Wonkette Joins The New Klan

Time was that the Ku Klux Klan donned robes and targeted free blacks for intimidation, ridicule, even violence and murder. The targets were often successful in business or had committed the sin of simply being; there was something about them that infuriated the haters enough to target them and all too often, act.
The Klan often marked the homes of their targets with a symbol–a burning cross. The cowards would light their cross afire in the safety of a dark night and with their faces obscured by hoods. Having lit the fire they would run to the woods or hills, to watch the reaction their handiwork inspired and to keep their identities secret. By day, they might be the local barber, the baker, even the sheriff or preacher, with clean scrubbed faces and a smile for everyone. By night, they were sheet wearing devils, focusing the rage from their own impotence on The Other. The hoods kept the daytime community leader’s identity separate from the vile rider of the night, though they were always and everywhere, the same twisted person inside.
It’s fair to say that in terms of tactics, the Klan (or its ideological descendants) has changed a great deal. It still targets minorities for intimidation and ridicule. But instead of burning a cross on their lawn to mark them out, its haters publish the target’s personal information on the Internet where any unhinged nut can read it and act on it. Most of them still don a hood to protect their daytime identities–the hood in this century usually being a pseudonym on a blog or an anonymous email account. Or they hide by faking racist conversations to put vile words in fictitious people’s mouths–words they believe themselves. And the weaker among us cheer the lynch mob from the tall grass, lacking both the courage to stop it and the guts to join it–making it reasonable to wonder that when push comes to shove, just which side the weak man will join.
Am I saying that those who spend their time attacking my friend Michelle from so many racially-charged angles are members in an organization called the KKK? No, I am not. Am I saying that many on the left’s behavior today carries a great deal more than just an echo of the old circle of hate? Yes, I am saying exactly that. It is an undeniable fact that they are targeting her and marking her in part because of her ethnicity. That is racism, identical in spirit to that practiced by the Klan.
Those who are the most guilty of these practices will mock and protest this post the loudest. That will only prove my point. We have a new kind of Klan among us. It’s on the political left, hiding behind false names and burning virtual crosses and drumming up new racist smears every time my friend opens her mouth. Its tactics have been updated, but its hatreds are no different from the Klan of old.
What can we do about this? First, identify it and criticize it for what it is. All people of good will across the political spectrum should recognize and even ostracize these haters. But second, and perhaps more importantly, pray for the haters. We are all flawed in our own ways, but only a deeply corrupt and unhappy person can come up with the kind of smears routinely leveled at my friend, who is without a doubt one of the nicest, most talented and hardest working people I’ve ever had the privilege to know.

The don’t like a non-white to not be on their political plantation. It goes against their vision of themselves as the great dispensers of tolerance and equality. They can barely conceive that a bright, intelligent, hardworking minority may see the Left’s philosophy of state-dependence and politically correct-to-a-fault as the ultimately destructive vision that it is. It burns them to the core that wonderful and successful people like Michelle Malkin, Shelby Steele, Condoleeza Rice, and Alberto Gonzales are out there living the American Dreamm and fighting for the Conservative vision for America.

Disgusting cowards. Their jealousy and pettiness descend into childish mockery while they encourage each other into a mob feeding frenzy. Mobs arent brave or clever, mostly mobs are mindless in their idiocy. Ignore them Michelle, they want attention.

That’s exactly right Bryan. Michelle is a beautiful and successful woman, a fact that drives these losers to a frenzy. They call her ugly; they call her stupid; they say that she isn’t a real journalist; but deep down they can’t escape the realization that they can’t match her talent and intellect, and they certainly can’t refute her arguments. All they have left are infantile insults that even junior high school kids would regard as lame.

I couldn’t believe the post on Wonkette. It was rude, distasteful and completely void of substance except hatred. I read it and honestly thought of kids in the school yard laughing within their little group, making fun of another person. I was amazed at how base, juvenile, crass, and cruel it was. There was no point to the post but to be cruel. And what? Readers go to the site, read it and feel somehow… WHAT?… What do they feel? It’s so inconceivable that reading such a cruel, disrespectful post could be amusing. Even for all my disgust at Hillary, I wouldn’t be amused if someone wrote such vulgar things about her. Who is reading this? Who is the audience?

