Pelosi was great!! I had to watch Meet The Depressed just because I couldn't believe her advisors would turn her loose, alone, with Russert. Did anyone notice the look on her face when Russert brought up Harry Reid and Abramoff? I'll bet whoever was responsible for booking her on the show is fired this morning!

Bridges was funny, too.

Watched Meet the Press. Steve Bridges made more sense than the laughable Pelosi.

Several questions by Russert made he have that deer in the headlights look. Oops, that is how she always looks.

I finally watch Colbert's entire 24 minute routine at the White House Press dinner and was thoroughly unimpressed. I actually felt bad for him for the mediocre to poor reception almost all of his jokes received.

His show's alright, but he was terrible at the press dinner.

A Wee Hiatus...

Please pardon the light (read: total lack of) blogging this weekend. Things are a little hectic as the final pieces come together for the announcement of the Big News....

This is hilarious, but also really scary that there’s such a difference in the basic, seemingly non-ideological aspects of reality like what constitutes a unique or creative joke:

"Colbert's routine was more remarkable for its ***unique and creative brazenness***. He joked that Bush's presidency is like the Hindenburg; that Bush's wiretappers were monitoring this very event, and that the White House press corps gave Bush a free pass."

The Hindenberg is unique and creative? Particularly as it was in response to the ubiquitous Titanic metaphor? And the wiretapping joke? That's brazen?

"...they helped Bush mix politics with corruption from the ashes of 9/11 ("aircraft carriers and rubble"), and failed to see through Bush's politicization of the drowning of an American city after a hurricane ("recently flooded city squares")."

Thanks for the careful annotation. And, really, **Bush’s** politicization of Katrina?!

It’s impossible to think that every liberal complaint about a right-wing media is a lie; surely a lot of it is dishonest, but to some extent there’s really just this enormous gulf in how the sides see reality.
