So, just what does Churchill actually have that differentiates him from the janitor? His degrees are meaningless, based on this investigation. His research is less so.

Honest Injun!

With no offense meant to anyone Native American.

Where in America do we find the most anti-American leftist moonbats? Why, in scools. “Teaching” our children.

MalkinFan on May 18, 2006 at 9:41 AM

“So, just what does Churchill actually have that differentiates him from the janitor?”

He’s an effective radical anti-democratic, anti-American, socialist/fascist propagandist. That’s about the first requirement to teach at a university these days.

modifiedcontent on May 18, 2006 at 9:55 AM

This vent by itself was great except what was the relevance to current topics. Yes, Ward Churchill, Chief Neverwas and Pure Whiteeyes, is bad news as are the other so-called teachers mentioned in the vent. But, so what in terms of other more pertinent issues of the day?

Immigration is going to remain on the front burner for quite some time, especially the issues of border control, law enforcement, and immigration/citizenship quotas.
General Hayden’s confirmation is a critical point. Iran’s intent to acquire a nuke is very pertinent! Federal budget bloat and “earmarks” are another critical topic.

So, perhaps this vent was right on target and perhaps not. What is on target is how we consumers will “buy” this product, which personally I do like and want to see succeed. But, then I always preferred Beta to VHS, another astute decision of mine. Guess I’ll have to wait along with everyone else to see how well this Hotair product sells.

DougW on May 18, 2006 at 10:12 AM

That was downright frightening.

Chilling.

For most of my life I’ve resisted using a certain charged word, a word that represents a concept that I wasn’t sure even existed – at least not in real, human form.

I’ll use it now. It’s a word that, sadly, is becoming more and more apt for the American left, for those who pretend to support freedom while attacking it, to those who crow proudly over mass murder via terrorism.

The word is evil.

I don’t use it lightly. But it’s the only one that fits.

What I just saw – what I just heard Ward Churchill speak – is evil. Real, live, breathing evil.

And the fact that he preaches evil while pretending to battle evil is what makes it so insidious. The young impressionable students may sincerely believe they are doing good.

Of course, how they can beleive that murdering innocents, “fragging officers,” and applauding the 9/11 attacks is anything BUT evil is simply beyond me.

It is evil. Liberalism is, in fact, the greatest evil of our day. Perhaps in our history.

Why? Because the other great evils – fascism or communism or even terrorism – are plainly evil. They can be seen and defeated.

Liberalism hides. It hides behind a faux facade of … well, liberalism. It pretends to be good. And it is so, so seductice. It is the evil of lowered expectations, of an insistence that we are all the same regardless of effort or merit, a demand that all receive equal reward despite differences in how hard we work. It is a benign, soft acceptance of mediocrity as excellence.

And from that comes the twisted acceptance of Churchill and his ilk. “Fragging” officers, desecrating revered symbols, murdering innocents …. all become acceptable because of the weak evil of liberalism.

The other evils could never win. Liberalism COULD win, because it is so soft, so gentle, so appealing to the weak minded.

It is absolute evil. And Ward Churchill is its spokeman and poster child.

Professor Blather on May 18, 2006 at 10:28 AM

I am a college professor who can attest that the problems exemplified by Ward Churchill mask a much deeper malaise in the social sciences and humanities in academia, especially in literature and the various ethnic studies and women’s studies programs. Persons are routinely hired on the basis of leftist ideology rather than professional competence. Leftist groupthink now characterizes many academic programs everywhere with dissenters remaining quiet or rendered marginalized.

Those deemed to be “protected minorities” in short supply are often exempt from formal requirements for academic positions and sometimes even an expectation of basic competence. Ward Churchill is a prime example as he was hired by a state university with a strong academic reputation even though he had only an M.A. in a field at best only marginally related to the position applied for from a mediocre (some would say flakey) school and had not even started work on a Ph.D. Had he applied for the position as the “white” that he happens to be rather than as an “Indian,” which either biologically or culturally he most definitely is not, his application would have been tossed into the waste bin with contempt by the hiring committee.

Churchill’s fraudulent research would have received immediate close scrutiny had he not written viewpoints popular with the American- hating left. His padding of his publication list by submitting his droppings to decidedly non-academic left-wing ideological rags greased his advancement to full professor, especially as reviewing committees on tenure rarely scrutinize either publications listed on vitas or who published them. Nonetheless, the fact that Churchill could become a full professor without even starting on a Ph.D. is breathtaking when one considers that because there is a present glut of Ph.D.s in the social sciences and humanities, many competent possessors of recently acquired Ph.D.s will never achieve their dreams of a tenure track job in a respectable institution.

Repulsive as Churchill’s views are to me, I would still respect him if he were a serious scholar contributing to academic knowledge through is research and writings. His rise to head of Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado is a blot on that institution and a condemnation of the politically correct attitudes that allowed it, but it could happen almost anywhere in academia, including the school I am at.

ptolemy on May 18, 2006 at 10:34 AM

I remember seeing a cartoon years ago that showed Fidel Castro, clad in his trademark olive drabs, asking himself where a washed-up old Communist could go after leaving dictatorship. The next panel showed him wearing a huge smile, seated behind a desk in an academic office. On the desk was a nameplate saying “Professor Castro”

If these people hate this country so much why do they continue to live here? Yes, the college profs get great pay (I work at a university) and benefits, but surely all of these people hold some other country as a standard-bearer, or at least in higher regard than the U.S. I’m guessing it’s Cuba. They should go live there and live the dream.

