Peace in our time: Ahmadinejad reaches out

Red meat for useful idiots. After all, “madmen” don’t write letters, do they? He wants dialogue. Let’s reach out!
Lay aside the fact that the letter comes (a) they just told Kofi Annan they don’t want direct talks and (b) we’re already talking to them directly about Iraq and have jack to show for it. Here’s the real question: if the uranium’s meant for energy, not weapons, why is Ahmadinejad telling people it’s going to make Iran an “unrivaled world power”? And why is Sheikh Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, so interested in exporting the technology?
They’re laughing at us, and the more we try to put them at ease, the louder the laughter gets. The latest is some bombast from the German foreign minister about diplomatic efforts being in “the decisive phase,” to which the Iranians have responded, in their usual fashion, by telling the U.N. to get bent. The latest draft resolution doesn’t even threaten punitive action and it’s still being opposed by Russia and China, despite the fact that, as Richard Holbrooke recently explained, those countries have as much to fear from a nuclear Iran as the west does. Bolton’s precis of the situation is right on the mark. Fully two-thirds of Americans are no longer being fooled.
The mullahs announced in late April that they had more “good news” on the way, and sure enough, they had. LGF noted a report last week in Asharq al-Awsat claiming that Iran has already planned terrorist WMD reprisals if we try to take out the reactors. New York City is already preparing mass radiation screening centers for the aftermath of a dirty-bomb attack.
Says Newsweek, it’s all about oiiiiiillllllll.
Update: Looks like they’re going to pass a resolution after all — one that won’t allow for military action or sanctions.

Maybe in reply, President Bush can sent a Xerox of the letter that Jimmy Carter handwrote to Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979.

Doesn’t Islam dictate that he lie to us?

Dear Bush
YOUR A NAZI! We will nuke you and your Zionist handlers
Love
Iran
And this is meant to show that Iran really means peace because they tried to ‘negotiate’

Even though most americans aren’t fooled, don’t expect the washington crowd to do much more than blow hot air at Iran. our politicians have been strangleholed by the politically correct crowd for too long to do what needs to be done to stop this madman. What needs to be done won’t be because we can’t upset the muslims, you know… sarcasm off/ americans in general have lost their nerve and we will pay the price in our lifetime, if we haven’t already…

Ahmadinejad has come a long way since he wore a dress on MASH, hasn’t he? What? Not the same guy? Tried to prove he was crazy? So the military would let him go home? Different guy? Ahmadinejad seems like he’s bucking for a section 8, for sure. Writing to Bush and dictating terms for peace is crazy, indeed. I think it’s a PR stunt. Or he just won a bet with Putin. Maybe Chirac put him up to it. Crazy.

From the article posted on PMSNBC
TEHRAN, Iran – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has written to President Bush proposing “new solutions” to their differences in the first letter from an Iranian leader to an American president in 27 years, government spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham said Monday
Step 1 Accept shari’a law
Step 2 Convert to Islam

Was this letter in Farsi or Arabic? If not, ignore it.

The photoshop here is driving me crazy. Can someone please explain it to me? I don’t get it at all.

Iran. Iran, so far away.
Iran, Iran all night and day.
I couldn’t get away.

Iran wants “dialouge” insofar as that dialouge grants them the ability to do whatever they damn well please.
It’s past time that Ahmadinejad and his regime be taken out.

Ahmadinejad looks more and more like Woody Allen with a beard in “Bananas”

I wonder which infedel group supplied the blood in which he wrote the letter.

It’s just another stall tactic by the regime in Iran. They want to stretch this thing out as long as possible, then, a couple of years down the road, they will announce to the world that they will be testing their new nuclear weapon. This is just getting uglier by the day.

From what I understand of Islam is that a muslim can say anything, to include lying, if it will advance his cause. As long as the lie is directed at an infidel and not another muslim.
The reason islam spread so quickly in the 7th and 8th centuies is not because it is a religion of peace. It is the opposite. They would send notice to their opponents inviting them to islam. When refused, the muslims would attack claiming self defence because islam with their allah and muhammad were rejected. Therefore it was okay to attack, invade, conquer, massacre, rape, pillage, mutilate the infidels in the name of allah, all the while claiming self defense.

