[...] Saturday, June 03 2006 @ 02:22 EDT Contributed by: BloodSpite Views: 4 The weekend of memorial Day was pretty eventful. Especially for free-lance photo-journalist, and former Special Forces jumpnaster Michael Yon.Seems one of Michael's award winning photographs was stolen by a major magazine. He wasn't paid for it. They didn't ask his permission. They didn't purchase it from him, nor was it authorised for use.Michael has since launched a legal battle with the said publisher, but he's also asking for helpIn the last 24 hours MilBloggers have managed to have 2 major retailers, Tower Records and Borders, to remove the magazine from their shelves. Another totally removed everything by the Publisher They have complied once notified of the illegal use of the picture. So whats Mr Yon asking?Write, E-mail, Telephone, and have the magazine's distributors cease and desist. The cover photo's use is illegal, and any information those retailers may want is available at the websites I have linked previously in this post, but the main one is hereIts basic plagrism, and since Michael has been operating in the Middle East for the last 3 years 100% on donations from readers like you, this travesty is not just his, but yoursOther MilBloggers Firing down range on this issue include, but not limited too:Roger L SimonMichelle MalkinBlackfiveMudville GazzetteCastle Argghhh!Strange WomenEuphoricrealityOPFORWuzzademCao's BlogHot AirGulf Coast PunditPundit ReviewCool Blue BlogWiz BangHalf a Pica DistanceMost Certainly NotCounterroism BlogSpotMaking Sense of JihadWeekend PunditForeign Object DamageJossipAnd if you really need a another incentive?Harpers is a French media Company. From Mike Yon:Mike Hammer, SHOCK

As a photog myself this is infuriating! I think these idiots do it thinking they can get away with it. Someone didnt check the paperwork..sloppy..VERY unprofessional and potentially very lucrative for Mr Yon. I wish him luck but mostly a PITBULL LAWYER!

My two cents?

This is a copyright issue, and I know nothing about this. This is lawyer stuff.

A lawyer can help Mr. Yon, not me.

However, if anyone out there knows a lawyer who is versed in the arcane law of copyrights, perhaps they could see if they would be willing to help out.

Or at least let Mr. Yon know the number to a good lawyer.
