Gate uncrashed: Busby loses

posted at 9:48 am on June 7, 2006 by Allahpundit

“Moral victory” number nineteen. In a few months the freshmaker will make it twenty. But they tried really hard and it was within five points and the GOP spent some money and it’s a conservative district and the incumbent was a Republican rancid with scandal, etc etc.

Seriously, what would Duke Cunningham have had to do, exactly, to make a Democrat sound appealing? Bang a horse? He had his own bribe menu and, allegedly, was sexing hookers supplied to him in exchange for political favors — at the Watergate Hotel. Meanwhile, Bush’s and Congress’s approval ratings combined barely crack 50%. If I were the nutroots, I wouldn’t pat myself on the back too hard. But the fact is, they were making excuses before the voting even started.

To no one’s surprise, it’s a slow news day at the Today Show. They don’t even get to crow about Roy Moore winning the Republican primary in Alabama: the southern extremist wingnut Christianist Jesus-freak theocrats decided to stray from the narrative by choosing Governor Bob Riley over Moore … by a 28 percent margin.

Moran’s underwhelmed by the nutroots’ moral victory, too. I’ve linked to pretty much everything he’s written over the past month, so there’s no sense stopping now.

With Bush not helping, the conservative bases ( thanks to Minuteman especially) won one for the people!

We can do it with or without Bush.

And don’t think I don’t appreciate it!

Now…who should I make the check out to again?

Seriously – much appreciated, Allah. You were the first “big blogger” to link to me way back during the 2004 election debates so as far as I’m concerned, you be my blogdaddy.

What do you want for father’s day?

The “bell” weather has rung. And it rang a GOP tune. The liberal MSM must be tone deaf, because they apparently didn’t hear it.

roninacreage on June 7, 2006 at 10:02 AM

The voters must be having the notion that “Culture of Corruption” apparently is referred to William Jefferson.

NY Time is in a panic..quick…new scandals are needed! Any one got one on Tancredo? Does he kill goats for sacrificial rituals? Quick! Hey, how about this one on Bush?…No, dude…Bush is so uncool now…the worse he looks the happier is the conservative base. It won’t work any more. …But, sir, we only know how to hate Bush!…Oh…sh%t…..let us get Soros…

MSM is working hard tobring you news…….

easy87us on June 7, 2006 at 10:16 AM

Hmmm. Someone must have been checking voter i.d.’s at the polls in San Diego. Otherwise, the Democrats would have won.
Remember, illegal voters are “Only doing the job Americans won’t do.”

clyde on June 7, 2006 at 10:16 AM

The Republican voters overcame the Democratic voters–dead people, fictitious people, illegal aliens, convicts and people who jump into the Pacific Ocean to convert the fish.

Intead of crowing this morning, liberals have had to fall back on old, rehashed Haditha stories.

Over at Instapundit, someone pointed out that the Kos Kids did get a ‘victory’ yesterday; a Dem primary win of Tester over Morrison in that ‘key battleground state’ of Montana. Of course, that probably assures Burns victory in November, so I guess we should wish more ‘successes’ like this one for the Kossacks.

Mike O on June 7, 2006 at 10:20 AM

Mark Warner said yesterday,” “But I find all across the country there is a real sense that what we as Democrats have to do is not simply be competitive in 16 or 17 states, but actually have candidates that can win all across the country.”

He added later that “simply having anger at Bush or his administration isn’t going to get us there.”

Hahaha….Bush is our great fly paper!

Winning is for sheep

Don’t you mean “sheeple?”

Slublog on June 7, 2006 at 10:29 AM

Funny, but the San Francisco Chronicle web site took the notice about the Democratic loss in San Diego off their news listing. It was on this morning early, with the note “votes are still being counted”, but once it was official the bad news (for San Franciscans) disappeared. Amazing. And very obvious.

clyde on June 7, 2006 at 10:31 AM

Kos getting a win is picking a Democrat to beat a Democrat? Kind of weak. Perfect, actually. That sholdn’t count more than half a point, at most. 1/2 to 19 1/2.

clyde on June 7, 2006 at 10:32 AM

Yet another big win for the loony liberals. Hurras!

