[...] Check out this vent at HotAir.com. Why is it that Congress feels that they are above the law…that somehow a warrant that would apply to some average Joe, would not apply to them? The fact that Republicans are boohooing the search of Jefferson office stuns me. Are they afraid their offices might be next or something? I must admit, I’m a bit puzzled. How is it that Jefferson can be involved in this huge scandal ($100k), and ABC airs a report about an alleged scandal involving Hassart…that they knew wasn’t true. And I get made fun of for talking about a liberal bias…what’s the explanation then people? [...]

"Darn, just chicken." That's classic.

Seriously though, it's time to kick out the incumbents. Let's start at the primaries. The sad part is that I can't even pretend to be shocked. As members of a free democracy we've done a pretty good job of installing nobles.
I've been a long time fan of the phrase "people get the government they earn."
It's long past time that we stopped earning this one. We'll start by kicking these a$$hats out.

!. I am kicking myself for not realizing the Vent is a video. Kick! Kick! Kick!

2. Now I feel better. What a great presentation. Michelle throws the Constitution in the face of the Congressional mutants! The real Constitution, not the mutated document Hastert and others are flinging around. I notice their version was created in this century.

3. Message to Hastert: Who died and made you King?

4. What is more dangerous - a Congress that lies about the Constitution, or a Congress who doesn't know what the Constitution really says?

5. If the foil-wrapped stuff in the freezer isn't a bribe, let the politician prove it by eating it.

Agreed, Hastert is a b**tard. However, we need to keep a Republican House this year, or all is lost on immigration, etc. Once we spank the Senate, we can chastise the House.

As p*ss*d off as we are, we have to be smart about it. It's OUR country, not theirs.

God, please send us a viable third party!

And by the way...
Why is Jefferson not in jail? You can be sure that if you or I were caught on tape commiting a felony, we'd be cooling our heels while the system figured out how much the bail would be. Meanwhile, this venal slimeball hasn't even been charged yet. It looks as if warrants aren't the only thing that's not good enough for congress.

Right now when we need to be strong, Bush is APOLOGISING for talking so tough? The NY Slimes has convicted the Marines on its front page? Millions of illegals are comiong to be fed, housed, medicated, educated at our expense? No bureaucracy extant even to deal with them? Mexico has veto power over whether we build a fence? Hastert, who is being maligned by the same forces that produced this Jefferson character, speaks out AGAINST the FBI's nailing Jefferson? English speaking culture, Western values trashed everywhere?
The world is turned upside down.
Truly disgusted with Bush and the Senate Republicans.

Republicans are so punchy from an onslaught of Democratic attacks that they are terrified of being accused of racism against a felon from Levee Land. They scream foul and then hide their heads in the sand.

Meanwhile, the Dems get off with everything from DUI to treason.

[...] “Dollar” Bill Jefferson handed off a freezer’s worth of scandal to the Republicans. But did they think endzone? They could have stressed concern over the FBI’s search of Jefferson’s office while still keeping the focus on his corruption. It was a great chance to be both bipartisan and effective – blocking the Democratic attempt to paint them as the only crooks in town. Instead they dropped the ball and rushed to Jefferson’s defense. Smart move guys. It’s forth and long and looking like you’re going to have to punt this November.
Why now the indignation from Pelosi over Jefferson. This has been ongoing for 2 years!

Could have it been that others as well as herself have ethical laspes, Mollohan, Schambolwski's husband in jail for running her pac (IL-6)McDermitt facing more wiretaping warrants? Cynthia McKinney

Jefferson's outrageous behavior during Katrina, his dodging and weaving led the FBI to take an unprecedented step in raiding an sitting congressman's office

Now she "ASKS" for an investigation and resignation

To buy casting stones at one lone Republican who deserves jail time not minding a 1/2 dozen of her own.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Why now the indignation from Pelosi over Jefferson. This has been ongoing for 2 years!

Could have it been that others as well as herself have ethical laspes, Mollohan, Schambolwski’s husband in jail for running her pac (IL-6)McDermitt facing more wiretaping warrants? Cynthia McKinney

Jefferson’s outrageous behavior during Katrina, his dodging and weaving led the FBI to take an unprecedented step in raiding an sitting congressman’s office

Now she “ASKS” for an investigation and resignation

[...] Michelle Malkin made the topic the subject of her latest Vent on her video blog Hot Air. In one of those rare occasions, I find myself in agreement with what Michelle has to say about the issue. While I respectfully disagree with her on her statement of how the US Congress " has been stepping all over the executive branch’s wartime powers moaning about this and investigating that until there isn’t much the terrorists don’t know about how we plan to fight them." But I agree with her fully in that the FBI’s investigation was well within the defined powers granted under the US Constitution and the judicial search warrant are part of the Checks & Balances system upon which the division of powers between government branches is based.
As voters, we hold the ultimate check and balance with pols who have forgotten they are to represent us...not their own special interest. It makes you wonder what Hastert may have in his office. Certainly, if the FBI obtained a search warrant to search for some of these folks sanity, they could not dig up enough evidence for a conviction!

Of course Congress is above the law!!!

I'm surprised people didn't know that!!

It's one of the basics for being a politician in Washington D.C.: "You are above the Law. You ARE the LAW."

If the Senate, supported by the White House, is breaking the laws by granting amnesty to law-breakers, that should tell you enough about Congress and the White House.

It is not a surprise for me.

You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

[Cameron, the Republican boss of Pennsylvania, was Lincoln's first Secretary of War, acquitting himself so scandalously that Lincoln had to ease him out of office - by naming him ambassador to Russia. Another famous Cameron saying was "An honest politician is one who when he's bought stays bought."]
