Aunt B, when the EU still had a prospect of success, the Americas were scheming of becoming one, the North, Central and South Americas. There are even rumors of one potential currency, the Amero (and no more dollar, peso, etc.)

The resurgence of socialism/communism in Central- and South-America, and the war on terror have put a damper on that grandiose dream.

Also, the EU is now what it is...it can't even define itself - why should we bother to waste time/space here?

Somebody, with the proper tools and connections, PLEASE investigate the real agenda of the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce. This is a group I never knew existed until I saw its president and CEO, Al Zapanta, on The O’Reilly Factor, last week, but I digress.

Regarding the US and Mexico, Zapanta, twinkling and smirking, repeatedly mentioned the word “merge,” without so much as a challenge from O’Reilly to specify. Weird.

Is Zapanta’s group, in league with US Chamber of Commerce and the “royals” in the US Senate and the White House, hoping to turn the Northern Hemisphere into some sort of economic counterweight to the EU? Worse?

What else could anyone realistically expect from the Liberal Stream Media? Surely we couldn't think they would change their habits at this critical juncture? (or ever!)

Anybody catch Jorge's speech @ West Point? Noble words, well spoken (for Jorge's usual par) and quite a history review...

Yet, applause was noticeably subdued and tardy at almost all pauses for same. Hmmm... and in front of an expectedly "very friendly" audience?

Could it be that the conflict in these fine grad's minds between a President who speaks so aggressively about the War on Terror and its' aggressors, while ignoring the immediate threat that leaving our borders unsealed presents... is showing?

Happy 'as you can make it' Memorial Day Weekend, Patriots. God Bless and THANK our soldiers and veterans.

Emails to your representatives is a waste of time. They do not read them!!!!!!
Letters, faxes and phone calles gets their attention though.

One note on deportation:
You can't charge all tax cheats, theives or druggies. However, you can certainly get a percentage.
So, deporting 2 million per year should be a goal.

A comment posted to Prieto's letter links to an article by Judge Posner. Here is an exerpt:

"
The call by some Republican to send most illegal immigrants back to where they came from seems more like political grandstanding rather than a serious proposal.

So I accept that the vast majority of illegal immigrants are here to stay for as long as they want to"

To me he is saying, American's are having a knee-jerk response. We can't send them back. A fine is a good solution. We need more immigrants. And from his other piece, we need to make Mexico rich, by global something or other...

There is a huge disconnect. This guy, like all the supporters doesn't see that America has never let people buy citizenship with a stack of bills. He doesn't see that we want to choose who we let join our country. He doesn't see that any workers are being displaced and replaced by these job-stealers.

He makes a lot of assumptions about our motives that are bad.

He makes a lot of assumptions about the illegal's motives that are good.

I call that contempt for the simpleton masses.

We don't have noblesse oblige in this country. Yet.

But they are working on it.

Guess they just have to weaken the blue collar classs, and dilute the vote. Guess that will do it, and make them richer, and give them nannies all at the same time. And oh, by the way, they can subsidize the program with our Social Security fund, which is built from middle class money, not the taxes on the rich.

"Update: Sensenbrenner on the Senate bill: “a non-starter.” Feel the anger. Can you feel it?"

Yep, I've BEEN feeling it. I've either been in Outlook, online, on the phone, or writing letters since I heard about this travesty of a bill passing the Senate.

These idiots just don't realize that the American people aren't serfs to be forced into things by their "betters" If others are as fed up with this kind of crap I think we'll see a heck of a turnaround in the next election.

The senate bill doesn't even make any sense. You allow all these illegals to become legal and allow more legal immigration but then you put the prevailing wage and job security provisions for the covered immigrants. It seems to me that, given the lack of any real border enforcement in the bill, the employers are still going to be looking to hire illegals, who will still be able to easily come over the border, since it will be cheaper than dealing with the beaucracy that will spring up to manage the prevailing wage and job security provisions.

In other words you will have illegals coming in and pretending to be citizens so that the employer won't have to go through the beaucracy and pay whatever the Labor Department sets as the prevailing wage for "guest workers". That's assuming of course that the Labor Dept sets the wage too high (which they will, can't risk being called racist).

NTWR- exactly right. But if an Illegal gets caught driving, he/she has broken a minimum of 5 laws just doing that act.
If a citizen drove without a license and no insurance in Colorado, state law puts them in jail 5 days. But Illegals walk?

