Can’t say that I disagree, except for his weird reference to the bereaved as “the heroes of 9/12.” More interesting are Rahm Emmanuel’s comments, which recognize that one can tell a lot about a person from the things they keep silent about. And you know, I couldn’t agree more.
But back to the Coulter article. Note the very last quote that the AP lists. Heh.
On the other hand, touche:
“People run around calling [Republicans] extra-chromosome and Hitlers and Nazis,” Matalin told radio host Don Imus. “And nobody says anything.”
Time interviewed Coulter about the terror-widows controversy yesterday. Touche again:
I must say, I certainly have spotlighted the issue with my alleged “name-calling.” The entire country is now riveted on the left’s device of using victims to advance their half-baked, unsaleable ideas. From now on, every time the left showcases another sobbing, hysterical woman as their spokesperson, people will say — “gosh she looks like she’s having a good time.” So I’d say my “name calling” has been a smashing success. And by the way, I’ve got a few more names in my bag.
Ian, who loves him some AC, has video of her latest appearance on Hannity & Colmes. Jim Treacher, who doesn’t, reworks an acronym in her honor.
Update: I’m only saying this, of course, because I secretly crave liberals’ approval.
Update: Touche the third: Taranto reports that a pair of New Jersey assemblymen (er, women) want Coulter’s book banned throughout the state.

All I know is that the more my 3 daughters see of Ann Coulter on T.V. them more comfortable I feel that they’ll grow up to strong women.
Stick it to ‘em Ann.
Take all those spikey haired, oh-so-condescending and concerned liberal chicks and chuck ‘em for all I care.

I like to repeat the phenomenon here….
Hope you see the similiarity…
Jersey Widows….my husband died in 9/11, you cannot criticize me
Cindy McKinney…..I am black, you check me you are profiling, you are racist
Murtha….I was a war hero, so I have the high moral ground here
Kerry….I was decorated so the swift boat veterans lie
Willam Jefferson….he is black so Pelosi is not right to ask him to step down
McCain…he was a POW so you must not attack him, you have to give him TLC
Duke dancers…she is black so you cannot question her integrity
Do you see a pattern here? Do you see how the use of “shield” is part of liberalism?
THE USE OF SHIELDING TO OVERPOWER FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS PART OF THE UNDERLYING PRINCIPLE OF LIBERALISM IN AMERICA!
It is a tactics originated in Communist China during the cultural revolution. If someone’s dad was bad( like, capitalist) the entire family lost their rights. If some one’s family member is a red and hot member of the party the entire family can do no wrong. If someone’s son died in the Korean war then they are hero’s family and they enjoyed special previlege!
You want to wait and see if Pat Kennedy getting persecuted? FAT CHANCE!

I’ve yet to hear anyone dispute her assertions. All I’ve heard is “oh no, she used insensitive words to describe those women, oh my!!!”
I wish more “conservative” bloggers, pundits and most of all politicians had her Cajones.

“Heroes of 9/12″… my arse! NYPD and NYFD and the United-98 passengers were the heros of 9/11. BUSH was the hero of 9/12… and most of the days afterwards.
As for Coulter, the jersey broads and any other libtard who supports them more than deserve anything and everything she says about them. Even if it was a string of profanity 40 minutes long. Fortunately Ann has way too much class for that.

