Zarqawi strike also killed his teenaged wife and infant son (Update: Did his “spiritual advisor” get away?) (Update: Perhaps not)

According to the Times of London:

Al-Zarqawi’s second wife Israa, in her late teens, and their 18-month-old baby, Abdul Rahman, died in the strike, Jordanian officials told The Times. Israa was the daughter of Yassin Jarrad, a Palestinian Islamic militant, who is blamed for the killing in 2004 of Ayatollah Muhammad Baqr al-Hakim, the Iraqi Shia leader.

ToL says that of the six people killed in the attack, three were women. Palestinian terrorists are known to surround themselves with women and children in order to deter IAF missile strikes; I wonder if this sack was using his wife and baby boy the same way.

Update: Now here’s something weird. Supposedly, the key to this whole sting was the intel we’d recently obtained about Zarqawi’s “spiritual advisor,” Sheikh Abdul al-Rahman. He’s the one who allegedly (and inadvertently) led us to the safe house and, according to the U.S. military, ended up dying there alongside Z-man and the rest.

But if all that’s true, why is his name being signed to posts announcing Zarqawi’s death on jihadi websites?

One terrorism expert wondered if it was a case of mistaken identity.

“My perception is that if they released a statement in the name of Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Iraqi, then he is still around and, as the deputy head of Al Qaeda in Iraq, he presumably is the new leader,” Evan Kohlmann, a New York-based terror consultant and founder of globalterroralert.com, told The Associated Press.

“It is possible that two guys have the same name … Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Iraqi has never been identified as a spiritual leader, always as a military leader.”

I’m sure Michelle’s readers don’t need me to remind them that “Abdul Rahman” isn’t an uncommon Muslim name.

Update: ABC News says they’re probably two different guys:

The spiritual adviser was initially believed to be Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Iraqi, but analysts said al-Iraqi is a different man the group’s deputy leader who signed the al-Qaida statement announcing al-Zarqawi’s death.

OK…I am waiting for the liberals to accuse Bush of baby killing.

easy87us on June 9, 2006 at 9:40 PM

If you’re “waiting” for it, you’re going to have to invent a time machine and go back a few years.

ZRyan on June 9, 2006 at 9:43 PM

Even if he wasn’t actively using them as shields, the fact that he had them near him at all speaks to the inhumane attitude these scum have about life .

bbz123 on June 9, 2006 at 9:43 PM

This headcutter used his family to protect his sorry ass.
Im glad he’s dead, even if they had to whack a family reunion at the lake, and blow up his noodle salad.

lizzee on June 9, 2006 at 9:51 PM

If you hang around with murdering slime like Zarqawi bad things are bound to come your way. The brain dead press can slobber over this for a while then move on and try to find something useful to do.

rplat on June 9, 2006 at 10:07 PM

According to the Times of London “Jordanian officials” say Zarq’s wife and kid were in the house. How many different versions of who was there does that make now? Somebody’s making shit up again; of course no Muslim would stoop to that so it must be our guys, right?

bdfaith on June 9, 2006 at 10:14 PM

His teenaged wife? Gross. she could have been 13-19 years old. even grosser. and that he may have used his own child as a human shield – he needs to rot in hell, which i am fairly certain is where he is at present…

pullingmyhairout on June 9, 2006 at 10:45 PM

Since when are Jordanian officials credible?

They’ll make up any story to play the victim and gain sympathy.

speed647 on June 9, 2006 at 10:59 PM

lizzee – blown up noodle salad bwahahhahha that’s GOLD!

Teenage wife – like she had a say in it.

Shame he didn’t marry Lorena Bobbitt; she could have returned the favor.

I think there’s a lot of speculation, rumors, “eye-witness” accounts, etc…just like when they found Saddam. Aren’t you glad that Zarqawi isn’t sitting in an Iraqi jail somewhere waiting for his lawyer?
I think it’s odd that he survived so intact. I bet he was on his way out of the house, got caught by the encircling troops and died of the “shock” of the explosion. Whatever….I don’t care how he died. Just that we don’t have to worry about him anymore and that NO trial, judge, lawyers, witnesses, TV cameras, liberals, or world opinion have any say-so in his future.
Way to go USA.

jatfla on June 9, 2006 at 11:14 PM

If’we’re going to throw the name “Abdul Rahman” around, you can’t leave out Abdul Rahman Yasin, the bomb builder for the 1993 World Trade Center attack who lived in Baghdad at Saddam’s pleasure since that strike untli our 2003 invasion.

