Ayaan Hirsi Ali: hero … and illegal alien

As Chris Rock said, “Prejudice makes no sense, because whoever you hate is going to end up in your family.” Not a perfect fit for the situation here — “hate” is too strong a word vis-a-vis illegals — but not completely inapt, either.

CJ is shocked that AHA’s political opponents want to throw her to the wolves. JG is not, and offers a way out. Expect the boss to chime in tomorrow or Monday, as the lure of having two pet issues in a solar eclipse will likely prove irresistible.

Lefties should pounce on this story since it’s an easy gotcha against righties who take a hard line against illegal immigration. But they won’t, of course, because Hirsi Ali’s not even on their radar. That leaves it to us, and for us, it’s a catch-22 and a no-brainer: the idea of Holland banishing the model westerner to Somalia is unconscionable, which means there’s no choice but to argue, in this case, for amnesty.

And why not? I have no problem with the fact that illegal aliens who serve in the U.S. military are fast-tracked for citizenship. I’d have no problem with reducing the sentence of an inmate who escaped from prison and then spent ten years doing good works before they were caught. Extraordinary service warrants extraordinary forbearance. Hirsi Ali is arguably the greatest champion of western values on the international scene right now; in refusing to tolerate Islamist intolerance, she’s … doing a job Europeans won’t do.

Call it “earned citizenship.”

“earned citizenship” she’s deserves more then that!

Ayann has more integrity than 7/8″ of the morons in Congress, and practically all of the European politicians.

Make her a citizen and then fast track her to lead The Netherlands out of the dark ages!

the idea of Holland banishing the model westerner to Somalia is unconscionable,

Not so much when that model Westerner is ruffling the otherwise enormously peaceful muslims into a murderous frenzy.

Plus, she’s probably not “authentically” black, African, Somalian, etc… She’s problematic. You know the drill.

Ayaan, there’s plenty of room at my place!

Pablo on May 14, 2006 at 7:09 AM

What gets me is that she readily admitted her immigration status and the terms of it when she ran for the Dutch Parliament. Now, all of a sudden, there’s a problem.

As one LGF commenter put it, “she should be deported. Straight to the US Senate.”

Carvin Guitar Man on May 14, 2006 at 10:28 AM

Ya think she might be eligible for political asylum? Duhhh!

If the Dutch don’t have the spine for it, then she is welcome here. As with Pablo, I’ve got plenty of room at our place for her; as an honored political refugee, NOT an illegal alien.

The arbitrary legal system seems to be ubiquitous. What laws really matter and when do they matter? How can a country turn on one of its best leaders after 3 years (knowing all the while) and throw her out?
But let an alien people (muslims) demand rights?
Yet in our own country, we seem to allow aliens to dictate what we can do with them also. Most having broke 2 to 3 laws just by starting their first day of work. And we are the ‘mean’ ones for enforcing existing laws?
Why are so many (_____fill in____) allowing these disruptive and damaging invaders to tell us what we should do? Have the terrorists won? Are we so afraid of repercussions that we do as they demand?
In Holland and in the USA, and ???
When laws are twisted to throw out the good, or ignored to let Illegal Aliens stay, what have we become? Which laws really matter?

Amazing
An illegial alien that elite liberals don’t like, fascinating!

Btw many ‘normal’ Dutch citizens are livid about this BS

Defector01 on May 14, 2006 at 12:08 PM

Let us not lose track of the reality of the situation. She LIED on her application. She is an ILLEGAL ALIEN who should be DEPORTED out of the Netherlands. Let her run for office in some other country, NOT the country she LIED to get into.

Like the United States of America.

Condoleezza Rice and Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
The Republican Choice for the 2008 Presidential Race!

Yay Condi! Yay Hirsi!

Come on, I hope you all didn’t think I was serious when I was slagging Ayaan Hirsi Ali, did you?

EFG on May 14, 2006 at 2:25 PM

Wait, I thought libs were for Illegals running things.
I’m getting tired of the libs “The law applies for thee but not me” attitude.

Iblis on May 14, 2006 at 2:26 PM

Bring her to Atlanta and we will run her against crazie Cynthia! I guarantee her election!

labwrs on May 14, 2006 at 3:20 PM

EFG, ya almost had me goin’ for a minute there. AHA can stay at my house and run against Bill Nelson, or maybe take JEB’s place as Gov of Florida when his term is up.

Condi ‘08!

Tony737 on May 14, 2006 at 3:28 PM

Hey! We need them here in California! She’d make a MUCH better senator then Boxer OR Feinstein! And she’d also get alot of the illegial immigrant vote

Defector01 on May 14, 2006 at 7:07 PM

If the Dutch wants a future without Islamic supremacy, they shouldn’t deport her, they should let her run the otherwise doomed country.

defender on May 14, 2006 at 11:19 PM

This emphasizes the real immigration issue: numbers. Of course the integrity of the system doesn’t collapse if you amnesty a single person who has made herself desirable to the country. Nor does a single alien flatten wages, banrupt social services, cram the prisons, flood the hospitals, etc. Numbers, numbers, numbers. There should be no apologies for discriminating case by case.

Ali, by the way, is typically left-wing* dense about immigration; as she said in a video interview posted here previously, she thinks the economic necessity of immigration is a given and that wanting to reduce immigration is dangerous xenophobia. Both parts of that are wrong. And all her speeches about the Enlightenment or whatever will accomplish nothing as long as the unenlightened are reinforced by endless tides of immigration.

(*In fairness, the Wall Street Journal right is the same; but that’s not Ali.)

Alex K on May 15, 2006 at 2:29 AM

For those who are suggesting AHA become a Senator or Veep, the Constitution would keep her from doing the former for 9 years, and can never serve as Vice President or President. In the meantime, I look forward to Michelle introducing her to the gang at Fox News, where she’ll undoubtedly become a regular contributor to panel discussions.
