Pull out of Iraq now

I don’t care how much progress has been made. There can be no peace with such people.

Not now.

Not ever.

Update: It’s official. He’s the David Hasselhoff of the Islamic world.

Update: Only tangentially related but I’ve been looking for an opportunity to link it: doesn’t this prove the flypaper theory in retrospect?

Tell me how to win your heart
For I haven’t got a clue
But let me start by saying, I love you…

Hearts and minds, people. Hearts and minds.

You have to be nut to call for pull out now. Do you know Iranian can work with the Shiite to shut down the oil supply? Do you know Russia will be happy to see oil skyrocket to 100 dollar a barrel?

Do you know the Democrats would love to see that happen even if it means that we have to pump 6 dollar a gallon gas?

Face it, we are there for OIL! Imagine if we are not there now and Saddam still controlling the oil.

This is the reality as long as Americans are out for cruises and making love to their SUV! Blame us.

I thought Michael Jackson had that honor all locked up, when he started rocking burqas in Bahrain.

Kid from Brooklyn on May 19, 2006 at 10:37 AM

See, if the Dems just mentioned this, we’d all agree to get the hell out!

Scary!

libertarianuberalles on May 19, 2006 at 10:39 AM

Hey, easy87us…take a deep breath.

It seems that Allah’s tasty brand of sarcasm is hard for you to grasp; so break out the crayons, and the construction paper…I’ll try to explain.

This post discusses Lionel Richie’s success in the Arab world, and is not an actual war rant.

You can put your tinfoil hat back on now.

Thank you.

Kid from Brooklyn on May 19, 2006 at 10:40 AM

At least it’s not Boy George!

roninacreage on May 19, 2006 at 10:52 AM

Hilarious piece AP

Let’s see if I follow the update tangent…Jihadists leaving a Lionel Ritchie loving Iraq for Europe…

Are we talking Secret Weapon? After all, they can’t hide from him forever…

Does anyone know if Ritchie V2.0 sings?

52Ranger on May 19, 2006 at 11:07 AM

So check it out 52Ranger:

Imagine the “Flight of the Valkyries” scene from Apocalypse Now, bou with “All Night Long” blasting from the speakers instead.

“Smell of Victory”, indeed!

Kid from Brooklyn on May 19, 2006 at 11:12 AM

Oh what a feeling-
To be dancin’ on the ceiling.

But not for women, because the hibjab would fall upwards and expose her skin, and that’s immoral and immodest.

BelchSpeak on May 19, 2006 at 11:18 AM

Does this mean his daughter will start wearing a burka? ….one can only hope.

moonsbreath on May 19, 2006 at 11:26 AM

You know what? Ritchie had a lot of hits, alone and with the Commodores, so if Iraqis enjoy his music, great.

Doug on May 19, 2006 at 11:38 AM

So, who’s “Lionel Richie” is he a real person? Ain’t been no real music produced since 1938 and the Carnegie Hall Concert except during that very brief period during which Buddy Holly delivered his wonderful music.

AP needs to start using a 2X4 the next time he’s got a point since some, see above, didn’t get it. Or, even better, perhaps AP needs to put a colored label on his next such effort!

Better be careful, though, cuz Murtha might grab this as another “reason” to scoot whilst he tries to pull defeat from the jaws of victory!

DougW on May 19, 2006 at 11:42 AM

Should we be there now? Would our Founders have gone there in the forst place? What if Kerry was President? It’s like the saying goes, “If ands and buts were fruits and nuts…”

Anyway, in retrospect, perhaps it would have been a good idea to have considered just taking out Saddam and friends, by whatever means, and walking away. Followers of the “religion of peace” have been killing each other off fairly well over the centuries. Leaving a huge power void there would have probably kept them busy doing that for awhile longer.

Instead, those at the helm chose to try a more humane idea, one that would make a great many peoples lives better, hopefully, in the long run. It does make you wonder what action the Democrats would have actually taken, if any, or if they’d have just mimicked the French and chosen to surrender from the start, and began teaching Islam in the public schools here in the hopes that Islam would spare their pitiful lives, at least for awhile.

We are there now, and only a fool would not realize that leaving now not only spells DEFEAT, but would make a bad situation even worse.

Just as idle hands are the devils workshop, liberal minds are foolish minds, always living in a self created false dreamland while ignoring history, and reality, on purpose.

NRA4Freedom on May 19, 2006 at 11:47 AM

When Murtha and the liberals want us to pull out, it has to be wrong to pull out.

Simple logic, but always right.

Lol!!

Here’s something else funny I ran across.

Trout Fishing in Afghanistan!!

http://www.break.com/index/troutfishing.html

Looks like our boys are making some progress training the new Afghani Army!

venmax on May 19, 2006 at 12:24 PM

AP! You had me laughing at first, but the last link sobered me right back up.

NTWR on May 19, 2006 at 1:42 PM

AP, that was hillarious!

Good job.

“There can be no peace with such people.”

LOL!

EFG on May 19, 2006 at 1:46 PM

“It is pretty much impossible to organize the surveillance of several hundred people across Europe,” he said. “Effective surveillance of one person requires an absolute minimum of 12 to 15 officers. Multiply that by several hundred, and you need thousands. And even then, we’re talking about a makeshift operation.”

Gosh, it almost seems like jihad and international terrorism would be easier threats to deal with if you could arrest people for them.

Can you imagine? German sabotuers and assassins cross the borders in WWII and European neighbors just want to moniter them? Hello? Is this war on? Anybody out there?

The Apologist on May 19, 2006 at 1:54 PM

If we pull out Iraq now it will revert back to its former self, or probaby worse. Pulling out of Iraq now would be worse than what happened when we turned our backs on Vietnam. We would any lose respect we have in the Muslem world, any respect we have in Europe, this is absolutly defeatist.

birdman on May 19, 2006 at 4:48 PM

Allah, it would be worse if we pulled out; they might start taking financial advice from Paris Hilton and child care tips from Brittney Spears.

Don’t give in! Peace does not come without sacrifice!

Excellent post, BTW. You almost had me.

Jezla on May 19, 2006 at 5:07 PM

Now I finally understand jihadists. If I had listened to all that Lionel Richie, I’d want to kill myself too.

arkansasmike on May 19, 2006 at 8:41 PM

“Trout Fishing in Afghanistan!!”
Looked like a catfish to me, but still entertaining.

As for the Lionel Ritchie thing, I’d rather they fell madly for an artist who has been openly supportive of our troops, such as Toby Keith. That aside, Allah once again makes us laugh (needed right now), as do the commenters.

We shouldn’t have to worry about them going nuts for Babs Streisand, what with her being a Jew and all.

Bellicose Muse on May 20, 2006 at 12:38 AM

Lionel Richie??

BWAHAHAHAHA!!

…..It’s true! Music really *CAN* sooth the savage beast!!

:)

VonHelton on May 20, 2006 at 10:21 AM

The Dems are racing each other to see who the first one will be to call for a withdrawal right before the Generals actually announce it. Pathetic really.

Brian on May 20, 2006 at 12:16 PM

Here’s my list of bands that we should also send them: The Clash, The Atomic Playboys, The Bulletboys, Iron Maiden, Stormtroopers of Death, and most all, The B-52’s! Did miss any?
