Yoo hoo! Sweet Vent, as usual.

whatnext on May 10, 2006 at 9:58 AM

This is getting to be a disgusting travesty. For my money if there is not an effective border security plan provided by congress by the end of the current session, it will be time for a tax revolt.

MikeG on May 10, 2006 at 10:07 AM

What kind of people work for the Border Patrol? Who hires the Borger Patrol employees?

I can see the ad:

Help Wanted:
Do you want to sell out your country?
Are you good at tattletelling?
Equal Opportunity Employer – Enemies of America encouraged to apply. (no background checks!)

Minutemen need not apply – you might actually stop the flow.

Richard Davis on May 10, 2006 at 10:29 AM

It will be a great day in America when the INS is as feared as the IRS.

Is there any irony in the fact that tax forms come in English and Spanish, yet instructions on how to apply for foodstamps come in 14 languages (that I know of.)

Wander on May 10, 2006 at 10:31 AM

If you go to Google image search and enter “minutemen” it’s funny what comes up. There are a few Revolutionary War images but the photos of Nazi- saluting Confederate flag waiving skinheads outnumber any shots of American Citizens simply trying to enforce a border.
Our pals at Google make it clear that the Minutemen are vigilantes. And racists!
There seems to be a common theme to many of these vents. The government we formed to attend to our business has been hijacked. It has been replaced with bums and traitors who would have us hurt or worse if it meant keeping their jobs.

Gault on May 10, 2006 at 10:51 AM

When is President Fox…opps Bush going to wake up and do something about this. How about all the pandering Senators on both sides. No one in DC has the balls to step up and do what they are sworn to do, protect the citizens of THIS Country. Come voting time, any am voting against all incumbents, just to make a change. Could it be worse. me thinks not.

Wade on May 10, 2006 at 10:52 AM

So now that this madness is being made public and poll after poll shows that the American people want urn orders secured, we’re going to see candidates for congress in 2006 and president in 2008 run on securing our borders? Right? Yeah sure.

How many candidates do you think will have this issue as the top plank of their platform? Or in their platform at all? Michelle, maybe you can list candidates running for Congress in 2006 and see which ones mention securing our borders as a reason for electing them and those that ignore the issue.

WC on May 10, 2006 at 11:15 AM

Great Vent.. I think the best yet. Srraight to the point and reminding the left that we actually care about issues dear to us… not just defending the party line. There’s minutemen in Massachussets? What for? Either way, I’m joining.

RobertCSampson on May 10, 2006 at 11:15 AM

MMM “Minute Men in Massachuttes” is code name for Teddy and Patrick Kennedy.

Wade on May 10, 2006 at 11:30 AM

Another good Vent. I’m so disgusted with the republicans that for the first time, I will not vote for them. Until they offer someone with at least the illusion of our best interests at heart, I’m going to stay at home or vote for someone that’s got a pair who hasn’t a chance to win.

Yes, I know that no vote is a vote for dimmocraps, but maybe a mass exodus from the RINO party will shock them into actually doing the people’s will. As painful as it is for me to say, Dubya is not the man I thought he was. It becomes more clear to me every day. I used to honestly admire him…Now I just want to puke on him.

ecamorg on May 10, 2006 at 11:55 AM

Gee, Karl Rove is spending full-time in shoring up the GOP’s image for November. This oughta do it. Great job, genius!

dman on May 10, 2006 at 12:30 PM

This is the email I sent to the White House:

Dear Mr. President:

Just when I thought your administration couldn’t be doing less to enforce border security, comes the news that the INS is notifying the Mexican government about the locations and activities of the Minutemen and other civilian groups who are trying to help compensate for your administration’s failure to protect our borders.

This is outrageous!

As a Republican who has voted for you twice, I and virtually every Republican I know are terribly disappointed in your failure to protect our borders, but actively providing intelligence to the Mexican government on how to evade our border enforcement efforts is beyond disappointing.

If you want to have any credibility left with the people who used to be your “base”, you should fire whoever is responsible for this madness, and apologize to the American people for your ongoing dereliction of duty with regard to border enforcement.

Please wake up and realize how completely out of touch you are with the vast majority of your supporters (or should I say “former supporters”) with regard to border enforcement before it causes an electoral disaster for the Republican Party. No Republican I know is excited about voting for a party which seems to have been taken over by the government of Mexico.

Orcaswa on May 10, 2006 at 1:07 PM

If the dems do win in Nov., (I wouldn’t vote for one) and they institute impeachment proceedings against Bush for lying about Iraq and or warrantless eavesdropping, it will be for the wrong reason. He took an oath to enforce the laws of the land and on border security he has not done so. That is reason for impeachment. I am currently a Republican precinct chairman in Texas, never been a Bush hater, but my patience has run out. He still has time to recover by getting tough and doing his job.