They are perhaps more dangerous now as physical barriers to those who would fan the flames of hatred are largely eliminated. They do not need to change into their hood and cloak, physically move their hateful flesh across town and torch the cross in person – perhaps risking exposure or a tell-tell injury. No, they may spew their frothy hate and provoke the tiny reptilian brained “sleeper cell” racists to do their dirty work – much as was done to Theo van Gogh at the hands of Mohammed Bouyeri.

Dunno if you already got this…
Im just writing you to say that im sorry that that Alex Perrone, or
whatever his name is, said
those things. I know racism sometimes needs to be fought head on and
you’re spot on for calling
him on it. It’s pretty crappy that yesterdays hipsters think racism is
“sassy.” Anyway I’ve
scanned over what you wrote about him, but the picture with the “thick
50’s glassed,
metrosexual-teenybop-bandbutton art school” look said it all. The real
tragedy strikes home when
one considers how many of these pretentious and unoriginal looking
bed-headed man-boys are
harvested out of Americas shopping mall dressing rooms every year.
It’s like an army of sissies,
who think that gossiping like viscious 16 year old brats somehow lets
grown men off the hook for
being racists. Don’t let such an unoriginal person who thinks he’s so original, get you down.

GREAT post: they “think that gossiping like viscious 16 year old brats somehow lets grown men off the hook for being racists.” BINGO.

Allah, I was pleasantly surprised to read your “pray for the haters” in the above post. Not that I know you well enough to be surprised by a ‘pray’ suggestion from you, but by the fact that prayer is seldom offered as a solution anymore. At least not out loud.
We hear of prayer to kill those who disagree, harm those who disobey, and even prayer to destroy entire countries. But I firmly believe that God would not have anything to do with these atrocities.
So to “pray for the haters” sums up briefly and succinctly the Truth about God, and the main difference between peoples today.
People around the world are subjected to classrooms that teach them to hate first (the Saudi Muslim class rooms, the Ward Churchills, etc) and so as the students now go thru life that is just what they do. Often the only way for them to feel power or their narcissistic need to feel ‘better than’, is to attack others. This pitiful attempt to “belong” is sometimes all they have, and when it doesn’t work, they just do it again louder.
So, good for you, and Michelle, for saying out loud, pray for the haters. It is a possible solution, and it surely can not hurt anyone.

I rather pray for Michelle, Laura, and Ann.
I rather wish them to be strong, healthy, and wealthy.
I rather pray for their safety that they can continuously stand and speak for the truth and justice.
I am not a great person. I cannot find sincerety in my prayers even if I force myself to pray for them A$$holes.
Sorry, I just cannot do it.

I look forward to the day when Wonkette and all of her unoriginal enablers are a distant memory.
That day is coming, sooner than we think, and it will begin only after our country has paid a heavy price (ie: 9/11 with nukes)
She and her sick enablers don’t realize we are in a WAR!
She can get away with it now because the large majority of Americans are silent, but after 9/11 II, they will rise up and be heard, and she will be gone.

I’m with you Easy, I can’t bring myself to pray for pond scum. I’ll do my praying for the good guys.
And to you “Mr.” Pareene (a far more respectful title than you deserve), grow up and get a real job punk. You can’t even think about, much less be, the professional journalist and honorable person Michelle is. You make me sick.

I think we all realize why Michelle has not allowed comments on her own blog-as a buffer so that she isn’t subjected to these vile, evil attacks. She’s posted exerpts from her e-mail-that must be pretty tough reading.
Stand strong, Michelle. You’re not alone-the beliefs which you take such flack for are shared by millions of us who respect you.
If any good comes out of attacks on you, it’s that the bigotry and racism displayed may cause some younger people to reject the Liberals.

THANKS Bryan, truly. And for the rest of you for catching it.

Michelle originally allowed comments on her blog, no?
Very well said, Bryan. It way well be “minority” women that save the planet, and the left is entirely freaked out by it.
Condi, Ayaan, Michelle, Laura, Tammy, Orianna, Wafa…and many others that aren’t coming immediately to mind.
Good strong hands and good strong voices, all of them Ladies to the last. We have good reason to remain hopeful.
Pablo on May 21, 2006 at 6:17 PM
This is all just normal behavior for the Left. What else do they really have to offer? If they put aside their hatred and discussed their actual beliefs, such as abortion on demand, capitulation, surrender, massive tax hikes, Socialist dogma, soft on crime, etc, then they would be in an even worse world of hurt.
William Teach on May 21, 2006 at 6:25 PM
Michelle,
It goes without saying, so I risk redundancy in saying that we respect what you do and love the person you are.
So….PLEASE…keep a “Lady Smith” handy at ALL times.
I know; I know; you have kids. But think…those kids need a mother, a great mother (and I’m sure a great father) to forge ahead and carry on the good fight.
We need you now, as do they, so be forearmed, dear.
It’s good vs evil, and I sense evil is very, very worried right now.