Ok. Let’s see what their winning game plan was…

They tried to get ILLEGALs to vote. How did that come out?

Libs wanted to split the conservative vote. Is it true that Busby bought air time promoting the independant candidate? I wonder who she voted for.

As I see it Busby was the pro ILLEGALs candidate, Bilbray is the Stop the ILLEGALs candidate, and in the liberal state of California we see what the voters demanded. Will Bush or the Republican Senators ever get it?

DannoJyd on June 7, 2006 at 10:33 AM

Here’s hoping Bilbray has more success with the “anchor baby” issue, this time around. I know, Defector01, I’m so damned mean. ;->

Aunt B on June 7, 2006 at 10:42 AM

Damn that’s funny. Even more so that this was the twit who shot her mouth off about encouraging voter fraud.

Thanks for trying to steal my vote, Busby you wack-job. I’m glad you lost!

venmax on June 7, 2006 at 11:09 AM

Hit them on the Amnesty Bill, 40 out of 45 Democrat Senate support the Amnesty Bill and use Ted Kennedy’s I have a Dream speech in your ad!

Do as I say and you will win, fellow congressmen!

I’m sure some non-papered voters did make it thru…and she still lost.
.Chaos and no-paper Busby are quite a team.
Maybe we should just turn ’em loose, hate propoganda and ‘dont need no papers’ rhetoric will be good for the right.

shooter on June 7, 2006 at 11:55 AM

LOL Aunt B I’m going to beat you to show how intolerant and mean you are

I voted for Bilbray, still not a big fan of his, but I’m glad he won and Busby will go back to screwing up college students’ lives

Defector01 on June 7, 2006 at 12:00 PM

All the paperless voters musta been on siesta.

And in my district 3 tax increases all failed. No one wants to pay more into the corrupt public school system when the teachers are south of the border socialists who’d rather give extra credit to their students for leaving class than actually teaching them about the democratic process.

The public schools are not representing America or Americans.

If teachers were sincere about teaching they would have had an in-class debate May 1st, showing both sides, and then required the students to write to representatives et al based on the viewpoint they chose after the debate. The letters could have been extra credit! Extra points for each letter. The public school system showed it’s ugly, real face on May 1st and tax paying AMERICAN CITIZENS punished them for it.

No Taxaxion Without Representation!!!

If we can do it here in Kalifornia, we can do it across the country! Yay!

NTWR on June 7, 2006 at 12:46 PM

Ayn Rand was proud of Kalifornians yesterday! She gave the Busby matter 2 seconds of thought “Francine got 45%, no more/less than Gore and Kerry received in the 50th district”. Oh, but you should have seen the sorry/sad faces of the local media covering the slow returns. It was a slow ‘death’ for them and they used every excuse in the portfolio as of why she lost. Just not the facts. They interviewed Francine several times, with lots of wishful thoughts for a turn of numbers – it never came…

Ayn was very happy about the losses of Prop. 81, especially 82, and H in Rancho Santa Fe.

Prop 81 – $1.2 billion savings over 30 years ($600 million principal and $570 million interest expenses – almost 1/1 ratio).

Prop 82, the boomerang of Rob Reiner. The local independent and conservative radio stations helped much in his demise on this issue. They really exposed his chicanery. It is amazing that this proposition lost at such a high rate (59.3% NO, vs. 40.7 Yes). Savings for Kalifornia job-providers/entrepreneurs = $2.4 billion. This would have been a large redistribution of wealth, as he intended to tax those who already pay 40% of the country’s taxes to fund a preschool program for 10% of the kids. Socialism/communism at its core! The media claimed erroneously that all kids would be funded.

The heart-wrenching ‘kids’ mantra was used over and over, as if to point out that those who would oppose prop. 82 are ‘monsters’. The kids of the rich and middle class are already provided for and the kids of the less-fortunate are taken care of by the state already. This is not good for Mr. Tax-em Angelides, running against Arnold in Nov.

Hey, we’re supposed to be ‘government by the people’? Maybe it’s time we got off our dead asses and really contributed.
