Somehow I managed to be in John Linder’s district here in Georgia, supported him, invited him to address my church group, which he did, and was pleased when he was elected. That was back when Dems controlled the Georgia legislature. They gerrymandered (sp) my district, and now it’s the 4th. Believe me when I say I have no representation in the U.S. Congress. It’s a bad feeling to know that. Cynthia McKinney has made not one statement that leads me to believe she represents anyone but racially oppressed folks in her district. To her mind it appears there are no others. So when I drive by what used to be the Memorial Drive exit on I-285 and see it now named the Cynthia McKinney Parkway, I WANT TO HURL.

The trouble is, McKinney’s constituents know exactly who and what she is and they keep reelecting her–just like with a lot of other nuts in Congress. There’s no easy solution to that problem.

Hey, McKinney…the only thing I understand is the 1st Amendment. Oh, silly me! I forgot that the Bill of Rights and the Constitution are written in pencil and only apply to certain people at certain times. I don’t know what got into me.

She certainly does look like a deer caught in the headlights!

Bombast and pretense will no longer serve her. She stepped in it, revealed her true self, and will only exemplify her constituents as identical to her if she gets re-elected. We can only hope, for the sake of her constituents, that she misrepresented herself to get elected in the first place. There has been a whole lot of that going on lately – misrepresentation to get elected.

It really makes no difference; if McKinney is not returned to her seat in the house, her clone will be returned in her place. Districts are currently set up to favor incumbents by about 95 to one. If the incumbent really messes up, then a clone will be the replacement, bet 95 to 1.

Did you see her face when she came back, internally horrified, that her off-the-air comment was actually captured by CNN’s microphone that was still on her? The kind of look you’d see catching somebody with their hands in the cookie jar plus the wild eye stare like a deer caught in the headlight? What do you call all that?

In order to be in Congers, one must have a constituency which elects one. With all the current talk of legal and illegal immigrants and how they must assimilate quickly in order for immigration to be beneficial to the nation, it appears that Cynthia’s constituency has not assimilated over a period of 300 years.

Sigh. When Cynthia was voted out previously, I thought we’d get some real representation for that part of the state of Georgia…shame on Denise Majette for making that bid for the Senate and letting Cynthia back in!

This whole situation is just another version of the insanity we saw with the Clinton administration. Why can’t politicians understand that voters want integrity and honesty? If you do something obviously wrong–admit it. Take responsibility. You do your constituents a disservice when you don’t.

The sad truth, Congress is full of people just like her. They are never wrong and are always wronged. Even though it might appear that CNN is some how showing some journalistic nerve by airing the story, fact is, it’s a safe play, since most of the Democratic party has tried to run from this issue. However, it does do a good job of illustrating what members of Congress think about themselves. They are the parents and we are the children. Do as I say, not as I do.
