Here’s a 2nd opinion from another Doc: While webcasting from the sofa may not seem “professional” to some, I think the approach is designed well to reach the segment of the population that is going to be critical to the future of this country in 10-15 yrs. The tone of conversation here may be very casual, but the content is certainly important and relevant to this country.

Hope you are right. However, I am still pessimistic as I am in Verizon’s service area forever and finally took cable’s triple play offer because I got tired of waiting for Verizon’s DSL to come.

I think municipalities should take it upon themselves to provide the infrastructure, the way they provide essential roadways, water, and wastewater. If treated as a municipal enterprise, it will kill the monopolies as they can allow all service providers to light the fiber and maybe, just maybe, earn a little bit to reduce the tax burden of their constituents.

BTW, not necessarily true. Verizon is planning to build fiber service over their entire network and some of the first areas being built are those older, rundown areas with lousy, neglected old copper networks. It isn’t coming fast, but it is coming! (At least in Verizon areas)

Truekatipunero, If you start the vid and immediately hit “pause” you can watch the light grey status bar and see when the vid has fully loaded, at which time it will play uninterrupted.

Nothing more frustrating than video that keeps locking up in mid-word. ;-)

I believe this new media you have embarked on will be enhanced and really take hold if fiber optic broadband is made available to all. The chances however are not too good for those who resides in older communities, which is about 70 percent of the country, as major broadband incumbents are going to focus fiber deployments in newer and profitable communities. Waiting more than 10 years for fiber optic broadband in a lot of communities will not be uncommon. There is a real technology gap that needs to be fixed.

Hope you can advocate on behalf of us who are clamoring for the availability of fiber broadband.

Unfortunately, my mind is just twisted enough that I was thinking of Weird Al’s parody of that Backstreet Boys song:

Hmm, maybe my wife should do a dance routine to THAT version…heaven knows she spends enough time (and bucks) on eBay…