As far as I’m concerned, the following people are the TRUE Conservatives, who appear frequently in the Media and who dare express their opinions, even if they are not in line with the rest of those who call themselves “Conservatives”:
1 - Ann Coulter.
2 - Laura Ingraham.
3 - Michael Savage.
CatholicConservative on June 9, 2006 at 7:21 PM
Um, maybe I should add…
4 - Michelle Malkin :-)
CatholicConservative on June 9, 2006 at 7:23 PM
Sorry Allahpundit, the only thing I have seen in your reaction to AC’s comments IS pandering to the left. Quit wringing your hands and being afraid of being called mean by the leftists, and start addressing the “issue”.
Cpilot on June 9, 2006 at 7:29 PM
Of course you should……..michelle has cajones 24/7. Between the both of them (malkin and coulter), they’ve unhinged more liberals than I can shake a stick at. Many are still hospitalized (w/o insurance of course, that’s why they want “universal health care”) trying to get rehinged.
darwin on June 9, 2006 at 7:30 PM
“I’m only saying this, of course, because I secretly crave liberals’ approval.”
LOL!
Anyway, it seems like the tide here at HotAir’s comment box is running pretty strongly towards siding with Ann Coulters comments. Nonetheless, I still think Allahpundit is correct on how this should have been handled.
We call the hard left “moonbats.” And well we should, because many of them seem to have some pretty crazy thought processes. And I understand where Ann is coming from about people who try to wrap them selves up in some sort of “untouchable” moral position because they were victimized by some aspect of the War on Terror. That Medea (sic?) woman from Code Pink said something like this about Cindy Sheehan and it really chapped my ass. But I still think Ann is doing our side harm.
Take me for example. I am a typical conservative sort of guy, living in a very liberal part of the country. And I’ve been gently trying to work on bringing my girlfriend (who is a righteous babe, let me just make that clear right now!) over to a more conservative way. And it seems to be working. Well, this Ann Coulter thing happens, and she is now steaming mad at Ann and asking me all sorts of questions about this and whatnot! This is not helping our side. Or mine, as I don’t want to end up sleeping on the couch. Makes me cranky in the mornings…
Anyway, we will never, ever, win over the hard left to our side. So we shouldn’t waste our time. But we can win over the undecided middle. And I think that these people are very turned off by what Ann is saying.
Very respectfully,
EFG on June 9, 2006 at 7:36 PM
Here is another way of looking at what I’m trying to say. What have we seen at that KosKonvention? It looks to me like they are trying to train the KKKOS KKKIDS (Sorry. Couldn’t resist that…) to be more media savvy. This makes them more dangerous in my opinion. A lot of the Kos types seem to be well, crazy. And you can tell that whenever they open their mouths. And America seems to respond by not voting in people like that, or who have been endorsed by Kos.
Yet what if they put on a Public Friendly Face? Perhaps they might start becoming more electable. Yet I don’t think the lunacy in their hearts will go away, just because they can look presentable during a media sound bite. An Ape in a Tuxedo is still an Ape nonetheless. This is why I am somewhat alarmed at what I hear about their trying to become more “presentable.”
And I don’t want us to go in the opposite direction. I think Ann makes a lot of us look goofy and crazy. And that puts people off, and makes us less likely to be able to get our choices of people into elected office. When Middle America hears that Ann has called 9-11 widows “harpies” and
“enjoyed the deaths of their husbands”, it freaks them out. They hear it, go “blink, blink” as they process what they just heard, and them frown. They don’t like the sound of it. I guess what I’m saying is that I think it would be a disaster if the Kos Kids got media savvy, and we started to loose our media savvy. After all, we all laugh and America shakes its head in disgust when the moonbats have pictures of President Bush with a Hitler mustache. We don’t want to start presenting the same face to America.
Just my two cents.
Very respectfully,
EFG on June 9, 2006 at 7:36 PM
I was going to suggest your #4, CatholicConservative, but you beat me to it. Good catch.

Here is how I describe Michelle’s site link on my blog:
Michelle Malkin - the thinking man’s activist. Journalist, Author, Patriot and she’s on our side. Beware, Fetid Bureaucrats!!! Watch Out, Moral Equivalencers!!
You can say the same for Ann Coulter. She dares to step over the line so that we may all have a level playing field one day.
Plus she brings the funny everytime! If you read Slander, you’ll see why she is doing this to promote her book. 1) stir up controversy and sales, I reckon. 2) to illustrate the tactics of the left and 3)Fight back using their own game plan.
Bravo, blonde bombthrower, bravo.

