Does anyone else wonder if they are trying to pack as much extraneous crap in as possible just to get a no vote in the end. Then everyone can point to the other side and say "It ain't my fault he added such and such amendment" while the other side responds in similar fashion but the Dem’s (read Dum’s) get all the press.

I kind of know how this works, and I am not going to say I am any kind of expert or anything, but has anyone done model UN or model Congress. I did back in high school and while I was more center/right at the time I remember fighting with some uber-libs in my "committee" and in the end getting 3 of like 5 or 6 bills passed because we (the right) had enough power to get some amendments, and kill others, but so did the (left) and when all was said and done and we had to send it up for a yes no vote, no one could fully support the bill as a whole. We all pointed fingers to the other side for ruining our legislation (at least I did) to the point that we wouldn't have anything to show in the full congressional session. (or it got voted down there) It all seems kind of silly, but in the end we didn't have actual constituents to answer to, we were supposed to research our congress member, and act accordingly. (I got Kyl which now that I know more about him I am glad, and I live in AZ now too which is even better... if we could just get rid of "bane of my existence" McCain)

The point is these guys do have a voting bloc and we are saying no amnesty, as I have been saying for weeks on end now what the president wants and what the Senate is trying to push through is '86 again in different wording. If they do it I can only hope that people will get off their collective butts and let them know that is not what we asked for, and if the Senate can't figure it out, I hope we respond in a resounding "YOU’RE FIRED".

Just received an email from Santorum stating, "Today, when the Senate votes on a final immigration reform bill, I cannot support it because it rewards illegal behavior, threatens our social-welfare system, devalues the legal-immigration process, turns illegal immigrants into permanent residents, and fails the test of history."

Is anyone surprised that the Senate, full of people who are supposed to represent us, has decided to throw its lot in with illegal aliens and the open-borders lobby? Just great.

Defector,
I feel your pain. As for all the other comments about Bush and his stand on immigration - i don't know why all of ya'll are so surprised. When he was governor here in the great state of Texas, he was known as a moderate republican. His stand on immigration has not changed since then. right or wrong, he makes decisions and sticks with them. He was the first republican governor to win back-to-back elections in Texas, not because he was a "Bush" but because he took a middle of the road stand on just about everything. he appealed to a lot of people here and most were pleased with his governance. But a big difference between Texas and the federal government is that in Texas, it is the Leutinant (sp?) Governor who really holds the power. I think Jorge Bush got in over his head when he went to Washington to play with the big boys. my personal opinion, take it or leave it.

Interesting:
Cinco de Mayo was more respected than Memorial Day will be!!!!

When did Americans start celebrating battles for other countries?----
THEY DIDN'T
The illegals are the ones who celebrate Cinco De Mayo......
Fox stressed the issue that they not forget Mexico, their homeland.
They still fly their Flags in disrespect of America.
BUT, it's only fair that we bend over and take it because America is suppose to give jobs to all these losers from Mexico and various S. American countries.

Start disrespecting them back!!!!!
I've already started telling the illegals around my town that they are not welcome.
Stand up for our Nation.
Let's have a New National Holiday:
TAKE AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TO THE BORDER DAY.
(Any border will do, then kick their arse out)

I guess that all the faxes, letters and phone calls to let our Senators know what the voters, Legal American Citizens, want means nothing to them. I can't believe that they continue to have the nerve to call me and ask for donations. I received calls for political contributions both last night and this evening. Rest assured, I did tell them what I thought.

Enoxo, Sen. Byrd is in a tough re-election bid, in conservative-land. It's not his age/wisdom relationship - it's his political survival, for more and more pork...

Unrelated, Susan Estridge, the sometimes sane Democrat contributor on FOX, said the other night "...I live in Calif., I know a lot of illegals and they all speak Spanish...". She must only know the elites, like Mayor Villaraigosa, Lt. Govenor Bustamante, etc.

Every illegal that becomes legal will now be eligible for every social welfare program under the sun. Now we can bankrupt SS even faster. Send Medicare costs through the ozone layer. Money must really grow on trees. But only american trees.

Just saw Indiana Congressmen Mike Pence (sic?) vomiting spewing vile and bile on Foxnews. Just this is crazy...
He's convinced all Illegals here under 2 years( about 16 of them after their friend vouches they've been here longer) will GO HOME by themselves. He says his new plan can find them a job in 3-5 days while they are at the border waiting to come IN to America. FOOL.
Even if it had a chance, didnt he think about this? All the illegals on the border have a knapsack and not enough water for a day (we supply that for them) but he thinks A) they'll leave, and B) wait 5 days in the heat on the Mexican side of the border.
We really need to check the air in the Senate. They've lost their minds.

Looks like Byrd joined Republicans on the no to cloture vote. Maybe he's getting sane in his old(er) age.

As for Martinez saying yes to cloture, he just put another notch in not being re-elected to me.

The photo ID for voting problem has nothing to do with illegals. It has to do with other minority districts and their mass 'proxy voting' activities. The Dems would very likely lose 1% of their 'lock vote' if this became law (or a bunch of election workers would have to commit now-verifiable felonious voter fraud).
