Holding hearings before the marines are formally charged, given the foregone conclusion that certain Democrats (such as Kennedy, Reed, Levin, and Dayton) are going to grandstand and “convict” the marines involved well before their having their day in court, comes very close to violating Article 1, Section 9, paragraph 3, which prohibits passing a bill of attainder, as conclusions will be drawn as a result.

But what I worry about most is how these hearings might jeapardize the rights of any service men involved to have a fair court martial. As Attila noted, that’s what happened to Ollie North when he was granted immunity and forced to testify before Congress.

We’ll have to see if McCain is smart enough to avoid permanently screwing his chance to run for President by joining the Kennedy camp.

The silent majority won’t stand for any manner of disrespect or arm-chair quarterbacking against our brave and honorable Military, especially our Marines!!

These political blowhards better be careful because they will end up looking like asshats… (and they will be voted OUT!)

The very idea of a “hearing” against our Marines is despicable and ambulance-chasing-like. I spit on the Liberals for initiating this contemptible unpatriotic anti-military sham.

Let them have hearings…. WITHOUT TV cameras and no pre- and post- interviews by the senators. If they truly want to investigate something BEFORE the investigation is complete, this is the only way to keep from further poisoning a well the MSM has made pretty toxic already.

Of course, a Senate hearing without the press would cause Teddy’s head to explode….hmmm, not too undesirable at this point. (Figuratively, for those with NO sense of humor.)

When I went to high school, they actually taught subjects other than “Feelin’ good about yourself.” I always thought that Congress was the LEGISLATIVE branch of government. Silly me!

When did Congress become the INVESTIGATIVE branch? Why do these pompous, overblown, self-indulgent asses believe that it is their duty to INVESTIGATE everything from why cows flatulate in a dark barn, to scornfully assuming the position, posture and duties of the MILITARY, JUDICIAL and EXECUTIVE arms of this nation? Congress in its arrogance has become even worse than activist liberal judges!

Oh, I know. . . They’re running cover for the likes of Cynthia McKinney (who assaulted a police officer) William Jefferson (with a freezer full of money) and Harry Reid (who thinks taking thousand-dollar boxing tickets for free, to gain his favor on a vote) are okay. yes, Tom DeLay. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that an in-depth investigation of the whole lot of rotten apples would show the barrel to be contaminated beyond revitalization, renewal or recovery.

Dear reader, if you don’t assume your responsibility as a conscious, serious voter and kick those assholes Senators who broke our immigration laws, who are accusing, judging and sentencing our Military in the Media, who are wasting our money, who are looking for their own interests instead of those who elected them, if you don’t assume your duty by sending these crooks, liars and hypocrites back home, you are doing a disservice to America, your Country and History will accuse you of dereliction of duty.

I don’t care if the guy you will kick out is a Republican or not. They had their chance in Office for many years, they disappointed you and me.

Enough is enough.

There must be some checks and balances.

I’m sick and tired of those so-called “Republicans-Conservative” who are anything but Republicans or Conservatives.

Hopefully these hearings will not be as bad as we think. Remember, it is the institution with only 19% confidence going after the one with 73%. In theory, there should be more of an impact from the results of the internal military investigations based on these numbers. But then again, numbers are screwy… almost a third of people polled had confidence in television news, after all.