EFG,
There is no such thing as a typical conservative. If there were, there would be a lot more effective governance on every level from local to federal.
Now get to work by giving your girlfriend good books like Frederic Bastiat’s “The Law”(very short read), Michele Malkin’s “Unhinged” and ask her very sweetly to please read Ann Coulter’s “Slander” so she might reach a deeper level of understanding about what this hubbub is all about, bud. :)
JazzBass on June 9, 2006 at 7:45 PM
Every time some high profile “beautiful person” publicly excoriates her, Ann Coulter sells another 25,000 books. Not a bad marketing strategy.
As easy87us puts it liberals throw excrement at you and when you attempt to retaliate , they start playing cards. The race card. the ethnic card. the victim card. So good for Ann for finnally hitting back.
For example in the Duke “rape case” the lacrosse players are guilty of one thing only. They are white males. We have what definitely appears to be an immoral DA who needed a black constituency (who overwhelmingly believe the players to be guilty ONLY because they are white) to get re-elected ,so evidence be damned.We have a dancer who has told several versions of her story; appeared to be drunk and disorderly;
has a past criminal record; made accusations of rape in the past; worked for a strip club which, among other things goes in for whips and chains S&M, had sex just prior to meeting the players, etc. etc. etc. Yet until very recently virtually ALL the MSM was on her side because she was black and a woman. The players get handcuffed and booked and the woman gets clucks of sympathy from the likes of Nancy (dis)Grace.
MaiDee on June 9, 2006 at 7:49 PM
Neil Steinberg in the Chicago Sun-Times editorial called Ann a “loathsome venomous Republican bottle-blond doxy”. First time the word “doxy” has been set in type in modern memory. Most readers have no idea what it means, but it’s irrelevant, since he hates her. LOL Like Ann says, whenever liberals can’t argue with facts, they begin calling names. Living proof, thank you Mr. Steinberg.
clyde on June 9, 2006 at 7:59 PM
Oh, one other insult I forgot, Steinberg called Ann a “horse-face”.
LOL