I used to try to debate liberals. But very few are actually able to debate. If you get them into a corner (Usually accomplished by your first sentence) they immediatly raise their voice by 4 notches, blame it all on bush (doesn’t matter what you are talking about) or just start cussing and denigrating the character of the person.
Every single slam I have seen against Michelle is juvenile, hatefull, rascist and mostly uninteligable. Yet everything Michelle has said, even her “Attacks”, have been well thought out. She details the complaint, supports it with reasons, and does not resort to anything more derogatory then “moonbat”.
That is the distinction between a lovely lady of class, wit and poise and the frothing masses of those who hate.
Michelle is in a big club. Thomas Sowel, Ann Coulter, and dozens of others I can not begin to list are all members. Be proud Michelle. You are in great company.
Wyrd on May 21, 2006 at 7:21 PM
I agree with the KKK analogy.
I wish that we supporters of Michelle had an alternate means of sending her words of encouragement, other than sending her e-mail, as a way of countering the hate mail that she receives.

I hesitate to draw comparisons and analogies between Wonkette and the Klan. Liberals have an odd way of selectively using racial or ethnic insults to degrade and marginalize, while simultaneously celebrating racial diversity in other contexts. Once a minority defects from the liberal establishment, he or she may be abused with racial epithets but the use of those words apparently does not degrade the minority as a whole (in their minds). Cases in point: Clarence Thomas (”Uncle Tom” to liberal blacks), Bill Cosby, Debbie Schlussel (called Jewish epithets by liberal Jews), and now Michelle Malkin.
By identifying this practice, I by no means imply we should condone it. But viewed through the funhouse mirror of liberal thought, Wonkette’s site’s attack on Michelle Malkin was purely personal, and not indicative of deeper racial hatred towards Asian minorities generally.
Sometimes humor is misunderstood. I thought long and hard on whether the comments were mere burlesque as they appear on their face, or if they had a deeper insight. The best I could come up with was that the insult was actualy directed at the rest of us (fans of Malkin), implying that we only pay her mind because of her minority (exotic?) status and not because she has anything worthwhile to say.
But that’s a stretch. Ultimately the comments on Wonkette’s site were juvenile potty humor, not deep racial hatred comparable to the Klan.
papermelech on May 21, 2006 at 9:39 PM
In playing devils advocate I would suggest that Michelle’s race isn’t the issue. They attack her for her views which are difficult to argue against, thus they retort with sophomoric racial epitaphs.
As for what we can do about this, I personally copy, and send the most ignorant of the comments right back to the authors with the advice of reading their prose to their parents, then inquire about the cost of their education. As A is equal to B I believe that my requested action would shed light on the true source of this disgusting dogmatic filth as well on many of the problems associated with it.
Today we hear from the Liberal Media how college graduates are incapable of showing respect to those who come to speak at their commencement. No one is suprised by their actions, and no one points to these children as prime examples of why America has hope for the future. I see that as taking for granted the demise of liberal ideology.
Either we have a real problem in our institutes of higher learning, or liberalism is too attractive to those who refuse to think for themselves. We shall continue to work to remove illegal aliens from America so as to make cetrtain there will be jobs availiable for the laziest of liberals.
DannoJyd on May 21, 2006 at 9:43 PM
I’m not sure if I agree DannoJyd. Her race is exactly the issue. They don’t bother trying to argue with her logic or her positions; they simply go for the lowest grotesque way to insult someone. This after years of the Democrat party almost completely successfully burying the truth of their shameful civil rights past and making it sound as if the Republican party is the party with the poor civil rights record. Not 3 days ago, Harry Reid denounced another Senator as racist for suggesting English be the primary language of the United States.
It’s a disgusting, degrading comment, made all the more offensive by how lightly it was tossed out there. It’s like making sex jokes at a funeral.
Yes, I realize this is nothing new. Ann Coulter has a whole chapter on arguing with liberals and how quickly it descends into cheap name calling in Slander; I’m just shocked by the casual vulgarity of it. Every time I think the left has hit rock bottom, they lower a steam shovel into the trench and start to dig.
austinnelly on May 21, 2006 at 10:09 PM
LBJs Great Society programs destroyed more black lives and families than the KKK ever could or did. The liberals’ hatred and plantation head patting of minorities has been with us ever since they locked up the minorities’ vote in the 1960s.
The current KKK hates Michelle, and others like her, because she is a “double minority” who simply will not stay on the plantation. She will not shut up, sit down, and vote like she’s supposed to, so they must try to destroy her, less she ‘infect’ others.
Labamigo on May 21, 2006 at 10:46 PM
Empty-minded, superficial, shallow people always flap their gums with insanity. Most people on the Left have nothing reasonable or credible to say, they don’t have any logic argument so their only resort is to make personal attacks.
You know that a person is weak when he or she has recourse to personal attacks. It is his/her only way to express his/her opinion.
It is that simple.
Michelle, if I was you, I would’ve ignored those subhumans and wouldn’t have wasted my time playing their childish games.
But it’s your call.

