Bagged: One Big-Time Terrorist

I thought we didn’t have any allies in the War on Terror. Then what’s Pakistan doing killing off one of al Qaeda’s heavies?

April 13, 2006 — A senior Egyptian al Qaeda member was killed along with other militants during a Pakistani military raid of a hideout in the northern part of Pakistan, sources have told ABC News.

Multiple intelligence sources in Pakistan confirmed to ABC News that they believed Abu Mohsin Musa, also known as Abdul Rahman, had died in the overnight raid.

Rahman was one of the FBI’s most wanted men with a $5 million bounty on his head. He was indicted in absentia in a New York court for his alleged involvement in the bombings of the United States embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and Nairobi, Kenya, on Aug. 7, 1998.

White House Press Secretary Tony Snow should point out this victory in the war, and should pick up where bloggers are leaving off and promote what’s been found so far in the vast Iraqi documents archive.

I haven’t seen a picture of Abu Mohsin Musa – was he an handsom man? If not, I guess that’s bad news for his 72 virgins.
Oh wait, silly me, I forgot the Danish cartoon. I think they ran out of those some time ago.
So on a more serious note, I’m glad he’s no longer a threat to innocent people in this world, but it is sad to consider his TRUE eternal fate.

I hope the baggings continue to get even bigger. These Islamic terrorist nutballs simply need to be buried among pork rinds.

I thank God every night that George Bush is President and not that wimp Gore or the backing rat Kerry who during the 2004 election said he “wanted to pursue a more senitive war”.

I also thank Al Gore for inventing the internet.

Al who? “He betrayed this country!! [screaming] He played on our fears..”! Oh yeah, him! Silly me, I mistook him for a whale.

If only Al Gore would unleash the fury buried deep within his famous lockbox….I might vote for him….oh wait I forgot, this is not Bizaro world….nevermind.

I don’t want to be a kill joy here, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.

“Multiple intelligence sources in Pakistan confirmed to ABC News that they believed Abu Mohsin Musa, also known as Abdul Rahman, had died in the overnight raid.”

It is good that “multiple” sources “believe” he is dead.

However:

“Pakistani authorities are still trying to determine the identities of the slain militants, who were quickly buried in the area, the officials said.”

Hopefully we can recover the body, and when an America on the ground can look straight at the corpse and confirm that “yep, that is him,” I will feel better about it.* Otherwise we run the risk of looking like Dan Rather and believing only what we want to believe.

*Or use DNA or fingerprinting or something similar.

But man, I REALLY hope we got him.

The Afghanis may or may not have killed what’s-his-name, but they did succeed in killing several “militants”. Killing off the head is faster and more efficient, but chopping off one limb, even one finger at a time is still helpful. Whether or not they get to enjoy a gaggle of virgins is irrelevant since they are no longer a threat to us if they are dead.
I’m glad to see the Afghani government taking such an aggressive approach. As Bryan pointed out, we do have allies in teh War on Terrorism. — Liberty

I’m slipping! I meant to say Pakistanis, not Afghanis. Sorry. — Liberty

No problem, Liberty.

A preview button would be nice, wouldn’t it? And maybe a numbering system for each comment like Little Green Footballs.

What do the rest of you think?

I was encouraged by this news when I saw it on CNN’s website. It’s about time these kinds of actions make headlines again. Real news is good news.

Yes… add an edit option, with edit time stamp, and it’s up to speed.

I’m suprised that CNN even acknowledged positive news on the subject.

Oh yeah… a quote feature would be nice too.

I meant CNN’s coverage of the War on Terror.

How do they know who they killed?? do these terrorists carry wallets with their drivers licences in them?

Pakistan is a tough case. They have nukes, and Musharraf has to walk on eggs. Guess we just have to be grateful for whatever we can get.

Yeah’ we have allies. For example, Afghanistan and Iraq, who, if memory serves correct, used to be our enemies. Now they fight side by side with U.S. Troops against A.Q. Hmmm, imagine that, the Bush Doctrine was right all along.

Iran and Syria will someday join us in our Crusa … ooops … in our QUEST to rid the world of islamic head choppers and throat slitters.

I agree with the idea of numbering and time stamping the comments like on Lucianne.