This entire Illegal Immigration amnesty thing is a cancer that WILL kill off America as we know it. I promise you. Look at LA now, and they're still illegal. Let 12 -20 million of them come out of the shadows????? We have a new Majority. There will be more Mexicans in this country than any other single country. More than the English, Irish, Germans, French, Japanese, Spaniards, Italians, Greeks, or any single country in Africa, you're getting the picture here.
The picture IS NOT a melting pot. America will become lopsided and have a single Race majority, La Raza wins.
America sells 5 States to Mexico; headline year 2019.
We must have a wall/fence , w/out discussion w/Mexico where to put it. We must allow all law enforcement to enforce all laws and jail law breakers. Just those two obvious changes would scare 40% of Illegals back over a couple of years.
We are losing what we are at heart, America. I fear for my kids and their kids, real fear.
The melting pot has been working great, lets not lose it.

In regards to my above post, I did not mean to leave out Allen McCulloch, republican running in the NM primary for US Senate.

And concerning voting anti-incubant, Do US Senators think they are better than the President (whoever it may be at a certain time). Then way did they pass term limits for the presidency and think it is not a good idea for Congress? If they are better than the President, why do so many of them want to be President?

Entelechy-I thought I was going crazy... I'm glad you've noticed the drift in the "Right wing" news media on illegals too.

I will take up your new RSM decription from here on. Thanks!

<i>Keep one thing in mind: Since most illegals pay few if any taxes beyond sales tax, why would anyone expect a $7 an hour yard man or chicken plucker to be able to ever pay a $2,000 fine?</i>

Once they're "legalish", they won't have to work illegal jobs, and they'll be looking for better paying jobs. And when that happens, guess who's going to mow the lawn and pluck the chickens and pick the lettuce?

Hint: They're not here yet. And they probably won't get amnesty until at least a decade from now.

Here is what I emailed my Senators, the RINO Domenici and the Lib Dem Bingaman.

"I am in receipt of your email on 25 May, 2006. Thanks for your reply even though it is the same as a previous reply you sent in response to my email.

Both times I urged you to vote against amnesty for illegal aliens. Yes it is amnesty, read Ed Meese III's opinion in the New York Times. Both times you responded as to why you supported amnesty, or your version of amnesty (W.I.S.H.). Both times you expressed a view adverse to that of the majority of Americans. Today when you voted for S. 2611, the amnesty bill, you voted against the majority of Americans. You are a panderer to illegal aliens and their biggest enabler Vicent Fox. Or would that be G. W. Bush?

You have lost my respect and support."

I also told a friend of the need to start an Anti-Incumbant Vote Campaign. Bingaman is up for reelection this year and hopefully one of his Republican opponents (primary) will be able to unseat him. I will need to research to see which one I will support in the primary. Either way one of them has my vote in November.

Keep one thing in mind: Since most illegals pay few if any taxes beyond sales tax, why would anyone expect a $7 an hour yard man or chicken plucker to be able to ever pay a $2,000 fine? That will end up being excused as well, for it would be infringing on the financial rights of illegal immigrants. Just watch. The first thing that will happen is the putting off of paying the fines.....

Just wait until they all get their citizenship and see what both parties will start lavishing on them to keep them happy.

Speaking as someone who lives in an area with a major influx of Hispanics/Latinos/whatever, most of whom I trust are here legally, they are not assimilating.

It is also interesting to see how many "programs" start cropping up to assist immigrants, programs previously unheard of before.

The MSM should now undergo a bifurcation; for varying reasons they are all in the deep 'illegal immigration' pockets:

1. LSM - Left-Stream-Media (alphabet stations, CNN, PBS, papers of 'repute')
2. RSM - Right-Steam-Media (FOX, WSJ, Weekly Standard and a few others)

Hey, the newest is that the White House now compares illegal "immigration" to a speeding ticket-and Snow's feeding this to us???

What they fail to mention is that when you get a speeding ticket, your car insurance goes up for a few years, so you continue to pay more for your past mistake. Illegals, (who generally don't have car insurance anyway), that get caught and pay their fine and get given amnesty should forever have to pay a higher tax rate. (But they generally don't pay any taxes anyway).

Will I ever wake up form this night and day mare???

As Michelle M. has chronicled on her site, send a brick to your Reps/Senators

www.send-a-brick.com/index.htm

They can't ignore, delete or shred bricks and it creates a huge inconvenient and messy reminder. You can also personalize the frustration.

Calls/faxes and e-mails just add up but the sum-total is not visible and can easily be ignored.

Not surprising, MSM.

McCain is still trying to punish the conservative GOPs for not giving him a chance at pres.

Hey Clyde-go to numbersusa.com and send a FREE fax, then give em a donation for letting us do it.

I think the house is the good guy, the senate sucks. My House rep is great. My senators don't care at all about this country.

hey btex, it's hard to e-mail congressmen or senators, for if you don't list a zip code withing their districts, you can't send it.

S.Carolina gets another smack from Graham. I moved here from NY to help get this state back on track, but good old Lindsey just keeps stepping in it. I have to say I agree with SSvet, This is an Invasion and one being supported by our Senate. The House needs to stand TALL or they will fall in Nov.
