Questions from the White House press corps about the government monitoring financial transactions? Plenty. Questions about the terror bust in Miami? Not so much.
Wish I could have shown you more, but I had to cut some of the substantive stuff to show you TS getting snippy with Helen.
There’s been a lot written this morning about the Times but Andy McCarthy beats ‘em all. Don’t miss Spruiell’s encounter with a lightweight, either.

Go get ‘em Tony.

The press corp. has flown the coop. Too much competition for a downhill spiraling MSM. The situation really is out of control as are the many Whitehouse correspondents. Tony Snow is making them look like the monkeys they are.
Shmo on June 23, 2006 at 12:39 PM
Bill Keller is a traitor. Period.

“Lightweight?” Ouch!
Jim Treacher on June 23, 2006 at 1:00 PM
Tony’s Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!
I wish he woulda been behind that podium in ‘03.
BirdEye on June 23, 2006 at 1:00 PM
You realize that the room, desks, phone lines, data lines, and environmental controls (AC and HEAT) that Journalists use in the White House and other Government Press Rooms use are paid for by Taxpayers. I have already written the White House demanding that the Press Credentials of the NY Times and LA Times be revoked immediately.

A lightweight in some ways.
A heavyweight in others.
Allahpundit on June 23, 2006 at 1:02 PM
Some one needs to look deeply into the activities of the traitors James Risen and Eric Lichtblau. They just have to have multiple skeletons in their al Qaeda closets. These card carrying communists(imo) probably vacation in Syria and pray 5 times a day. They probably pay dues to any anti-American organization they can find. As insanely treasonous as all this leaking secrets is, the two satan twins will most likely be awarded a pulitzer.
They should be tried, convicted, and shot by firing squad. PERIOD.

I am glad Bush allows Tony to do his job instead of thell his press guy to be “nice and friendly”, “tolerance”…
Bush has a lot to learn that politics is not doing home economic. Reagan dod not get to the top for being nice. He got there by showing his muscle and checkmated Tip O’Neal.
Reagan’s most famous one liner…”Here you go again…”
Bush must learn this. Bush must know that being compassionate is in your heart only. You must kill the tiger if you have to to protect Americans, may that tiger be the liberals or ACLU!
Love only your base. Democrats are someone you have to work with. Intimidate them, break their spirit, subdue them..do whatever you want to bring them in line.
But you must love and obey the demand of your own base. This is your home, your family.
They are your enemy. You must never be compassionate to your enemy. That is appeasement, not compassionate. Nothing is more cruel than betraying your own family!
Now, drop that Amnesty Bill!
easy87us on June 23, 2006 at 1:12 PM
What is wrong with our gov’t??? When are we going to see these clear violations of national security laws prosecuted? How many times do the NYT and these a**holes have to expose vital national secrets before some law enforcement agency does something??
Clark1 on June 23, 2006 at 1:13 PM
Bill Keller (or whatever his real name is) should be immediately arrested for TREASON and sent to Saudia Arabia for questioning.
gary on June 23, 2006 at 1:14 PM
Fine by me that they are not questioning about the Miami Terrorist incident. So long as we keep harrassing wannabe terrorist thugs here in the States.
This will change if we get a Democrat in the executive office. We’ll go back to hearing about EPA standards, Interns and then Boooooooom!, again. (God forbid the Boom part)
ar_basin on June 23, 2006 at 1:22 PM
The media in the country is the enemy . . . particularly the New York Times, Washingotn Post, and the Los Angeles Times. Their treasonous behavior was not what the framers intended a “free press” to be. They’re using our Constitution to justify their irresponsible garbage. It’s time to stop this nonsense and treat them like an enemy of the Republic.
rplat on June 23, 2006 at 1:22 PM
I’m looking for more presonses like those Tony gave to Helen Thomas in this clip. I want them to be cutting and humorous just so everyone in the “class” can laugh at her. She’s got to be the proponent of the recent push in our school systems for the “There are no stupid questions” movement, because she is certainly living that dream. Yes there are stupid questions, and more importantly, there are stupid people. Helen, this is where you raise your hand.
StoutRepublican on June 23, 2006 at 1:24 PM
The White House should consider just release printed material and forget about these exchanges. The internet is where they should release info to, not through these powerless lowly circulated press.
easy87us on June 23, 2006 at 1:36 PM
Tony should be able to throw objects at reporters who do not behave with proper decorum. I’m thinking good objects for this might be oranges, tomatoes or baseballs. Of course, if struck by such an object the dessicated Helen Thomas might explode in a cloud of dust. Although to be fair to Helen, she is completely impartial. Yep, she told Hugh Hewitt she is, and to borrow a line from Cosmo Kramer: “A story like that’s gotta be true!”
Bellicose Muse on June 23, 2006 at 1:39 PM
Helen Thomas is spreading more falsehoods:
For her advice on what the Democrats should say to win:

