NC town officials: let illegal immigrants vote

“Hoy marchamos, mañana votamos” indeed:
Thousands of immigrants come to this country every year illegally. But some Carrboro town officials want to give those immigrants the right to vote.
“Immigration is a really positive thing,” Carrboro Mayor Mark Chilton told NBC17. “Lots of immigrants make a really positive impact on our community.”…
Sen. Ellie Kinnaird represents the voters of Orange and Person counties. She said the proposal is a non-issue because of how difficult it is to amend the state constitution and the controversial atmosphere surrounding immigration in the U.S. today.
Gayle Murrell, a Carrboro resident, doesn’t see what all the fuss is about.
“If they are working and abiding by the law and they are paying taxes — they are whether they want to or not — so they should have some say.”
A quick Google search of “carrboro” and “chilton” reveals this. Imagine. My. Surprise.
Elsewhere in immigration news, Jim Sensenbrenner says Bush lied, enforcement died. And a day after the Mexican government threatened to sue if the National Guard detains anyone coming across the border, they’re promising to “hold us to our commitments” if we get any ideas about extending the length of deployment. Here’s the article in Spanish; reader Kid from Brooklyn provides the translation, which I’m excerpting below. The brass, elephantine balls on these people:
[Chief of Staff Carlos Maria] Abascal Carranza … stated that “the Republic wants full assurance from the United States Government that the National Guard will not, under any circumstance, perform Border Patrol duties; and, in effect, we have received such assurances“…
Abascal Carranza also claims to have had talks with Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who has shown total commitment regarding migrants’ rights, and also stated that this measure poses no threat to increase Mexican border crossing fatalities.
“Mr. Chertoff’s and the U.S. Government’s commitments to migrants’ rights will be very closely watched, because no border security scheme can threaten these rights”, said Abascal Carranza, who also stated that with regard to migration reform, any measures put in place must address guest worker programs along with border security, and can not be addressed solely from a U.S. internal security point of view.
Abascal Carranza stated that the (Mexican) federal government will follow immigration debate in the U.S. “very closely”, and “…will deploy every political and diplomatic channel at our disposal, to promote fair migration reform”.
Bush’s photo op at the border is at 4:45 today. Think anyone will ask him about this?
Update: The business of illegal border crossings. “Merchants sell backpacks, blankets, hats, water jugs, food and clothing for the walk across miles of desert. Smugglers offer deals that cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, depending on the U.S. destination. Dozens of so-called guesthouses rent beds for the night.”

How can one be abiding by the law when in the country ILLEGALLY?
Paul Atreides on May 18, 2006 at 11:31 AM
If illegals voted in that town, they’d probably make it less radical.
Attila (Pillage Idiot) on May 18, 2006 at 11:44 AM
Traitors.
NRA4Freedom on May 18, 2006 at 11:47 AM
Why wait for people sneaking across the border to ‘officially’ become ILLEGAL?
The simple solution is to allow ANYONE to vote! Why not simply send absentee ballots to every person on Earth, in every country, hamlet, village, town and city, and allow THEM to vote in our elections?
Think of it. We could set an example for the entire world.
Obviously I am being facetious — but no more absurd than these village idiots called politicians, masquerading as intelligent beings.

I really feel sorry for the decent people in that town. I agree with Allila. The inmates have taken over.

For Christ’s sake! (Can you say Christ anymore?) Anyway, even after being caught with $40,000 in uncut cocaine in the car she was driving, the Texas MSM calls her a “Mexican National!!”
She’s a felon, damnit! Get it straight A FELON!!! (Oh I’m sorry. She didn’t know what was in the car! How un-Mexican of me!)

Sure, I believe the little illegal immigrant girls story.
She first broke the law by coming here illegally, then attained a fake ID (2 Strikes), then had $40,00 worth of cocaine in her car (Your Out).
A good example of why these people should be returned to their country of ORIGIN.
No time spent in our prison system.
Immediately taken by authorities to their homeland and left.(Let them deal with them)
Americans need to stand up and make it heard when they see or know of illegals in the US. Let the local authorities know. Call the INS, Border Patrol, Customs, anyone that will remove them.

Sure let the illegals vote, and be sure to sign them up for
bank loans, give’em high paying jobs and free educations.
Reward them, give them Amnesty. If we’re going to be picking
and choosing which laws we’re going to ignore, let’s go ahead and void out the laws pertaining to murder. Oh and pedophilia
too.
All of the proponents deliberately avoid the problems the uneducated, undereducated and unskilled bring with them. Like diseases not seen in this country in generations, and in some cases never seen before in this country.
The proponents true agenda is crystal clear to undermine and destroy the infrastructure of this country by overwhelming all of the systems with countless numbers of illegals.

