Yahoo (and Google and all the rest) say they are just obeying the law. They have no choice.
But they DO have a choice…they don’t have to be there. No one is forcing them to be there. Period.
They are prostituting themselves for the almighty dollar, or Yuan or euro, or whatever is the coin of the realm at any given moment.
It is also a lie to say that their presence assists Chinese researchers/surfers, because access to some information is better than access to none. Wrong again. Yahoo and Google are simply aiding and abetting in dictatorial censorship…they are complicit in the suppression of freedom of thought.

I’m not shocked by much in this day and age, but I honestly don’t really know what to say about that. With the powers of perspective and history, the fact that he can still be wishy-washy on such a (should be) slam-dunk issue simply takes my breath away.
I posted at my blog awhile back that it-my blog-might disappear suddenly, as I often make mention of the false religion Islam, and speak out against Muslim terrorists.
I have a Blogspot blog; Google bought Blogspot, and if they decide to eliminate free speech by “guarding against hate speech” I am out. It can happen here.
Collecting data on terrorists out to destroy the USA and pro-democratic Chinese trying to undermine the Communists is the same thing, right?
Heck, look at all Bill Clinton did for the Chinese for a small fee. I’m sure a good chunk of this money will make its way back to the Dems. Plus with Bush as President, the USA is as bad as Communist China. Just ask the corporate boys at Google and Yahoo.
Blowback

Yahoo and Google CEOs need to hire Slick Willy to handle these *difficult* questions. They are flopping around on the dock gasping for air.

A clear case of greed winning out over morality.

I fear the rush to China’s market will trample on it’s own people.
When everyone is in jail, who’s gonna buy the product.
Don’t compromise your values. If you have any at all…. sheesh!
