Bush/Blair Iraq news conference open thread

Appearing together, probably for the last time, at 7:30 EST. I doubt anything newsworthy will be said, but if it is, we’ll have video. For the left, it’s yet another opportunity to accuse Blair of being Bush’s butt boy because he (a) agrees with Bush that radical Islam is a lethal threat and (b) believes that trying to create a democratic model for the rest of the region is the best way to head it off. Totally gay.

If you missed it the first time, have a look now at Blair’s speech from March 21st about the war on terror. The only Democrat I can think of who’d sign onto it is Lieberman — which, of course, is precisely why the Kossacks are trying to take him down.

Speaking of Iraq as a model, there’s good news from Iraq the Model. Shhhhh.

Using history as a guide (as our Founders always did) the Iraq campaign is a success, so far! Yes there are problems, but over all we are proceeding well.

We have come along faster, cheaper and with less bloodshed of our own than most other conflicts comparatively.

Of course, there is NEVER good news from the MSM, now IS there?!

Too bad Blair is such a “Third way” socialist on everything else. He was a stand up guy with Iraq, but it SURE makes it hard for a Conservative in America to stand by him with the REST of his ideology taken into account.

But, I will always have a fond spot in my heart for him. He’s the ONLY Brit that has stood by us in decades. Even the Conservatives over there are anti-US.

I dispute completely the “swan song” issue. The only person slated to step into Blair’s shoes is Gordon Brown who is WIDELY reviled! He is the current Chancellor of the Exchequer who has led a tax increase not to be believed. Also he is a Scot..it would be like having the PM of Canada hand picked to be the Pres of the US. The Scots have a separate Parliament where the English are NOT allowed to interfere..BUT the Scottish MPs are allowed to vote on English ONLY issues. There is a growing resentment and smoldering anger..dont count Blair out just yet. And most certainly dont count Brown in! BTW..he (Brown) is a VERY GOOD FRIEND of John Kerry. Enough said.

More of the same from the MSM: they trumpet that “B&B admit to mistakes in Iraq”, as if this is proof positive that the entire war was unjust, and is a failed mess instead of a great triumph.
If George Bush were to announce that in his spare time, he had come up with a cure for all diseases, solved the global famine plagues, won lasting peace all around the world…the MSM would accuse him of harming the healthcare system, putting farmers out of work and creating unemployment woes with the military no longer needed.
