Video: Sheikh Mansur airstrike

Mensch that he is, Blackfive found it and put it on YouTube for the world’s enjoyment.
Doesn’t appear as though those bullets did much damage.
But appearances can be deceiving.

The big terror news this morning comes from the Kingdom, where Saudi police have sent six jihadis to meet Allah. Security Watchtower has a handy chart of high-ranking terrorists supposedly killed or captured there since 2003. (For some reason, it omits Fawaz al-Nashmi, the alleged 20th hijacker who was shot dead in June 2004.) Do check it out, but be skeptical: God only knows how many of these turds are in fact still alive.
Update: There may be a connection between al-Nashmi and today’s raids: LGF says the Saudi operation targeted jihadis spreading propaganda online. Coincidentally, a video of al-Nashmi was made available on the web only a few days ago. Did the Saudis trace it back to the group that was liquidated this morning?

With the exception of the actual outcome of the events on that video, I find the video, slightly lacking.
Needs more ‘splosions. And a soundtrack. The Zarqawi death set the standards high.

Yeah, need the rest of the video for the fun part. I like the thermal imaging because when the bodies get hit and blown apart, you can see the bits flying.

Perhaps we skeered him to death.

Perhaps the military should consider hiring Quentin Taratino to direct these assaults.

What’s interesting is that, if this was a UAV doing the filming/shooting, they’re mounting guns on them now. Not just the single Hellfire missile. Good ol’ American ingenuity at work! No wonder the Air Force is shedding people these days – won’t be much longer before pilots get replaced by a bunch of pimply, 18-year old joystick pushers.
Still, the aiming accuracy could use some work …

It seemed to be hitting where the crosshairs were aiming. Recoil didn’t seem to shake the camera much. Can see mussle smoke from lower Left. Might have been a chopper.

Spurius, the augmentation of our military forces with robots is expanding in applications and sizes. Someday we may be using only robots to man check points and to do simple recon missions.
I suspect the aiming accuracy is caused by feedback of the pointer and the stability of the aircraft. This can be corrected, I am sure, by simple modification to the algrithms and with better com links. But we are shooting where the cross is pointed, and that is very good calibration in alignment. Man…give me the joy stick!

Hmm. Do you think the picture of Mansur on the left is from his senior prom or a Glamor Shot? I particularly like the starlight background. It has a certain understated 1970′s disco dignity to it.
What do you suppose he was thinking as he car pulled away? “I’ve got to remember to stop and get a loaf of bread and a crate of frag grenades. Now that I’ve thought it over I think I will take a 3rd wife. Yep. What the…is that hail hitting my car?”

The predator does NOT have a machine gun or cannon. This UAV was just watching and not firing on ‘Monsieur’ Mansur. The predator can be fitted with Hellfire missles depending on the mission but they can’t stay aloft very long when they have the missles on them. My guess is that it’s an Apache giving our terrorist friend an extreme makeover. Don’t let the fact that the car didn’t explode fool you. The cannon they got hit with is like metal rain. When just one bullet hits you body parts fly. RIH (Rot In Hell) Mansur.
