A friend of mine serving in Iraq at the moment was saying that, most people stateside don’t realize that the fight is no longer insurgents vs. US troops. It’s Sunni vs. Shia vs. Kurd AND insurgents vs. US troops. I’m assuming this Iraq vs. Iran fight is a Sunni/Shia thing. As nice as it is to hear about jihadis killing each other instead of our troops, I’m still not sure this is a good thing for us – we want/need a stable Iraq for democracy to succeed there, and for us to be able to say Mission Accomplished for real and bring our troops home.

Isn’t this exactly what Rummy said before we invaded Iraq? That it would take “weeks, not months” and that the Iraqis would be throwing rose petals? Iran is a lot bigger than Iraq, and stronger militarily. I do think Iran needs to be dealt with, but we can’t go in assume it’ll be a cakewalk

You know who really terrifies the Iranians? Sistani. He could end up running the whole Shiite world and the current thugs in Iran are scared to death of that.

Good, anything bad that happens to the iranian terrorist regime is good for us.

We have proof that the shaped-charge IED’s killing our Troops are coming from iran. We need to wrap it up in Iraq (when it’s ready) and get to work in iran. We have ‘em surrounded. The mighty U.S. Air Force could get it done in 3 nights if properly utilized. Add in a Carrier (preferrably the Reagan, just for sentimental value) and the mullahs and their nukes are gone in 2. The people of iran will be liberated and they will become our Allies in the war on global jihad. One more name scratched off the Axis of Evil list.

Gee…if only the Iraqis had taken Iranian hostages…it might have become payback of sorts for their act of war against the US by invading our embassy and taking hostages. As it is, regardless of the reasons…this act is a small ray on sunshine to me…