~
Best thing to do is to remind her how liberals have abandoned the cause of human freedom and - in truth - traditional civil rights.
I actually used to be a liberal until I started (over several years) seriously examining and questioning the facts on the ground - the actual results and implications of the policies espoused by modern liberals. For example…
- Minorities kept down by Welfare Dependency and Politicially-Correct Multiculturalism (basically warm and fuzzy segregation in a nutshell).
- Women being restricted from being able to have strong political opinions besides anything but feminism (Coulter/Malkin/Ingraham are the perfect antidote to this).
- A general abandonment of Human Rights and Democracy in our foreign policy. Would liberals REALLY trade human freedom for utopian social equity? Most of them wouldn’t if you back them into a corner on the issue.
venmax on June 9, 2006 at 8:17 PM
Ann Coulter is the best thing that ever happened to free speech in America. She gives it true meaning. The left sees her temerity as audacity; I see it as courage. She is brilliant, quick, fearless, and had we a thousand like her, the Michael Moores and Susan SaranWraps of the world would crawl back into the vicious black holes from which they emerged.
I am retired from FDNY. More than 25 of the firefighters of the 342 who died on Sept. 11, 2001, were personal friends of mine. And I knew many of their wives and many wives of numerous other firefighters. I know of none – spelled, “N-O-N-E! – who so viciously attacked our President and policies as did the “Jersey Girls.”
Ann has a way with words quite unlike most of her peers but she surely makes her point! And frankly, based on my PERSONAL acquaintance with more than a hundred FDNY wives, I reiterate that I wholeheartedly SUPPORT Ann’s remarks and given what those women did and how they ARE using their husbands’ memories, their treatment at Ann’s hand was in my view, LESS than deserved!
There is no doubt that the Jersey Girls are using and hiding behind their husband’s memories to play a dangerous and despicable political game.
ForYourEdification on June 9, 2006 at 8:19 PM
Oh almost forgot.
The silence on the part of the left regarding women’s rights in the Muslim world is simply deafening. There’s no excuse for their almost total abandonment of this cause.
venmax on June 9, 2006 at 8:56 PM
Ann is kicking them in the groin and they’re starting to whine. She’s exactly what this politically correct country needs. Give them hell Ann and don’t give in.
rplat on June 9, 2006 at 8:58 PM
I wonder if the Dims and the left consider Ann’s comments any more offensive than their own conduct at the Wellstone Funerally.
I wonder if they consider it offensive when some prominent Dim recites the litany to the press that President Bush cooked the books in order to wage war on Iraq for oil.
Personally, no matter how it is phrased, I don’t see anything different in what Ann Coulter said and what the Kennedys, Clintons, Pelosi Galore, Al Gore (he played on our fears), Murtha, Kerry, Michael Berg (thanks for proving Ann’s point, by the way), Cindy Seahag, etc. have been saying about our President.
I don’t recall any prominent liberals taking Kanye West to task for making the statement that President Bush doesn’t care about black people.
Aren’t these the same people who politicize the war dead and the KIA funeral?
PREACH IT, ANN! DON’T LISTEN TO WHAT ANYONE ON THE LEFT, OR THE RIGHT, HAVE TO SAY.
Paul Atreides on June 9, 2006 at 8:59 PM
I liked the comment about Prof. “nutjob” Ward Churchill calling people in the twin towers “Little Eichmans”
and how, afterwards, he was feted and celebrated by the left for that ridiculous statement.
Then Ann has the temerity to say that the 4 “Jersey girls”,maybe, are making money and fame off the deaths of their husbands –and the left goes after Ann as though they, the left, are coming from an innocent place.I hope Ann keeps doing the work other conservatives wont do.
lizzee on June 9, 2006 at 9:16 PM
I thought the book banning/burning was reserved for ultra-strict Conservative Christians.
Guess I was wrong. Good thing she didn’t say “little Eichmanns”.
Kokonut on June 9, 2006 at 10:34 PM
Agree or disagree with Ann’s verbiage. One point you cannot disagree on is that it has everybody talking, finally, of the left’s disgraceful conduct these past ten years, at least.
I thought what Ann said about the Jersey Girls when they first started on their pogram against the Administration but kept my mouth shut. So with the Dixie Chicks, Murtha, Cole and Ward Churchill.
I kept my shut over Farrakan, West, Gore, Kerry, Clinton, Hillary, Moore, Soros, Petersen or Barbara, to name but a very few.
I give Ann a high five for telling it like it is, period! She knew when she wrote and verbalized her thoughts that she would get skewered big time, from all sides, but she’s a big girl and can take care of herself. So can Michelle. But, we are at least talking about the left’s canard now. They can’t hide anymore.
The difference with Ann, Michelle and other conservative/traditionalist sites is that the authors don’t get unhinged and use vile, filthy, ugly, nasty, puerile, not to mention vicous and hate filled speech. I’ve tried to read Kos and the Huff post, but the language there is so beyond the pale and it is clear they can’t have a discourse about any subject because they lack the intelligence to communicate with clear facts.
They hate they can’t factually dispute Jesus. But they make the most profane “art” about him. They cannot understand religion or faith or the people who believe. So they makes filthy jokes in the hopes of making them angry.
The left hate that the progress of this country towards a totalitarian type of socialism has begun to be derailed. They want their power back and they will do, say and use anyone or anything to try and get it back. They hate us because they don’t understand us. They hate themselves more because they understand themselves only too well!!
And, no, I am not a Christian. I am an agnostic. I have my philosophy based on my understanding of and others experiences with life.
sharinlite on June 9, 2006 at 10:42 PM
Let’s consider the source.
Tim Roemer is the guy that Howling Mad Howie Dean beat out for head of the DNC, and today he is President of the misleadingly titled Center for National Policy whose policy is to not have a policy. “Had Enough? Vote Democratic!” is the slogan he is pushing, but again we see that the liberals never got the message that America did indeed Have Enough, and thus voted them totally out of power.
http://www.tpmcafe.com/node/29341
Roemer is ill equipped to be a spokesman for the Heros of 9-12 since he was part of the failed effort to blame 9-11 on President Bush, so I guess he considers his attack of this solitary unelected woman to be his mia copa. I wonder what his position was when the Clinton ’sluts, and nuts’ defence made the news.

