As a former police officer I can tell you the show is not too far off from what really happens on police departments. The stories I could tell…the amount of freaks, weirdo’s, and deviates you meet is truly awe-inspiring. Not to mention the ones you work with… :)

I worked with people who reminded me Soooo much of the characters from the show (or vice versa) that it was scary.

Don’t you all remember that during the first Gulf War, the Iraqi propaganda ministry was trying to demoralize American soldiers by announcing that their wives back home were having affairs with various Hollywood types, including Bart Simpson? Here we are more than 15 years later, Saddam is gone, a new government is in place, but Iraqis are still having trouble separating fiction from fact. Perhaps decades of repressive government has eliminated the collective societal sense of humor, or at least the ability to discern fiction from reality. The more things change, the more they stay the same . . . . Kinda makes you wonder if self-government will actually work in Iraq.