If these people weren’t publishing intelligence operations, you’d have to feel sorry for the press. They ask the most moronic questions and then look at you like a monkey trying to figure out a math problem. Tony is just turning them into pretzels and they actually think they’re smarter.
Keep it up Snow, your helping to boost the presidents’ popularity just with what your doing.
Defector01 on June 23, 2006 at 2:12 PM
i saw the press conference on Fox live today and almost spit my dr. pepper i was laughing so hard. Tony definitely put Helen in her place. I only wish I could have seen her face.
pullingmyhairout on June 23, 2006 at 2:24 PM
you really wanted to see her face?
when did you start drinking? 6am?

No let’s not see Helen’s face. For.The.Love.Of.God.
Iblis on June 23, 2006 at 2:28 PM
Maybe its time for our own “media jihad”.
Every citizen of this great nation still has the right to make a citizen’s arrest Not to just “send a message”, but to serve justice. Hundreds of americans taking a stand on this issue would be a beautiful turning point.
dapope on June 23, 2006 at 2:54 PM
THIS WOULD BE A DREAM
Republicans in the Senate or House introduce a bill that would clearly make it illegal to publish our secrets. Then, watch the Dems scramble and try to explain why they would want to vote against a bill like that. I want to hear Kerry or Teddy defend the NYT or LA Times right to publish US secrets. Yea…that would be a dream!
SparkyFD on June 23, 2006 at 3:00 PM
Time to put the old mule Helen out to pasture.
Wade on June 23, 2006 at 3:08 PM
Helen Thomas, the White House press corpse.
JammieWearingFool on June 23, 2006 at 3:28 PM
Well, she can’t help it, she has Bush anxiety. like the rest of the MSM.
Compassionate Crank on June 23, 2006 at 3:39 PM
Sparky,
We all live the spectacle of your “dream”(or close enough), everyday. Maybe I’m alone in feeling sick and tired of do-nothing commissions, launching probes, holding sweeps-week congressional hearings and writing more legislation.
I’m asking if we, as a nation can momentarily turn off “the Jerry Springer Show”. In the dysfunctional family that is our government, all their resources are directed at fighting eachother.
dapope on June 23, 2006 at 3:51 PM
Tony Snow is Da Man! This kind of polite intensity is what has been needed in the White House Press Room for a long time.
Who’s with me? Tony Snow in 08!
tbolick on June 23, 2006 at 4:00 PM
OK, now I see many of you finally say the press is the enemy. So why don’t some of you who have blogs start using my technorati tag: “Enemy Press” when you write about it. Check the website, use the phrase Enemy Press whenever you talk about the media.
ScottG on June 23, 2006 at 4:29 PM
Is it just me or are we seeing a lot less of the WH Press room briefing showing up on the MSM ‘news’ broadcasts of late? Probably afraid of how it all looks with the Snow Man driving the train. They’ve switch to Defense Dpet. briefings and the like.
Mike O on June 23, 2006 at 7:37 PM
Snow is probaly one of the best things to happen in a long time.
I mean, the few clips I have seen of him shows him owning the MSM.
“I am trying to educate you and your pestering the teacher”
He is almost like the Henny Youngman of the press corps.
I need to find out when he is on tv.
Wyrd on June 23, 2006 at 8:27 PM
What is wrong with our gov’t??? When are we going to see these clear violations of national security laws prosecuted?
Shooting is too good for these NYT and LAT jerks but unfortunately that’s not going to happen. I think the problem is that the government would have to reveal even more in a courtroom trial in order to convict them and they don’t want to do that. Still it would be good to arrest these a-holes like Lincoln did to northern editors that opposed the Civil War, and Lincoln held some of them without bail or trial suspending the right of habeus corpus until the war was over.