The press and the left, oh sorry about repeating myself, will buy this faster than a hippy buying rolling papers in a headshop. You watch, Bush will not be swayed by this and he will be considered the barbarian and warmonger for not accepting this sign of peace.
Even democrats are not this stupid, are they?
dallas94 on May 8, 2006 at 4:39 PM
We owe them a display of just how dangerous nuclear devices can be now that they are reaching out.

Remember Arafat: say whatever the Americans want to hear in English, and say what you really think in Arabic (or Farsi, whatever).
dman on May 8, 2006 at 7:30 PM
You know – one thing we’ve lost as a society is the ability to feel shame. How can professional diplomats at the UN pass a resolution that chastises Iran but will not include sanctions or military action.
Don’t these boobs know how foolish they look on the world stage? What aren’t they ashamed to show their face in public? Where’s the Daily news with a picture of the security council wearing jackasses as heads?
WC on May 8, 2006 at 7:34 PM
I liked what Shimon Pers said, “the president of Iran should remember that Iran can also be wiped off the map.”
UN – Useless Negotiators
I know…let’s send in Jimmy Carter. He has a great record with successful operations in Iran!
What idiot thinks Ahmadinejad can be trusted. Did anyone check to see if he sent the letter with his fingers crossed behind his back?
This is a joke…except without any humor. Too many innocent lives are at risk…including many innocent Iranians.
May God have mercy on us!

So, the world’s village idiot wants to talk about ‘new solutions’ to the world’s problems? Huh? A 9th century-mentality, radical, islamist f***nut thinks he has ‘answers’ to problems HIS country is creating?
I’ve also got an answer for Ahmaweedyweedjahjah: how’s about you take some of that enriched uranium and stick it up your arse?
Wait for the bombs, big guy…
Love always,
Great White on May 9, 2006 at 6:50 AM
Couldn’t we just carry out a nuclear test to show this tough guy how powerful the West’s nukes are? Say, downtown Tehran?
Great White on May 9, 2006 at 6:55 AM
Seriously though, does anyone believe this idiot? Have we not learnt from history and the despots of the last century that they are liars, thieves and criminally insane.
This idiot aims to take the world down a very treacherous slope and will use any brinkmanship he can think of to delay sanctions and use of force until he announces he has enough enriched uranium.
The US and the West must ignore his letter and continue down the path of the Security Council and sanctions and if that fails, military force.
What we do now decides the next 1000 years.
Great White on May 9, 2006 at 7:02 AM
Alex K asked about the photoshop. Jodie foster and Scott Glenn starred in the movie,”Silence of the Lambs” which had as it’s villain “Hannibal Lecter”, as played by Anthony Hopkins. The photoshop replaces Hopkins with Ahmadinejad.
Great white said:”Seriously though, does anyone believe this idiot? Have we not learnt from history and the despots of the last century that they are liars, thieves and criminally insane.”
We didn’t believe Hitler either, but he convinced enough Germans to follow him that they tried to take over the world.
Iran has a population greater than Germany, and is surrounded by other like minded Muslim states, so imagine how WWII would have turned out if Germany could have raised an army of 200 million. Or if Hitler had won the race to a Nuclear bomb, which Ahmadinejad is now claiming.
You are right, Great White-ignore the letter, but I suggest that waiting for the security council/sanctions may dangerous, if it gives Iran enough time to perfect a nuke and attack Israel.
We should act now,and after Iran is crippled explain to any objectors that we had to take Ahmadinejad at his word, so we needed to defend ourselves and Israel.
I believe the Iranian population would love to be free from the rule of the Mullahs, just as Iraqis hated the despot Hussein. But we can’t wait for the Iranian revolution. I hope they understand.
Doug on May 9, 2006 at 11:24 AM
I concur with you totally Doug. Given the option, me personally, I say bomb the nuke plants today until you have 1000ft deep craters. Iran with a nuke is like opening a Pandora’s Box. Once it is out, it is out.
If I were the US President, I would ignore the Russians and the Chinese. It won’t be them that has to deal with Iran once it has the bomb.
I say, prepare for military strikes within the next three months, let the world know it is coming giving Iran enough time to see sense and back down. Even a wounded dog knows when to back off faced with certain death.