Bellicose Muse on May 18, 2006 at 10:38 AM

I guess maybe the reason that we are no longer able to identify sedition in the United States for what it is, is because we can’t even identify treason when liberal minded Democrats have displayed it right under our noses.

Apparently, in our current enlightened progressive society, free speech trumps aiding, abetting, and comforting the enemies of our Nation.

Now, anti gun zealots believe that they are going to finally be able to skirt the 2nd Amendment(having for the most part failing to accomplish it in other ways) by getting a Democrat in Office who will sign an anti gun treaty with the United Nations, call it an agreement instead and bypass most of Congress. With the current goings on about illegals becoming citizens and getting to eventually vote that politicians seem so intent on, does anyone really need to wonder anymore why liberal Democrats and RINO’s really want to take away everyones guns???

Ward Churchill is an example of the Communists agenda to take over america without firing a shot.

In the early ’60′s during the days of the “former” Soviet Union, Russian Premier Nikita Kruschev pounded his shoe on the podium of the United Nations and shouted to the West, “We will bury you!” Fearing an invasion from the Reds, America proceeded to build the most awesome military machine in history. Unfortunately, we forgot to guard our political homefront from being taken over by socialist – communist – liberal activists who would gain office and destroy American law by process of gradually installing the Communist agenda within our legal system and seperate branches of government. The Communist program from the start has been one which sees their revolution of 1917 succesful only upon total domination of the world.

ScottyDog on May 18, 2006 at 11:08 AM

Ward Churchill is an example of a professor whose aim is to take over America from within.

In the early ’60′s during the days of the “former” Soviet Union, Russian Premier Nikita Kruschev pounded his shoe on the podium of the United Nations and shouted to the West, “We will bury you from within!”

Fearing an invasion from the Reds, America proceeded to build the most awesome military machine in history.

Unfortunately, we forgot to guard our political home front from being taken over by socialist – communist – liberal activists who would gain office and destroy American law by process of gradually installing the Communist agenda within our legal system and using the Colleges and Universities to indoctrinate.

Ten Planks of the Communist Manifesto

1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rent to public purpose.
The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the Bureau of Land Management.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
Misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State “income” taxes. We call it “paying your fair share”.

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
We call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
We call in government seizures, tax liens, Public “law” 99-570 (1986);
Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of “terrorists” and those who speak out or write against the “government” (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process.

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
We call it the Federal Reserve which is a credit/debt system nationally organized by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the State.
We call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver’s licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.

7. Extention of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
We call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture. As well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Evironmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.

8. Equal liablity of all to labor. Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
We call it the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two “income” family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920′s, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Fedral Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
We call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public “law” 89-136.

10. Free education for all children in government schools. Abolition of children’s factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.
People are being taxed to support what we call ‘public’ schools, which train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based “Education” .

Great Vent Michelle!

“NRA4Freedom” was close when he said:
“I guess maybe the reason that we are no longer able to identify sedition in the United States for what it is, is because we can’t even identify treason when liberal minded Democrats have displayed it right under our noses.”

Close, but I believe we can identify sedition and treason when we see it but because of left influence it has become accepted and even encouraged – even in publicly funded schools. Mecha is a good example – and the system funds this type of organization without consent of those that are forced to contribute with student funds. Any objection and one is labeled a racist.

The issue is that because of left values sedition has become accepted and encouraged. Any views that are not consistent with the views of the left are censored and punished under the mantra of not respecting others rights, racisim, or something similar. Political indoctrination into views of the left has become a requirement to acquire professional credentials – and our tax dollars are paying for this abomination.

It makes me ashamed that two of the soi-disant “teachers” highlighted on your list are from this great state of Colorado. We’re better than that, really!

I’ve already announced my intent to vote down funding increases for CU as long as they still employ Ward Churchill. Perhaps I should do the same for the Cherry Creek School District (which I happen to live in the area of, so I can vote on their funding increases, too) as long as they still employ Bennish.

dhimwit on May 18, 2006 at 1:04 PM

I must disagree somewhat w/ dougw. The back to back profs above, Professor Blather and ptolemy, said it so well and I believe this IS THE issue of today. For years we have let our fears of PC and affirmitave action and other leftist pressures guide our actions. People pleasing and fear have driven this country for so long we forgot how to stand up for what is right. It takes a black man to tell black men how to act, Bill Cosby can do this. It takes a black man to write a book about “White Guilt”, thanks Shelby. We have allowed fear and PC to drive us from doing and saying the things that made this country great. Slowly but surely, the fear ate holes in our society and in that vacuum a cancer grew. Liberalism is evil. I think we did see it, but chose to look the other way.Thinking, this great country will be alright. But it is not. The first one to truly stand up against any evil of this sort, in a new way, was O’Reilly last night. Maybe the Mexican run against America is a blessing in disguise. Where are our laws and values, or why aren’t we putting them first. Is our fear, fancied or real, going to destroy us?
WAKE UP AMERICA, we are losing the war against evil. Some evil is in the form of terrorists, some of it has manifested itself very close to our children, as teachers and professors. Fear and evil are invading our everyday life, this IS the issue today. Dont turn away or allow yourself to be distracted from the truth any longer.
All of the issues Dougw mentions, I believe, are caused by someone looking the other way, or fear driven PC letting ‘it’ happen at sometime in the past.
now before I begin ranting….