Crude One on May 10, 2006 at 1:11 PM

I can’t really comment on the border patrol issue (though I support the Minuteman Project) because I’m in Canada, but I sure wouldn’t want thousands of people crossing my border or property at night. One thing though, I didn’t realize any Minutemen had died defending the border. That was news to me.

foreign_devil on May 10, 2006 at 1:13 PM

Another great vent, Michelle!

My God! WHAT AN ABSOLUTE FLAMING AND DANGEROUS DISGRACE!!!
It is quite clear to me now that the DHS, high ranking Border Patrol agents, and God knows whom else do not want to protect our borders. They do not care to even make an effort to enforce our laws, protect our sovergnity.

THIS IS A SLAP IN THE FACE OF THOSE BORDER PATROL AGENTS WHO HAVE DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY!!!!!!! AND MIGHT POSSIBLY PUT THE MINUTEMEN IN GRAVE DANGER.

The Republicans do not deserve to win elections come November, I am sorry to say. They control the house, the senate, congress, and the White House, and yet, the issue concerning illegal aliens, as well as other stuff, shows me that they do not have the BALLS (pardon me,Michelle)to act accordingly. The safety of our nation is at stake. The sovergnity of our nation is at stake. The prevention of an economic drain is at stake. Our national security is at stake. Indeed, I am tempted to vote for some Democrats come election time for the purpose of disciplining the Republicans.

Pres Bush, Republicans, (and Democrats, as well)…I sincerely hope that Vincente Fox’s secret recipe for PC barbacue sauce is worth it.

Pres Bush, I strongly urge you to contact Michelle, Laura, Monica, Ann, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, and perhaps some conservative and/or moderate Democrats for advice.

YOU AND THE REPUBLICANS ARE IN BIG TROUBLE, PRES BUSH!!!! BETTER WAKE UP IMMEDIATELY AND ACT ACCORDINGLY!!!!!

The False Dervish on May 10, 2006 at 1:27 PM

I lived in Yuma, Arizona in the 1970′s. It’s right down there in the AZ / CA / MX corner. In those days they did fear INS. When “Imigra!” showed up at a business the illegals would scatter as fast they could hoping to escape. Most would get caught, taken in for processing (to make sure they were illegals) and put on a bus. Bus ran over to Mexico and unloaded. Yes, some of the same folks got caught on a regular basis, and even then enforcement seemed to be ‘less of a priority’ during harvest time, but at least they were trying back then.

KCSteve on May 10, 2006 at 1:30 PM

if there’s one issue that is going to hurt the GOP this year, it’s immigration. Not that the democrats have a plan, or even will suggest one, it’s the lack of action that many like myself find frustrating, and will keep people from the polls.

TinFoilChapeau on May 10, 2006 at 1:31 PM

I heard there may be moles in the INS…
Mexican moles…with US Citizenship
Operatives for Fox!
I’m beginning to think the big mole is Jorge Bush

LZVandy on May 10, 2006 at 1:54 PM

Up until this border problem I thought Bush was a great president. I am so sad to see that the man sure has a blind spot when it concerns illegals. He’s the president for legal American citizens, not illegals, yet it appears that he has their best interests at heart and cares nothing for his own people. He’s giving the country away to Fox. Why?

UnEasyRider on May 10, 2006 at 2:38 PM

Michelle, great job. I hope the MSM investigates this and really rakes Bush over the coals for this, so everyone will know. Not that Bush will notice, he’s way too disconnected.

From Dictionary.com:
Treason – Violation of allegiance toward one’s country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one’s country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.
Traitor – One who betrays one’s country, a cause, or a trust, especially one who commits treason.

By the above definitions, Bush, his administration, most of the GOP and the Dems, and most of the Border Patrol top brass are traitors actively engaging in treason. We need someone to run for President who is not bound to the Dem/Rep policy of sell-out. We need a candidate with a platform to STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION and deport all of the illegals here. I sure hope Tom Tancredo runs for President, he’s got my vote!

We could shut down the entire border in one month, if we put 100,000 soldiers there, or maybe even 50,000. We probably spend more on securing Iraq’s border with Syria than we do on our own Southern border! That’s just horrible. Worst. President. Ever.

Fresh Brewed on May 10, 2006 at 2:43 PM

Mad as He11 and not gonna take it any more
“#1 Job is to Protect the American People”
Bush has said that many times. It is why I voted for him after a lifetime of voting Democratic and seeing Dems politicize 9-11. What now is the difference between Bush and the Dems on protecting us by controlling our border in time of war? In defeating our enemies decisively? In spending like crazy? Nothing except the methods of failure. Repubs better start running against Bush or packing their bags because I’m thinking one Hillary scorned may be better than two in the Bush. One more picture of him holding hands with a sheik is all it’ll take.

Reality Check on May 10, 2006 at 4:49 PM

Outstanding episode, and you make a great point about Mr. Fox…hmmm.Fox….

stacyharp on May 10, 2006 at 4:57 PM

Wonderful vent, Michelle. I also wrote the President, my Senators and Representative. Other than witholding my money from the RNC and my vote, I’m not sure what I can do?!?