I’m with you on this, I think this is how America needs to start “taking prisoners” that way they are forever beyond help of the libtard brigades.

Rowane: libtard? That’s a new one for me. Thanks-I’ll add it to my stack for my next family reunion.
I have a new video iPod, and was showing it to a …libtard co-worker. When I brought up Michele with a “Vent” his instant responce was, “Are you trying to make me sick?”
I guess that pretty, intelligent, conservative woman sicken libtards. Bring on the pretty, intelligent, conservative women!

Doug on June 10, 2006 at 1:02 AM

TEENAGED wife? If ol’ zarki were a REAL muslim, a TRUE muslim, if he really wanted to emulate mohamed (piss be upon him) he would NEVER marry a teenager!

If he were a real muslim and he wanted to be like mo, he’d marry a six year old little girl. Sick, pathetic, miserable savage heathen. But hey, let’s give mo some credit, at least he didn’t consumate the marriage until … until she was friggin’ NINE! As soon as she menstrated. Animal.

Zarqawi is dead, the left should celebrate this, after all this is nothing more than retroactive abortion.

calnevari on June 10, 2006 at 1:30 AM

I shed no tears for Zarqawi’s wife or family, its either them or us, and I rather it is them. To hell with the Muslem Nazis.

birdman on June 10, 2006 at 1:55 AM

Right on! Zarqawi was a freak and I betcha the left showed him how ..
They are the masters of child abuse(abortions, child molesting),,They love for us to catch and release the child predators..Just like the illegals aliens..Come on nancy pelosi cry for your friend Zarqawi…liberals are silly little twits

alyce on June 10, 2006 at 2:16 AM

I gotta admit, my first (ahem, pre-critical) response to the “child killed” news was, “Ah shit, no.” But then the bonus balls that came free with Coulter’s new book kicked in and reminded me of 9/11. Time to hit the video clip archive on my Mac; how about the one with the Palestianians dancing in the streets after learning that passenger jets filled with American women and children had hit the Towers full of “Little Eichmanns?”

Sorry, you invite Zarqawi to your “safe house” for dinner with the kids, and we’re gonna serve up a heapin’ helpin’ of pain.

saint kansas on June 10, 2006 at 6:03 AM

This is probably cruel, but, I don’t care who else was killed along with Zarqawi. His young second wife (the NOW gang never seems able to criticize muslims on that subject) was raised in a culture of hatred and no doubt would have passed it on to her son. So, good riddance to them all.

I do hope we did in fact get the spiritual advisor. Wouldn’t want Zarqawi wandering around Allah-land without a guide.

right as rain man on June 10, 2006 at 7:47 AM

Notice they don’t say how old she was when they “married”!

But let’s see…late teen…say 18, with and 18 month old, 9 months pregnant (18yr x 12mo = 216 mo – 27 months for the baby’s age and gestation period = 201 months = 16 years old.)

Given that he had to meet her, go through a courtship, and find a few camels and goats for her father, how old was she went he started putting his camel’s nose under her tent..like friggin 12? These people are scum!

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on June 10, 2006 at 7:49 AM

Heard last night that he did not die right away…some crap about how he tried to get away by rolling off the stretcher and now I hear, somehwere, that there should be an investigation as to just exactly how he died. Now, we are learning about the wifey-poo and infant son. Who cares how he died, how many of his wives are blown to pieces and, for sure, I am NOT going to lose any sleep over offspring that will not see their third birthday. Reality is this: IT IS THEM OR US and WE have bigger guns.

Sandys Beach on June 10, 2006 at 8:17 AM

Right as Rain,
Good point about the NOW group. If that happened here, they’d be screaming “EXPLOITATION.” But since it’s their muslim buddies taking child brides, it’s becomes just a “cultural difference.”
And Dread, what is so sad is that the poor girl was probably chosen to be a wife as soon as she started her period. they probably performed female circumcision, etc. I actually feel sorry for her since she had absolutely no power at all and was in a situation beyond her control. Shame on her parents for marrying her off so young and shame on a culture that perpetuates this!

pullingmyhairout on June 10, 2006 at 9:54 AM

What does it matter… she’s probably thanking us for putting her out of her misery… better known a sharia law.

Bob Mileti on June 10, 2006 at 10:02 AM

First the piece of crap preaches that martyrs will have a thousand virgins when they get wherever it is they are going, and then he takes a teen wife. . . Watch the liberal media turn this heap of trash into a hero, and the troops who got the bastard into marauding baby-killers.