It galls me that tax dollars are going to those who advocate violence towards Americans and victory for our enemies.

Akweth on May 18, 2006 at 1:17 PM

I guess the downside is that Churchill will have more time to spend with the Sheehanactivistas before election day.
Again and often, read Hugh Hewitt’s book, “If It’s Not Close, They Can’t Cheat-Crushing the Democrats in Every Election and Why Your Life Depends On It.”
Paint your blue states red, to discourage and defeat the Ward Churchills, Senators Kennedy/Clinton/Pelosi and company. It is that important.

Doug on May 18, 2006 at 1:29 PM

Shooter’s got a point here. One can imagine the sort of academic support the open-borders/amnesty/reconquista movement enjoys from academic posers like Ward Churchill. It’s too easy to separate this into one single issue. there are ideas and spokesmen pushing this agenda and it’s good to see who they are and how they think.

Besides, not all of us want to discuss all immigration, all the time.

Having had one of the boys from left field teaching my daughter journalism a year back, I couldn’t help but laugh at the look on her face as she’d describe, in detail, the agenda-based portions of his class. (Said professor seemed to be just barely to the sane side of “Conspiracy Theory”)

The real advantage of raising someone who thinks for herself was watching her sort the BS out of the class, take the practical knowledge, and get what she needed without having to play the suck-up. She took his final project, which involved research into an anti-terrorist surveillance program he was obviously taking a potshot at, and put together a balanced viewpoint piece…Instead of tilting it in the direction he wanted it to go.

The words “balanced viewpoint” were his, by the way, which only goes to show you that even the moonbats can surprise you sometime…But I doubt old Ward and his crew would have given her an “A”.

Kiddies, tell them what you want to tell them. Not what they want to hear. At the end of the day, you’ll always feel better for it.

The great irony of “Better Off Blue’s” mindless rant above is that he entirely misses the point of this particular vent:

In this case, lovely Michelle was really NOT important; it wasn’t her words that struck me so powerfully, it wasn’t her opinions that chilled me bone-deep.

Instead, she just stepped aside and let the liberals speak for themselves.

Do you get it yet, Blue? The reality isn’t that we are listening to Malkin – it’s that we are listening to YOU, and that what we are finding is evil. Truly evil.

A challenge for you, if you have the intellectual honesty to face it: rather than offer sarcastic snipes, why don’t you try to actually DEFEND the SUBSTANCE of what Ward Churchill (and the rest) said and did.

Support killing military officers. Support the idea that 9/11 was a good thing that we should have done ourselves. Support showing gradeschool kids biased, vulgar political propaganda. Support desecrating the free speech rights of others and violating sacred symbols. Support cheering the murder of innocents.

I dare you. I dare you to try.

Why is Church still being addressed as “professor.” He doesn’t have a PhD!!Given that Churchill never had a Ph.D. in the first place, though, why did the University hire him in the first place? And quickly promoted him and give him tenure, and then make him Chairman of the Department of Ethnic Studies? Now, they’re being soft on not wanting to fire him but suspend him.

Criminy!

Yes, indeed. Isnt it strange that after a generation of affirmative action and mau mau-ing, we have reached the point where a it is reasonable to assume that a minority in certain professional positions is automatically assumed to be a “minority hire”?

I admit that often, not all the time but often, when I see a minority lawyer, banker, physician, etc., I automatically assume they are a child of affirmative action and that they achieved their position for some reason not related to talent or ability. I do not like feeling that way — I really do not consider it fair.

I worked as an answer point for a interpreting service a few years ago and we were having real trouble with several workers taking extra long breaks, regularly showing up late, curt to the point of rudeness with clients and co-workers, and apathetic in general with regard to the job. The company directed us to grit our teeth and pick up the slack because whenever they let someone go, they would get hit with the inevitable lawsuit.

When a new hire showed up late on the third day of employment she was worried about losing her job, and said so. The woman on the other side of me waved it off and said: “They cain’t fire you. You black.” I was positively incensed, because you know what? She was right.

Thank goodness we had some fine black employees(including our supervisor) who didn’t pull the race card and condemned that BS (not out loud of course). The homosexuals were even worse, much worse, not to mention having to listen to that nauseating fake lispy voice (what is up with that anyway?)and simply having to look at the ridiculous, cross-dressing, militant morons. I saw many employees get shown the door for daring to complain about having to do their job along with their own.

Well, the company finally got sick of it and moved to Panama citing the ridiculous laws in the US. Too bad. It was a great job to have for a full time student.

It infuriates me that we are held hostage by these worthless idiots.