Maybe we could elect HAMMAS into NC office also?
Go ahead, let anyone vote. You fools.

I linked to the Carrboro impeach site emailed them this: International Answer, and Not In Our Name both anti-war groups also want to impeach Bush, International Answer is A front for Workers Word Party (Marxist Lenninist), Not In Our Name front for Revoulanary Communist Party (Maoist). Before I give you any money or help to impeach the Bush REGEME i’d like to know what form of Social Utopia you strive for. Are you Troskyists? In closing i’d like to say the votes of illegals in Carrboro makes the town less radical this I oppose. One last thing I would like a photo of Jeeni Criscenzo in A burka, shes hot. Thanks Attila

Lets all head down to the Sh%thole Mexico and demand their rights and their liberties then try to vote.
Kramer on May 18, 2006 at 1:39 PM
I’m with Kramer- who the hell do these people think they are?
Of course it is partly our own fault- we have let this stuff slide for decades now.
But no more. Shut the damn border. Now. And yes, deport every damn last illegal alien we can find.

Abigall Adams: I’m with you girl 100%.

Looking at a map I see that Carrboro is right next to Chapel Hill, another liberal utopia.

In the news today, a story that humans may have continued breeding with chimps even after the species split. This looks like the result (along with many years of drug use).
I’ve been wondering why eveybody says we can’t deport all 11-12 million illegals - how do they know? Bush said we’ve deported 6 million already, so what’s the problem? Even if we couldn’t, what’s the excuse for not deporting as many as we can?
ChelleFiche on May 18, 2006 at 2:51 PM
It would be cheaper to deport them now!
The future financial burden they and their descendants will have on every aspect of our economy will easlily surpass the price of Gas and Man hours to bus them back.
Bush must be planning something big with these ILLEGAL IGNORANTS:
First Amnesty, then Voting, then changing the rules on how many terms the President can serve.
Probably even allowing an American Citizen not born in the US to become President. (Arnold)
I will loan out my Truck to the cause. (Probably get 20-30 in the Bed, and 10 in the back of the Cab.
12,000,000 Illegals divided by 40 illegals per car or truck = 300,000 vehicles
Not bad……
I’ll even make 2 runs for the Border.
Who’s in?
Kramer on May 18, 2006 at 3:04 PM
Hey Kramer! How about we all pool our ceor pacos, and run hundreds of want ads in Mexican newspapers. Do you think they’ll all leave on their own. They can read can’t they? (I’m apologize, that was insensitive! My bad!)
Dread Pirate Roberts VI on May 18, 2006 at 3:36 PM
Due to its proximity to Duke University…Carrboro has always been a left-leaning college town.
From Town of Carrboro’s website: The town, commonly referred to as the “Paris of the Piedmont”… [Piedmont being the flatlands/agricultural area of NC]
Still with every visit home…I see more and more instances of liberal-influenced political correctness around my home state.
Damn Yankee northern aggressors are gonna turn my beloved state into Vermont.

Besides knowing comonly used phrases learned at the construction site most illegals cannot speak or write in English -
++++Nor can they write their own language……
Lose - lose situation.
Kramer on May 18, 2006 at 3:48 PM
I keep telling my brothers that they’d better start paying attention to what’s going on around NC lately.
Otherwise its gonna end up the California of the East Coast.
The Ugly American on May 18, 2006 at 3:52 PM
Here’s a test:
If you know of any Illegals around where you live.
Approach them and ask them if they can spell a word in Spanish for you.
Let’s us the word “immigration”
Spanish Spelling = inmigración
Odds are they won’t even get close!!!!
Pretty sad.
Kramer on May 18, 2006 at 3:53 PM
Carrboro, North Carolina is a oil slick in the road about an hour north of Charlotte. Only things there are 7-11s, bus stops, chicken franchises, illegal Mexicans (apparently) and junk cars. Carrboro is the kind of place you don’t notice when you drive through it. This is one way for it to get on the map, however: become the first official Mexican town in the United States. Official. That means Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and other destinations of la migra don’t count. Maybe Carrboro can print it’s own money and field it’s own army. Right. An army of Mexicans.