Frankly, I don’t give a damn whether he was surrounded by a thousand bearded Taliban or a thousand women and children. HE PUT THEM THERE! He PUT THEM into harm’s way! What are we supposed to do, telegraph the enemy and ask whether there are “innocent” women and children present before we attack a stronghold?

American troops are hamstrung by the most insane, restrictive “war” rules in the world. No other military has such ridiculous encumbrances placed upon it in time of war. It’s time we stopped looking for excuses to ostracize American troops and began killing the enemy wherever, whenever, and HOWever we can.

FY Edddie and Defector01,
I am in total agreement with you. Stop fighting a politically correct war, leave the military alone and let them use all their strength and might to WIN. We have the resources, but not the will.

pullingmyhairout on June 10, 2006 at 10:47 AM

Does anyone with a brain really care if his wife and child were killed in the airstrike? The fact is that he is responsible for putting his family in harms way..

The fact also is that he killed or is responsible for numerous deaths of innocent families. In the end he got what was coming to him and his family.

robo on June 10, 2006 at 10:50 AM

ForYourEdification & Defector01!
Absolutely!

I’m telling you, if you haven’t read Col. David Hunt’s book, “They Just Don’t Get It”, (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/140009741X/ref=cm_lm_fullview_prod_5/002-1743371-0187262?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=283155), you really need to.

It puts forth the simple emphatically clear idea that we need to take the pillows off our fists and fight this war to win.

The book is a quick read and Hunt’s personality and humor come thru very clearly. A lot of what he says infuriates me because he accurately lists the long string of ineptitude that’s led us to our current condition.

Read. This. Book.

techno_barbarian on June 10, 2006 at 11:22 AM

I hear a lot of couching on both sides of the aisle saying that killing zarky really isn’t going to make that much difference. On the right it’s to mitigate expectations that this may be the end of the war (this war will be waged for decades, trust me), and on the left it’s to dillute just what good news this really is for non-islamofascists.

But I also see the reports of all the info we got, and are still getting from this very successful, surgically clean strike. The resultant raids currently being carried out, as we speak and will hear more about soon, are going to result in lots of bad guys going down, and many more being identified as the roaches scatter.

Any way you slice it, the strike against zarky is great news and it provides a very real reason for the terrorists everywhere to be looking over their shoulders.

Mighty thanks to our military and allies! Great job! Keep up the fantastic work. This American thanks you very much for your service and your sacrifice.

The New York Times today has front and center today a photo with the caption:

A girl wept Friday on a Gaza beach after what apparently was an errant Israeli shell killed seven people, five of them members of a family.

You know, just to remind all you nasty people that bombs are bad.

BOO, HOO!

I weep NOT!

How is it that you “forgot” to mention the innocent Israelis murdered by the fanatically insane PALESTINIAN homicide bombers, who blow themselves up on bus stops, in marketplaces, nightclubs, supermarkets, and other “military targets?”

Yes, bombs are indeed bad. Worse, are the Islamic lunatics who wield them!

I don’t give a damn!

ForYourEdification on June 10, 2006 at 12:16 PM

I don’t give a damn either.
To paraphrase General William Tecumseh Sherman- sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.
Or as my parents once explained to me: “Actions have consequences”.

You know what? I had no idea there even WAS a truce between Israel and the paleostinians until this story broke. Sure didn’t seem like it.

Haven’t the paleo’s been shelling Israelis very nearly constantly since the successful election of their terrorist ‘government’?

Paleos playing the ‘innocent victim’ card. Again.

techno_barbarian on June 10, 2006 at 1:20 PM

Did you guys hear castro? He says it was barbaric of us to kill zarqi. Barbaric. Did he ever complain when the zman was murdering hundreds of Iraqi women and children? Commies and islamofacists. Allies. Comrads. Until they don’t need commies anymore. Why don’t they understand that muslims hate commies as much as they hate everybody else? Eventually you too will be given your three choices. Leftist morons.

Tony737 on June 11, 2006 at 11:23 AM

Jordanian intellegence, Al Z’ home country is reporting that his wife was 16 so I must revise my formula

16, with and 18 month old, 9 months pregnant (16yr x 12mo = 192 mo – 27 months for the baby’s age and gestation period = 165 months = 13 years old.)

Given that he had to meet her, go through a courtship, and find a few camels and goats for her father, how old was she went he started putting his camel’s nose under her tent? I’m now guessing she was 9 or 10! These people are still scum!
