I've picked crops, worked on yards, worked in constuction, did housecleaning, dug ditches, and spent many a backbreaking day in brickyards and lumber supply stores - stocked grocery store shelves and worked the local drive-in, did tickets at the gate, ran the movie, worked the snack-bar, cleaned the lot after everyone left then changed the sign if a new movie was upcoming next day... and through it all, I liked the money at 50 cents an hour on average. The jobs bought my first car and paid for many a date-night on the town. The significance was (and still is) that these are entry level jobs that lead to better ones. I'm still in a 40+ year long job in international satellite that pays very well. So spare me the line, "Jobs American's won't do." We've done them well, and would still do them, if they were offered to Americans at a decent starting wage. Spare me too that American's can't take the rough jobs... many of us did, with no complaints from the employers. The problem today is different - Mexican thugs lean on those who dare to take "their jobs." Too many have faced gangs with knives and guns after work. MM - you've outdone yourself... keep it up.