MCPO Airdale on May 10, 2006 at 5:04 PM

If Jorge Bush doesn’t put our national guard on the border and secure it, Republican WILL lost both houses in Congress and it will be THEIR OWN DAMNED FAULT. Jorge’s approval rate is dismal because he has lost support from his own base. i’ll bet he’d see a 20 point jump in approval if he acted NOW on this issue instead of being the pandering fool that he has become. and i voted for the man…twice. he is the “deer in the headlights.” can someone please stop this insanity?????

pullingmyhairout on May 10, 2006 at 5:31 PM

I sent 50 bucks to the RNC a couple weeks ago. I think i’ll write Mehlman and tell him i want it back.

The Minutemen were BETRAYED by their own government. Sad, really.

This is corruption of the highest order.

Remember the government derives its powers from us, the people. The feds only operate under consent of the governed.

Thomas Galvin on May 11, 2006 at 12:37 AM

I’m not really sure this classifies as “betrayal” considering that Bush called them “vigilantes” from their inception. Still, this news is absolutely outrageous.

Tom Shakely on May 11, 2006 at 2:17 AM

I am not condoning this, but this is what may have happened:

Bush said to Fox, “If the Minutemen catch a horde of illegals, it will be plastered all over the news, I will look bad, and the border will have to be completely shut down.”

Fox then said,”Well, tell me where the Minutemen are and I will make sure no one goes near them…”

And Bush acceded.

Like I said, I am not condoning it but such a scenario seems likely to me.

CaptiousNut on May 11, 2006 at 9:17 AM

I just realized something…supposing if that, because of this obvious betrayal by the Border Patrol high ranking officials and other feds, that a dangerous criminal, drug cartel murderers,WHOMEVER circumvent where the Minutemen are, enter our still somewhat free and great nation, and COMMIT THEIR CRIMES AS THEY GO ALONG THEIR NOT SO MERRY WAY???!!

What if they decide to break in to someone’s home, rob, rape, kill, etc!???!

This means that the oppportunity to stop those genetic accidents would have been lost.

There will be blood on the hands of those BP officials, the feds who permitted this, and of Pres Bush himself.

ALL AMERICANS WHO LIVE ALONG THE BORDER…AND I MEAN ALL AMERICANS (DO NOT BE FOOLED INTO THINKING THAT YOU MIGHT BE SAFE IF YOU ARE OF HISPANIC, ASIAN, BLACK, ARABIC, OR AMERICAN INDIAN ANCESTRY) ARM YOURSELVES, PRACTICE WITH YOUR FIREARMS CONSTANTLY TO ENSURE SAFE AND ACCURATE SHOOTING BECAUSE YOUR LIVES DO DEPEND ON IT. REMEMBER, YOU ARE DEFENDING YOURSELVES AND, IF NEED BE, FIGHTING AS AMERICANS, NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS.

AS AMERICANS!!!!!!

foreign_devil said: “One thing though, I didn’t realize any Minutemen had died defending the border. That was news to me.”

Not Minutemen. Border Patrol.

Though, mark my words, it won’t be long before some Minutemen die. Mexico is running the show and they know it. Their military makes incursions over our border ALL the time, and the coyotes and drug smuggelers traffic with impunity. It’s only a matter of time before their arrogance over their total control of our borders results in their killing our Minutemen under the guise of “protecting migrants” or some such drivel. That will be a dark, dark day. I’m deeply dreading it, though I know that at the rate we’re going, it won’t be long. Unfortunately, it may take that final outrage to finally spur the American people to rise up and ACT in concert.

False Dervish said: “ALL AMERICANS WHO LIVE ALONG THE BORDER…ARM YOURSELVES, PRACTICE WITH YOUR FIREARMS CONSTANTLY TO ENSURE SAFE AND ACCURATE SHOOTING BECAUSE YOUR LIVES DO DEPEND ON IT.

They are already armed. Mothers wear a loaded pistol on thier hips just going about their regular day. You didn’t already know this? Read this article written over a year ago:

Theirs is a life dominated by self-defense lessons, family practice drills to huddle in the master bedroom, obligatory two-way radios for kids who walk to school, and a handgun on the hip for mom.

It’s been like this for YEARS! Americans on the border live a hellish life in a wasted no-man’s land. Their homes and property are already invaded on a DAILY basis. Their pleas for help from our government have been ignored for YEARS.

They know better than anyone else what’s at stake – beginning with the lives of their families. They’ve called it was it is for years now and the rest of the country is just now waking up to it: WAR.

Redhead Infidel on May 11, 2006 at 10:06 AM

Traitors to the United States, appear to abound, and now we learn it isn’t only dimwitocrats, lovely.

Bush’s poll numbers are tanking, he is going down the dark hole, and the rest of the GOP is right behind him, and they don’t even act like they KNOW what to do.

We already KNOW that liberal minded democrats “think” American’s are stupid, now we are finding out that republicans must think so too? Lot of people might be crying in their soup come November, and it will be BAD for America, but it’s almost inevitable now.
