who caused that to happen.

I'm very suprised at that lack of comments on the Pali's claiming they have over 20 types of WMD's. This is especially important since they have kidnapped an Israeli soldier and Israel is getting ready to try and force the return. If the pali's do have them, and do use them there will be a yiddish shitstorm so big that the 7 day war will look like a girly slap fight.

If the pali’s do have them, and do use them there will be a yiddish shitstorm so big that the 7 day war will look like a girly slap fight.

Warner, ScottG,

Let us be a little bit more realistic about China. They have 1.3 billion mouths to feed. I think if they can feed them moutns they are doing a great deed to the world already. Take a look at the African continent, what do you see? Stavation and turmoil. Do you want to see us pushing that country into the same sad state like Africa?

There are some who think China is a bigger threat to us than Islamic terrorism or Russia. I beg to differ. Their technologies are so far behind I have yet to see them design and produce a fighter better than our F16. There ships are noisy and slow. Their submarines are perfect targets. And they are still buying those bulky fighters from the Russian. If Russian cannot cut the grit, what make you think China can?

Their armed forces are perfect for keeping their people at bay, but not good enough to challenge our forces, not yet.

The real villian behind Saddam and Iran is still the Russian. They are the shadow kingpin behind Syria. The Russian has been and still is the only instigator in the middle east. No wonder Bush is pissed. He thought Putin was supposed to be his friend.

Beside, China is doing more business with our country than Russia and Europe combined. It will be impossible to tell Microsoft, Starbucks, McDonald, WalMart, Nike, Dell, Yahoo, Google, KFC, Boeing, etal to cut tie with China.

There are those that recommended people to dicest into India. Indians have been investing into these propaganda machines in America. Latest I heard is that Apple, after invested millions into setting up a software development center in India, closed shop and pulled out after only a few months there. Apple can work with the Chinese, Microsoft can work with the Chinese, but many cannot work with the Indians. I wonder why.

It is to our best interest that China is to remain stable. Regarding China, I am with Bush.

I just posted a piece on how dangerous China is on my blog...
<a href="http://www.publiusforum.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow">China's Coming Collapse A Danger to Us All</a>.

I think we have more to fear from China than about anything other than Wahhabist ideology. And, all these claims that capitalism will save us from them is wishful thinking!

easy87us,

We're supposed to be better than that...Kerry, Murthaf****, et al says so. Why, if we were more "European," we'd haul the guy in front of the International Criminal Court.

But I forget, he's less of a criminal than President Bush....

Murtha might as well climb up in a clock tower in Baghdad and pull a <a href="http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/mass/whitman/index_1.html" rel="nofollow">Charles Whitman</a> for all the good pulling out will do. The good citizens of Iraq have asked us to stay. Hell, they are begging us to stay. What part of that doesn't Murtha get?

Pulling out is the moral equivlent of <a href="http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/mass/whitman/index_1.html" rel="nofollow">Austin, August 1, 1966</a>.

The man is a complete embarassment to America and the Marines. His motto seems to be, Semper Fi, unless it gets tough, then cut and run.

Wow, so many topics condensed into one post. As to Kos, the beginning of what might be a media dogpile makes me wonder if the left never liked him. If so, he was a thorn in their side they had to tolerate because he had influence and could draw contributions. Perhaps "Ko$ola" is what they need to be rid of him.

Let's see, what else did Allah touch on? Oh, yes! The Russians are in love with John Bolton. What? Stalin? Oh. Sorry, I must have confused the mustaches.

Why on earth should someone who confronts a murderous thug be charged with anything? The regime in China is illegitimate and always will be. They may be the de facto rulers, but they'll never be the true rulers.

Hu Jintao should have been arrested not feted when he arrived here. The sooner we treat the Chinese government as they deserve, the sooner it might fall. Better for us, and better for the Chinese.