You guys seem to miss one very important thing.
Have you ever ask …Why are they so angry at Ann Coulter?
Do you think they can still use the widows to go after Bush? I don’t think so. The widows will soon transform from political activists ( rich activists) back into just plain widows because their stealth shield has been poked into holes by our Ann Coulter.
From now on people will start paying attention to every one of them liberals to make sure they are not using shields in arguments!
One of their most potent sweapon against the right has just been disarmed by Ann Coulter!
Would you be angry too if you were liberal?
easy87us on June 9, 2006 at 11:22 PM

You can factually dismiss the Jersey Girls.

Folks I’ve been looking at this in a different way.
I agree with what Ann says in ALL her books, she’s even opened my eyes to a few things and I’ve been a conservative since high school.
All of this hurrah is going to make some of the few “thinking” liberals curious and make it mandatory that they read her book. IF (I know, its the biggest word in English) a few of them are honest and smart enough to count to 20 without taking off their shoes they will see the truth in what Ann has to say.
This could cause a lot of decent people who’ve been mislead by teachers and others in power over them to re-evaluate their stance on a lot of things. If they do this, the ONLY way they can go is Conservatism, middle of the road just won’t cut it.
Just my take on this but GO ANN!

Rahm Emmanual calls Ann C. a “hatemonger”, X congressman Tim Roemer says Ann’s comments about the “Jersey girls” is “hate filled”. Talking points. I could not disagree more. This is the normal lib response, don’t attack the message, attack the messenger, take any phrase out of context to confuse the argument. Michelle M. is called “Diva”, and “Prima-Donna, Rush L. is called, “mean sprited”, Ronald R. George B. “cowboys”.We the commenters here are called “dopes”, and “mind numbed robots” and so on and on. “Symbolism over substance”. The “Jersey girls” used their personal tragady, the deaths of their husbands to make a politcal statement, thus they become fair game for critisicm. There is a doulble standard with libs, when David Letterman wants to get Ann C. a date with OJ everythings fine, but when any conserative makes a point then the personal attacks start. You know that you have hurt the libs when this starts. The libs greatest enemy is the truth. No one hits the left-wing kooks any harder than Ann C. and Rush L. On the list of the ten most hated people(Nazis of course) of the Revolutionary Cummunist Party Ann is number 1, ahead of David Harowitz, Whitteker Chambers, Rush Limbaugh and the rest. I only wish that I could be on that list, but to be no 1, thats a special place. Ann with her book “Treason” (I belive her best work), really got to the left-wing kooks, and now “Godless”, a one-two punch, KO. As I stated in a former post Ann to the libs looks like a squadern of F-16 Fighting Falcons armed with laser guided bombs coming out of the Sun. “That a boy give em the gun”. Just as with the Islamo-Nazis you can not play nice-nice with the libs, you will only get bitten. In the imortal words of the great one, “a tiger is a tiger, a snake is a snake, and a liberal is a liberal.”
birdman on June 10, 2006 at 1:46 AM
EFG,
Your personal sharing is amusing. To the list of books your girlfriend should read - and this is a great test - add, in this order, Ayn Rand “The Fountainhead” and then “Atlas Shrugged”. Field your friend on which characters in the books she likes. If she likes the Toohies, remember this - after your honeymoon is over, you will be stuck with a beautiful and incredibly shallow breakfast-partner.
Back to Ann (and the death of Zarqawi, of course) - have you noticed a strange shift in the news?
- Haditha is where?
- Bush is the “shrinking” and “worst” President?
- We will definitely win in November?
- Has Hillary fallen off the high-horse?
- Is Bill Clinton defending Hillary?
- Are the Jersey Girls signing up to debate Ann?
Best of all - is anyone capable of appearing with Ann, without spewing venom and suffering a complete loss for words, while she serenely and intelligently defends her positions? Have you noticed how happy she appears lately? She has the support of the masses, including many liberals on the street. They respect her “steel”. Her creator endowed her with enormous talents.
Imagine, with her brains, looks and cajones, how she would be treated if she were a leftie blasting the right?

