Such juvenile behavior on his part, too. Reading some past postings and comments of his, I was taken by his non-stop assaults on others by calling them “stupid”, “idiots”, and so on. In other words, if your don’t agree with him, then you are truly ignorant. You expect that from an 18-year old, but not from a middle-aged man. Why do his co-workers put up with his arrogance? I know if he worked with me I’d have him so torqued up every day that they’d have to ship him to the rubber room.

After reading through the posts by Hiltzik and Patterico, Hiltzik comes across as the typical snarky leftist, with the “I’m the smartest guy in the room” attitude that seems to be de riguer (sp) with that set. He thoroghly deserved the slicing and dicing he got. One might say that Patterico “owns” him now.

The “haiatus” was the right thng to do (though not enough in the long run).

I fear that the LATimes is merely trying to weather the storm, after which they will put Hitzlack right back on. We will see that, true to their double standard, they will try to pretend that nothing is “wrong” with the dinosaur media.

What is amusing to me, being a student of history, is that the newspaper game has never been considered one of “high” standing, literary excellence, or one that is expected to be particularly unbiased. It wasn’t until after WWII that papers took on this air of being mere “reporters” as opposed to advocates.

Unfortunately for the newspaper game, it is just that — they are putting on airs. Newspapers have always been assumed to present a “side” in the USA. In the days of the early Republic, political candidates had their very own newspapers to present their opinions on matters of national importance, for instance.

But, now all of a sudden, newspapers are pretending that they are somehow “unbiased” or just giving us the “straight” news! but, this is just a subterfuge for what they are REALLY doing; what they have always done, give their “side” of the issues.

So, if the LATimes reinstates Hitzlack they are ADMITTING that they are pure bias and that Hitzlack represents their point of view, a leftist one at that.

So, now we wait and see what they do.
