Your daily Ayaan Hirsi Ali fix

It’s Monday, and that’s reason enough. Hitchens ventures once more into the breach, calling Rita Verdonk’s treatment of AHA kafkaesque. Haroon Siddiqui (yes, that Haroon Siddiqui) says it’s no wonder so many Europeans love her: they’re Islamophobes. And the good folks at Khilafah.com cite the fact that AHA enjoys state protection as proof that what we really need is a restoration of the caliphate.
Got that Khilafah link off of Google News, by the way. Interesting to see which sites make the cut over there and which don’t.
Finally, the blogosphere’s go-to guy for all things Hirsi Ali has made another video of AHA available via YouTube in which she addresses the charge leveled by Siddiqui that she’s only telling westerners what they want to hear. It’s only four minutes long; don’t miss it.
Update: Dan Riehl says he was bounced by Google News a month ago. Hmmm.

Lol! I loved the question from the reporter asking “What do you say to women within Islam who think you are an extremist?”…
Hmmm… Yes…
Freedom of speech, freedom to own property, freedom to choose your own husband, freedom not to get your ass beat-down every day…
EXTREME!!
Question: What do you say to the cave man who thinks fire is too extreme?
Answer: YOU SET HIS CAVE ON FIRE.

Thanks for the link!
“Freedom does not come cheap. A price has to be paid.”
Ayaan got kicked out. Fair price?

“Freedom does not come cheap”..indeed.
Every time I hear her speak I wish she were on our TVs and radios every hour on the hour across the board. We woke up on Sept 11th, have we gone back to sleep or are we so tired we are willing to ignore? Frightening.

It is so sad that AHA has not been embraced by maintain Dutch/Euro society. If only for the purpose of self preservation.

self preservation…
This is not a core liberal value. At least not in their regard for American people. They don’t value the worth and sanctity of the individual – the only thing they give a damn about is the collective.
Which is why they hate America so much. They don’t believe in nationalism. In their minds we’re all one big global country whether anyone (but themselves) acknowledges that or not. If any one country is more successful than another then it, by their own definition, is hurting the collective as a whole.
Liberals actively wish to institute policies which will deliberately weaken this country in order to achieve a global “Balance”. In their minds the fact that we are so well off in this country makes us just as bad as men like Bin Laden and Zarqawi – which is why they do nothing to stand up to Islamic Fascits, and in some cases even help them to achieve their ends.
How or why these people come to these conclusions is beyond me – but out of a sense of self preservation there won’t be day that goes by in my life in which I’ll let them go by unchallenged.

Great article. I do have a question for those of you out there who have some knowledge of Arabic naming conventions.
Which is her first name, middle name, and last name?
I know her full name is Ayaan Hirsi Ali. But writting that down all the time gets old. I mean, we say “President George W. Bush” the first time we introduce him in an article. But from then on, you refer to him as President Bush, or Mr. Bush, or just Bush. You don’t just keep using the long title.
So I guess my question is this: How do you contract her name? After you introduce her as Ayaan Hirsi Ali, do you then contract it to Ayaan? Or Hirsi? Or Ali? Or Ayaan Ali? Or Ayaan Ali? Or Hirsi Ali? …..
In the United States, we understand that the first name is OUR personal name, and the last is our more formal, family name. But I know that other cultures have different naming conventions.
Anyway, if anyone has any education in this area they would like to share, I would be glad to hear it.
Very respectfully,

EFG, her full Somali name is actually a whole lot longer. But I believe it’s either Ayaan, or Ms. Hirsi Ali you’d want to choose from.

Great post Venmax, ya broke it down to a “Socialism for Dummies” level. You should write a book and call it “Socialists are Dhummis”.

I’m interested to hear what people who have supported the NSA’s actions regarding wiretaps and phone logs have to say about this. She’s saying what I’ve been saying… that freedom is worth the price you pay in increased vulnerability to things like terrorism. I don’t want terrorism to be impossible… I’d rather be free. Many Conservatives seem to be of the school of thought that increased safety against terrorist attack is worth these reductions in freedom. What say you, readers? Freedom or safety, which is the better goal?