How anyone can take these people seriously anymore without laughing is beyond me.

The Jersey Girls have a right to grieve over the deaths of their husbands. BUT, they conveniently forget that it was the ISLAMIC JIHADISTS who crashed planes into the buildings and killed their husbands, NOT George Bush. I actually feel sorry for them because they don’t realize that they are pawns for the lunatic liberals. As for Ann Coulter, she sums it up nicely, accuately and to the point. She sugar-coats nothing and calls the liberal bluff EVERY TIME. We need more of her.

Take the Bible out pf public schools, take the 10 Commandments out of the court house, take the cross out of the park. “ONE NATION UNDER GOD”, get rid of that, “IN GOD WE TRUST”, trash that, “WE OUR ENDOWED BY OUR CREATOR WITH CERTAIN ENAILUABLE RIGHTS”, 86 that “ONE NATION UNDER GOD”, thats gotta go.The words “liberity”, and “freedom” derive from ancient Greek Godesses Liberals are above God they are God, we must worship them. The worship of goverment is a RELIGON. The Bible teaches LOVE, the liberals all they have is HATE, and hatered is self desructive. Rohm Emmanual on the House floor telling the GOP to renounse Ann Coulter; amazing! Rohm are you reading this, I ask you to renounse your worship of Al Gore and Bill Clinton.

Hmmm… this “debate” has got me thinkin a bit…. scary…
Those on the left, who scream and cry at our own government instead of the really evil people are cowards….
They want to feel like they are doing somthing, like they are not impotent… and yet they also want a “safe” target. They won’t go after the Ismalic fundamentalists because they (the religious whackos) have, and will, actually physicaly harm those who disagree with them. The US government on the other hand, is a nice safe target (conspiricy theroists to the contrary) whose very existance guarentees their right to yell at the government….
They see an Artist who drew cartoons threatened… they see an author with a Jihad against him… they see a Director of a movie killed… and thus find another target…
Cowards…

Rush Limbaugh has it in for Congressman John Murtha, who opposes our continued occupation of Iraq.
“Let me ask you a quesstion. Have you ever heard Jack Murtha criticize any of our enemies with the language he uses to describe our own military?” Limbaugh asked during his June 1 broadcast.
That was the concluding line of a train of thought that linked Murtha to Limbaugh’s concept of the left, essentially as a traitor:
“Make no mistake, that’s their objective (to tear down the country). The people you’re talking about are trying to change the fabric of this country. There is a blame-America crowd. There’s a hate-America crowd and their mostly lefitists, a combination of socialists and quasi-communists, multiculturalists and they’re just losers in life. They’re lost souls. They are looking fo rmeaning and they’ve got themselves into certain positions of power, such as education, where predominantly most of them reside now. . .”
Read something like that and you might think Rush Limbaugh was a patriot and a hero.
He and Murtha (and me, for that matter) all came of age during the Vietnam War. Limbaugh managed to avoid service. Murtha enlisted in the Marines and earned two Purple Hearts serving our country.
At some point, won’t Limbaugh’s listeners ever get sick of hearing him slander authentic heroes?

Oh so because Murtha has some purple hearts he’s correct and Limbaugh is wrong, huh?
I wish I was surprised. But it’s typical leftard bull crap… the same stuff that Ann pointed out. As for the guy who’s girlfriend got mad, if the relationship survives then just wait a few because when somebody gets THAT mad you can bet your bottom dollar that deep down where they don’t want to admit it they KNOW they are wrong. She just doesn’t want to admit it yet, but give her time, boy, she’ll come around, and if she doesn’t, she wasn’t worth it anyway.

Who knew that when Ann laid out some very basic facts, the left was gonna go absolutely batty? I will be honest, I never saw it coming…did any of you?
In all seriousness, I look forward to Ann’s new book….should make for a great read, plus the anger the Left gets out of it becoming a #1 best seller is nothing more than icing on the proverbial cake.

Ann makes life just a little more fun. The libs hate her, because she’s effective.