How does it feel now that everyone is a member of the Democratic party?
clyde on May 18, 2006 at 4:03 PM
I was told at the Carrburg inpeach Bush that would send me an email right back. I’m still waiting. I don’t understand theres no protests any where today is there.

The Mexicans are taking a siesta.

clyde: Now that I’m a member of the Dimmocrap party I don’t know how it feels because the first thing I did was to run outside and ask the Mexican (illegal) of course mowing my lawn. if he had any herb to sell me (pot) to the people here that are still right-wing nut jobs, and I lite this pipe of herb wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwow.

Doing the jobs the folks in North Carolina won’t do. I wish I could send all the MS13 gang members to their town that inhabit Houston.

This is nothing new. In 1996, when I lived in Orange County CA, the bilingual education debate was in full swing. I remember a quote in the paper from an illegal mother in which she said “We should be allowed to vote, this affects our children.” I guess she wasn’t part of the Clinton/Gore illegal voter registration scam that went on in 1994. Anyway, the day I read that was the day I decided we needed to move…

This all makes my head ache… and I don’t get them normally.
You know, folks, there are a LOT of really strong brains here, with conviction and principle. Remember the impact the straight talk from the Swift Boat crew had during the ‘04 election?
Pick one of these hot button articles and read through the comments… pretty strong and with full, rich flavor, eh? Does it make your react? Of course it does! We need to share these with others who are not active… our friends, neighbors, workmates (the LEGAL ONES)! …Because these comments are motivating. We need to motivate the people of like minds that are inactive now. Lots of them (most?) care, but don’t stay informed.
I can remember clearly, during the Clinton nightmare years, the feeling that I was on an “island” and MUST BE the only one who could see the damage that was taking place. Of course, I wasn’t, but it was getting active and talking and sharing ideas that finally removed that notion. And then I worked really hard, just like you all did, I’ll bet. And then we won a majority that… HAS FAILED US!
We need to do it again. A damn near complete and total wardrobe change is in order. We need to USE our good minds COLLECTIVELY towards the common good we all envision. Maybe it is better stated to say it would be towards removing the common bad we all see!
There have been good ideas put forth. I like dumping the 17th Amendment… what would it take? How to get it rolling, effectively? Thoughts? Comments?
I also like the idea of these comments, from these blogs, getting assembled into a letter form and sent to every House and Senate member in Congress. Daily! Day after day, until it gets noticed! Michelle could perhaps call attention to this in appropriate venues… like “Hannity and that idiot Colmes”, Bill O’Reilly, John Gibson, Heartland, etc.. Is this not grassroots at its’ purest??? We are the constituency and our voices should be heard! Your voices are the rawest, most unadulterated appeals from the mind and heart I have ever read… America needs the opportunity to read/hear you, too!
I also think we should appeal to someone like Hannity to give TV exposure to Michelle’s Vent a couple of days back… reminding the people of how the 9-11 terrorists got their documents before flying into the Pentagon. Comments? Michelle, are you listening?
These are important items that might make a difference and we could be the catalyst. If not us, who then?
I have almost zilch for time (mom is sick with cancer and I have a wife and a biz that I run completely alone… no illegals under my roof!)… but I find the time to make comments and stay informed. Just as ALL OF YOU DO, TOO!
If we all put our heads together and give just a little piece of our time, effort, talent… focused on a common goal… what can we do to make a difference???
I would sleep better knowing I tried, and maybe even failed, but DID SOMETHING MORE than just comforted myself by sharing my observations with the rest of you.
My state has two Rhinopublicrats who are firmly clasped in the arms of the liberal hijackers that have taken over my home state. They are lounging in the power and security the libs have bestowed upon them and are actually running UNOPPOSED in November.
So I have decided to look at getting the effective message out on a national basis. I don’t know what might be the best way to proceed, but I want to try.
So this post is my food for thought for all of you… ideas? thoughts? criticisms? gears turning yet?

Not an hour ago on KFI (local Socal) radio I heard a Latino politician say that he was going to see to it that one million “immigrants” get registered to vote. And yes, he made no bones about it, this was a threat.

Just a thought. Find a congressman that talks like you want them to talk. i.e. Tancredo. CALL that persons office and ask them how you can get involved in your own area. You will find an approach that has experience and some power behind it. IF your own state has GOOD conservatives to learn from, call them. They will talk to you. If you cant get thru to some one like Tancredo (he’s pretty busy these days) his office and many reps. offices have fine staff to assist you.
Like you hinted at above- be PRO-ACTIVE, not Re-active.
Glad you brought it up.
