Shackles removed from troops accused of Hamdaniya killing
posted at 8:50 pm on June 16, 2006 by Allahpundit
The brig commander gave the word yesterday. A bit of dignity restored — but only a bit. Read the article or Michelle’s post from Wednesday to see what conditions they’re being held under. Worse than Supermax, says one lawyer.
Worse than Moussaoui has it, in other words.

Does anyone even know if they’ve been charged yet?

At least they are released from shackles.

Not good enough.
I can’t find anything about whether or not they have been charged or not. If I understand what I am reading correctly, it could be as late as September before they are charged. Meanwhile they are being treated in a manner worse than the the “convicted” at Pelican Bay.
Now what happens if it turns out that the accused are found not guilty? Do we give them a slap on the back and say “sorry about the misunderstanding”?

Yup, it reached the Military too, political correctness, that is.
That’s all I have to say.
Oh, Heil Islam and screw America!

No, THEY HAVE NOT BEEN CHARGED. Marines are guilty until proven innocent and me blood pressure’s been doing dangerous things for days now.

We have a long way to go. But nevertheless this is the first step.
Write to your Senator and Congressman. May be they can make it into a resolution!
Bush is totally lame…ignore him.

its a positive sign taken by the Marines because of the work of bloggers

I give credit to concerned people like Michelle. These people have not yet been charged. I understand the need for security in cases of this magnitude, but perhaps a little common sense can be applied.

It is a move in the right direction yet we have a long way to go.
With representatives like Murtha pushing to have our troops treated as criminals we need to continue to show our total outrage of elected officials who abuse their power in seeking scape goats for their cause.

I have one thing to say here….who got to their Commander? IMHO, I think that the traitorous Murtha and his ilk are using someone. Likely this Commander…pray that he was not offered a payoff just to make his soldiers look bad for a reward down the road. I can’t shake the feeling that there are still powers that be, who are manipulting things for political purposes and this Murtha is turning out to be truly a “useful idiot.” There is not a Marine breathing who would do this to his men, willingly. Something is very wrong here….I smell a rat and I am usually not wrong…just cannot prove it.

Yesterday, I called the commandant of the marines office. The marine I spoke with informed me that calls and emails were coming in from all over. He suggested that we all call our elected officials. I called my congresswomans office and I urge all to keep up the pressure.
While it is just a first step it shows the power of bloggers and talk radio….oorrah!

In all fairness, Michael Savage deserves credit for being the first to expose this, and credit to Michelle for giving him props and joining him right away and making it a BIG ISSUE – she helped make this happen. They were a 10 days ahead of everyone else. BZ!!!
I urge folks to give to “Defend the Defenders” or “Patriot Defense Fund” because this is what our 7 Marines and their “Doc” – the Navy Corpsman need right now. Money to defend themselves – it helped LT Pantano, and we need to give some bucks to help these 8 war heroes who did so much for us – kill the terrorists. They are on the front lines of this Jihad against us. Let’s help ‘em.
They’re heroes, not criminals.

Dont forget that all this happened because one of the enemy, or a family member of the Iraqi, SAYS it happened. As far as I know, it was one Iraqi making these claims….one mad, upset Iraqi, possibly an enemy insurgent.

I gave to “Defend the Defenders” the other day after reading about this here at HotAir. It’s not expensive to give, they only request $10, but it goes a long way.

OK folks I am against the shackles along with everybody else but the conditions were set up for bad guys and these folks have to deal with it. At the moment they are going through an article 32 which is the same as a grand jury. I don’t know why they are considered a flight risk or even if they are. If they aren’t then they should go to a receiving barracks.

I think all the activity and discussion over this issue is good. I have seen several commentaries from military lawyers and historians, however, that the Marines and military justice system are doing just what they are supposed to in these cases. They are following miliatary law correctly (although probably reluctantly) in the way they are trained. I hope the Pendleton 8 are exonerated, and either way what has happened is a natural consequence of the tactics being used by the terrorists. Although we are not consistent as a nation (i.e. immigrant issues) we are reinforcing the message to the rest of the world in this case that America takes thier laws seriously — especially in the military.
Regardless of the outcome in this case, I know we can expect more efforts by our enemies (terrorists, democrats, and U.S. mainstream media) to continue to work together to work against the efforts that the whole world voted for, but only the U.S and a few other countries have the guts to stay the course on.
If you consider psy-ops part of warfare, you can’t even give democrats and mainstream media the benefit of doubt of falling prey to it. Rather they instigate it, and are therefore Treasonous Traitors.
It is one thing to internally investigate rigorously any quality issued in our countries operations. It is quite another to publicize them in cooperation with our enemies so that our weaknesses can be taken advantage of.
I think it is time to start locking down some congressmen, reporters, college professors, and islamic not-for-profit organizations while we investigate thier motives. Or we could take them prisoner of war and put them in Gitmo where they will be well cared for, then when the war is over, take them back to the countries where thier allegiences lie (Iran, north Korea, Venezuela, Mexico, Palestine). They can’t go to Iraq or Afghanistan, because the democracies there won’t want them either. If if we want to be really benevolent, we could just take them to thier countries of allegience now.

At least something is going our way. No more shackles. I can breathe a little easier…not much better, but just a little.
