In the years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban,
crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured Saddam who slaughtered 300,000 of his
own people.

The Taliban has been crushed? Huh, they control most of the Afghan hinterland and have attacked US troops at an increasingly alarming rate.

Bush put inspectors into Iran and North Korea? Huh, the IAEA inspectors were in Iran before Bush was elected. And they still haven't found anything that shouldn't be there.

There are no inspectors in North Korea. Not one.

Leaving Iraq is about as silly a decision as could be made. If for no other reason than responsibility (maybe some people have forgotten that word); we can never leave until the situation is at least a satisfactory one. You don't just go around the world blowing things up and then pick up your toys and go home when the going gets tough. That is what terrorists do. I would like to know just what people thought would happen when we went to war? Flowers and tinker-tate falling from the sky? Wake up and get in the real world. War creates death and atrocities for both sides, fundamentally and necessarily. The ONLY way to turn Iraq into "Vietnam" is to leave. We don't need less troops in Iraq, we need more... like 3 times more. "Shock and Awe" should have continued until the entire country was utterly pascified and begging to do anything we told them to.

"Get your burqa and prepare to pop your butt in the air to honor the pedophile murderer folks. That is the only way to have peace"

Or get ready to fight to the death. That IS what it will come down to, the koran demands it.

Duty, Honor, Country

Message to the troops is coming through loud and clear. You are a bunch of dirtbags and we don't care how hard you try we will be here to beat you down and put you in your place. How long before the troops finally just say the hell with it and really show you what atrocities are?
If those guys would just learn how to speak "Truth to Power" like all of those college professors and limp wristed students in this country everything would just be so much better. What have the Muslims ever done that the people they did it to didn't have it coming to them anyway.

Just like every storefront gathering place is defined by the MSM as a Mosque, and every Mosque is a great Holy place of historic importance, it also appears that everyone in the Middle East is related! Perhaps that's the problem, inbreeding!

Besides, “you” started this with “your” quest for Middle East domination and we didn't! Now pay the Piper!

If #2 happens, the liberals will will have to face up to the fact there is such a thing as really stupid people in this world. Victims, of course, but not of the U.S.

Absent American help, Iraq and indeed the entire Arab-Muslim mideast would disintegrate into civil war and chaos.

The Islamic world lingers in the eighth century, sustained in the 21st only by the U.S. and to a lesser degree, England.

My concern is ONLY for Americans, American troops, and America -- not Iraq or Iraqis killed in a war we are fighting and in which our troops are dying for their freedom, which they do not deserve.

Some interesting comments!
I think that we're learning a lot about the real world we live in.
President Bush was right to invade Iraq and Afganistan. We had a DUTY to show the world that we WOULD fight if need be, after eight years of being such an obvious paper tiger.
IMHO. the jury is still out on Iraq. To put it more bluntly; the jury is still out on Arabs. We've spent so much treasure, more than any other nation COULD, on the Arabian Experiment. If we're smart, we'll prepare ourselves for one of two possible outcomes.
#1. Iraq gets it's sh#t together and becomes a beacon for humanity in the middle-east.
#2. The experiment collapses into expensive chaos.
There will be lessons learned from either outcome, IF we have the will to embrace them. Option 1 would be the best, of course. It would prove so many of the sayings we've heard over the years. "All men want freedom" and "Democratic societies don't invade their neighbors". I would be thrilled if these were the lessons to be learned from Iraq.
But should option 2 prevail, we should be prepared to learn THAT LESSON as well.
That lesson would be that Arabs are not ready for self rule. And that some groups of people will CHOOSE evil over good. If we ever have to fight those people, I suggest nuclear weapons. To kill our enemies like the old days. Fair, "schmair!" Fight to WIN! Invoke FEAR in your enemy, not understanding!
I don't know how all this will turn out. But I suggest we prepare to learn the lessons of Iraq; whatever they might be.

I have been supportive of this war as a staging area for an ultimate attack on Iran and/or Syria. Much like the progressive campaigns in the Pacific Islands and southern Europe in WWII. Iraq to the west, Afghanistan to the east: pincer movement.

The longer the engagement continues, the more things like this will happen: it comes with the territory. If the President has no intention to attack Iran, then we have long ago reached the point of diminishing returns. He should take his own advice about 'nation building' and methodically disengage. Let the locals sort out their own future.

"Dirty Troops" is what they are calling our soldiers....
Leave a bunch of DIRTY bombs behind as you pull them all out.
OR, just leave and let them kill themselves, it's inevitable.

Lives lost

There were 39 combat-related killings in Iraq in January. In the city of Detroit there were 35 murders in January. That's just one American city.

FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us, Japan did. There were 450,000 lives lost. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us, but 55,000 lives were lost.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire and 58,000 lives were lost.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban,
crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured Saddam who slaughtered 300,000 of his

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking. But it took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a great job!

From a local newpaper, like in life, war is not so well defined or explained, and the whimpering continues

Partition Iraq into three separate countries and get out, I say. CC is right, the Arabs will be perpetually ungrateful over anything we do for them. We shouldn't worry about pleasing or appeasing them. The Kurds are our only true allies in Iraq.

Defector01,

Disaster for whom?

It is a disaster right now with the daily killings on all sides. What could be worse?

The worse is only one thing: Pulling the U.S. troops right now before stabilizing Iraq.

Not only will it be a disaster for Iraq, but for the whole region which will be under the mercy of Iran.

Do you think the Iraqi Government and the Governments/Emirs/Kings/Sultans of the Arabian Gulf want to be under the mercy of Iran?

I don't think so. Actually, they want America to stay to protect them.

Therefore, I do not see any "disaster" coming except the Democrats taking power in 06 and 08.

Disaster for whom?

It is a disaster right now with the daily killings on all sides. What could be worse?

Let's leave Iraq. Let's see how the Iraqis will manage to rule their nation without U.S. help.

As I wrote previously in a seperate post http://hotair.com/archives/the-blog/2006/05/30/pali-pm-haniyeh-bush-administration-is-the-enemy-of-all-muslims/, Muslims will never be grateful, and will always hate America and the West no matter what.

CNN is Al-Jahzeera's affliate in Atlanta, Georgia.

By the way, let me add to the story of this Iraqi "ambassador" the following:

In the Islamic World it is believed that:

1- The Jews, not Bin Laden, are the ones who caused 9/11.

2- The Holocaust didn't happen.

To say the least.

Oh, and by the way, The Marines killed my brother!!