One more thing… I never really gave this Wonkette too much of my time, I just now went to the site for the first time in many months and I saw this under her week in review:
“Tony Snow gave his first televised press briefing this week. It was about as funny as – cancer.”
Nice… If this liberal is supposed to be compassionate, I would hate to see what the hateful ones are like.

I would argue that the only time a conservative might want to “chat” with a liberal is when he or she has time to kill and/or to take a break from serious matters and belittle oneself to a subhuman dimension for a little bit to experience or to taste the insanity of an emty-minded subhuman leftist-liberal-democrat-tree worshipper.
CatholicConservative on May 21, 2006 at 11:36 PM
It was interesting to read the Wonkette site and the commenters there who gleefully piled on their hateful rhetoric, and then to contrast those posts with the ones appearing here on hotair.com.
I don’t recall anyone suggesting Wonkette has certain skills with ping pong balls. Nor should they. Attack the idea, not the person.
If only the haters on the left would keep that lesson in mind.
Dave Shay on May 21, 2006 at 11:59 PM
“If only the haters on the left would keep that lesson in mind.”
What lesson? They would ask.
The only lesson they know is HATE. Starting by hating America and finishing by hating and even physically attacking those who disagreee with their empty or stupid arguments.
Ummmm Am I talking about the Muslims here too?
There is no difference between a Muslim and a Liberal, in my opinion, when it comes to HATE.
All I’m saying is avoid the Liberals. Do not hate them as they hate you. Just stay away from them and defend yourself if they physically attack you. Other than that, the encounter is always at the polling places.
CatholicConservative on May 22, 2006 at 12:12 AM
Does anyone recall any of the racist, homophobic nonsense to come out of the mouth of James Carville as supposed ‘humor’?
The last one I can think of is when Bush won re-election, and he was on a tv panel where the question was, “Does Bush now have a mandate?” and Carville joked, “The only one I know with a mandate is James McGreevey!” He was the Govenor of New Jersey who was outed as gay. The entire panel cringed at the bad taste while Carville howled.
Doug on May 22, 2006 at 12:18 AM
Race is a deep, complex issue that predates human history and runs the gamut of the sciences, from genetics to psychology.
Humor is simple. You’re funny, or you’re not funny. If you’re funny, you can even joke about race.
Alex Pareene is not funny.

Isn’t it funny that Democrats always claim they are just telling a joke when we catch them making comments that would have Archie Bunker blanching? From Hillary’s joke that Ghandi worked at a gas station, to liberal insults towards minorities in the GOP, intolerance of race is the hallmark of the Democratic Party.
Snake307 on May 22, 2006 at 12:44 PM
Let’s see. According to the above posts, Dems/liberals are: racist, homophobic, hate America, have empty and stupid arguments, are subhuman, flap their gums with insanity, and are(my favorite) “juvenile, hatefull (sic), rascist (sic) and mostly uninteligable (sic)”
Now the point here was what again??
honora on May 22, 2006 at 1:19 PM
“Diversity” comes with a heavy price, and is only skin deep when practiced under the liberal umbrella. Time and time again, when so-called “minorities” stray from liberal dogma, we endure racial mockery absent an actual argument. Intolerance comes out when we crush their logic and impale their ideas. I’ve been there. The jokes vary, but the shock turned hate is always the same. Keep your head up, MM. None of those “gago” clowns is worthy of you or your time.
