2.69 down the street from me in Corpus. And Rusty, you are FUNNY! i went to UT and loved it, but got out of travis county as fast as i could after graduation. And Gary, thanks for that insight. i just can't believe that the clintoons would profit off of an executive order. what is this world coming to? hehehehehehehahahahaha
GW should sign an order opening up drilling EVERYWHERE. let the courts sort it out after that.
cheers!

Gas is currently $2.69.9/gal (regular) at the Valero about a hundred yards away from me, here in San Antonio. It spiked at $2.79.9 about ten days ago. Regarding the "blue spots" in Texas, note that they occur in two places: along the Mexican border, where illegals outnumber citizens, and a single blue spot in the interior. That spot is Austin, the capital of Texas and the place where we send all our liberals. Viewing is from 9-5, Mon thru Fri. Please do not feed the liberals, as they have been known to take fingers, hands, arms... In the event that you encounter a liberal in Texas outside of the protected zone (Travis County), please do not approach. Contact the Texas Highway Patrol, the Texas Rangers or your nearest rancher to safely capture the liberal and return it to the capitol building.

By the way, gasoline is not that cheap in Texas either. I live in the Houston area and paid 2.89 this morning. I have not seen less traffic though.
This is nothing compared to the Jimmy Carter gas lines of which I can recall trying to buy gas at a Shell station 200 yards from their refinery after Mr. carter "fixed" the oil problems. We could only buy gas on odd days and even days as associated with your license plate numbers I think. I bought me some large military "jerry" cans because of a need to make a trip out of town.

pullingmyhiarout, Clinton signed an order to "prevent" mining for cleaner coal in Utah federal land. So, maybe you are on to something. G.W. should be able to sign an order to allow drilling in ANWR. Of course, Bill and Hill got a nice profit from the Indonesians currently supplying the coal.

High gas prices don't hurt me one bit, since I don't own a car. That could be considered another advantage to living in fly-over country (and the smaller towns and cities therein).

The libs are getting what they deserve. libs=environment=gas additives, limited refining, limited exploration=higher gas prices. They tax it to death and then have the nerve to complain about high gas prices, price gauging, BIG BAD OIL, arrgggg. It's really BIG BAD GOVERNMENT that's causing this. I can't believe I'm even hearing conservatives SUGGEST that we should investigate BIG BAD OIL company execs for their compensation. i guess we should investigate Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric and all those other talking heads. Are they worth the money they get? Nope. they offer nothing to the american consumer but a bunch of negative hot air. at least the BIG BAD OIL company execs are providing the consumer with a product. but i digress...

Michelle, maybe you can please answer this question: why can't President Bush sign an executive order to open up drilling in ANWAR, and along our coastlines (florida and california)? i read the other day that CHINA is about to drill near Florida - and we can't. what is wrong with this picture?

the answer to this problem is easy - open up drilling, give tax incentives to build new refineries and give tax incentives to produce alternative energy sources.

I'll see that happen when pigs fly.

I'm an idiot, just realized what I just said (above).

It's both parties fault. Politicians are being bought off.

Stop being partisan, stop being politicians, and start solving problems.

How come nobody talks about nuclear power anymore?? Are Americans that scared of it??

In the Navy, all our ships and subs are nuclear powered. THEY ARE SAFE!!

Let's build more nuclear power plants! I was stationed on 4 Navy subs and 1 ship, all nuclear powered, and I don't glow or have 2 heads.

Bush getting blamed for high gas prices is like blaming Doctors for cancer.

It's because of the Democrats that we have high gas prices - no new refineries, no new nuclear power plants, no drilling in Alaska, no drilling offshore - all because of Democrats.

I can't stand it!!! Why can't our elected leaders act like we won and pass some $#@&%#@ legislation that reduces our dependance on foreign oil???
