CNN burns McKinney – again

posted at 3:24 pm on April 24, 2006 by Allahpundit

You might think, after watching her get served by Soledad O’Brien on American Morning a few weeks ago, that CNN would start taking it easy on Jihad Cindy.

But you’d be wrong. Ian has the video.

There simply has to be a backstory here.

Stay tuned to CNN next week, when an undercover investigation reveals shocking video of McKinney on the toilet.

UPDATE: Direct link to the video at CNN.com is here.

UPDATE 2: Independent Conservative notes that McKinney filed for re-election today. Which, I think I speak for all of us when I say: super.

Blowback

More reinforcement for my amazement that people actually voted for and continue to blindly support her moronic butt.
AMAZING!!!

Tee Hee! Will the real Representative McKinney please stand up?! Victim? or Authoritarian?

Melba Toast on April 24, 2006 at 4:40 PM

Wow, she’s not too bright and very arrogant. Imagine a Republican congressman holding a similar press conference and then telling a member of the MSM that their representation is larger than a “discreet” incident. Guess she was fumbling for “indiscretion”.

smfic on April 24, 2006 at 4:47 PM

She requested something be off the record after the fact? That’s absurd. Funny, but absurd. Any discussion about whether you are on or off the record needs to be done in advance, and she should know that. She likely in fact does know that, but like the police checkpoint issue, she is not willing to pay the consequences for her actions.

hdw on April 24, 2006 at 4:47 PM

Left to her own limited resources this dolt will self destruct . . . soon I hope.

wallyqc on April 24, 2006 at 6:56 PM

Cynthia McKinney can’t remember what she had for breakfast yet she expects everyone else to remember her? Not only is that the height of chutzpa, but unlimited arrogance.

Seolach on April 24, 2006 at 6:57 PM

This woman is a hoot! Next time wear your congressional pin and DON’T wear the TV station’s microphone! ;)

Joe on April 24, 2006 at 6:57 PM

Arrogant doesn’t even begin to describe it. I would be interested in knowing if she has been in this situation before and got away with going “off the record” after the fact.

geekrunner on April 24, 2006 at 7:07 PM

Cynthia is another victim of rightwing persecution. I feel her pain as she tries to feel important and progressive. Her thoughts on extraterrestrial life forms and her prior incarnations as Queen Sheeba, Napoleon and Jaques Chiraq give her incredible insite. People just do not understand her.

vulcan on April 24, 2006 at 7:09 PM

I think you are supposed to define what ‘off-the-record’ means before you start talking, dimbulb.

Martin on April 24, 2006 at 7:10 PM

she and her dad have made a career out of running as black and victimized. unfortunantely, this plays in the dirty south because since i was in jr. high in the mid 70′s, they took civics out of the curriculum, turned history into “social studies” (happened in the 60′s) and in general have inculcated the educational system with victimization politics.

there’s your perfect storm of either planned or unwitting incompentence on the part of the educators/administrators that will be the linchpin upon the survival of western civilization rests. (not that i’ve thought about it or anything!)

blacks and jews and “other” minorities and “disenfranchised” peoples and “races” that buy into the post-great society liberalism pay for their votes and allegiance to the left in ways they can’t comprehend because they were dumbed down on purpose.

whew! (maybe i have thought about it. :) )

JazzBass on April 24, 2006 at 7:11 PM

Can you imagine the field-day the MSM media would have with the assault and this little “oops” incident if the speaker was not a self-absorbed, moronic, flamingly socialistic, race-baiting, liberl Democrat, but say, JC Watts or Michael Steele?

TomS on April 24, 2006 at 7:12 PM

smfc, the word she was using was ‘discrete’, not ‘discreet’. She says enough ridiculous things without having to twist homophones around to make fun of her.

I’m getting this sense of Deja Moo…, like I’ve heard this BS before. Ah, yes. When the student protestors put their home phone numbers on the press release, then took it down off their web page and pretended it was never there. That’s it.

The Monster on April 24, 2006 at 7:13 PM

Yes, sad that she may be re-elected. But then look at NO – Ray Nagin got the most votes there – and he bumbled his way through Katrina and was able to throw blame around and apparently came out looking okay to the people in NO.

themediansib on April 24, 2006 at 7:15 PM

I hope that she stays in the forefront. The right needs to know the many faces of the enemy. She is definitely not helping out her party acting like the true fool that she really is.

bluestarchronicles on April 24, 2006 at 8:04 PM

Her new “DO” makes Lady Cynthia look as if she is auditioning for the Role of Topsy in a down-market “Tom Show”, a theatrical project that once mulcted the aesthetically deprived Yankee admirers of Harriet Beecher Stowe.

She represents DeKalb County of Greater Atlanta, which boasts the political ethics only recently on display in West Africa. In her Weltanschauung, any publicity is GOOD publicity. View her as the low comedy act that she is. Perhaps Speaker Hastert might befriend her and gain her more Press and TV Attention.

Cymphia McKinney is the true face of the Democrat Party. I implore Cymphia and her voting block of “useful idiots” to continue sending her to Washington so the Democrat Party is properly represented. BeeCharmer on April 24, 2006 at 9:19 PM

Dear Cymphia,

You have been maligned by the press in recent days, and you need a diversion story to remove yourself from the headlines.

What has worked well for me is the famous Christmas in Cambodia story. I used this ploy to divert attention from the right wing charges of flip-flop. You can see it worked very well, as the media successfully helped me cover the story.

Trust my advise is useful, and I look forward to your helping me with the black vote in the ’08 presidential election.

Her arrogance has now caused her to become a relentless target of the media…how dare she tell them what they can and can not use! Now that she has managed to make herself nothing more than a joke, the MSM won’t stop until the name McKinney becomes a historical snicker. At least they are good for something.

Cynthia McKinney is about as low class a person filled with self importance as I’ve ever seen. I can just imagine the outrage expressed had anyone from the Bush Adminstration said their faux paus comments were off the record not to be released.

LewWaters on April 24, 2006 at 11:05 PM

Ach! Vas ist! Does Frau McKinney belive that she has absolute control over what is aired? Does she actually belive that she is able to silence the press through intimidation tactics? I am compelled to say that Frau McKinney is more irreprehensible than Herr Bush. Und, compared to her, Herr Bush is a cannonized saint!

HerrSuntaug on April 24, 2006 at 11:26 PM

PoppysBoy on April 25, 2006 at 12:20 AM

Has there ever been a liberal politician that will answer the question asked of them? McKinney continues in the fine tradition of “Hot Air” pols…pontificate on an inane issue that has nothing to do with the question that was asked. Classic. Definitely a poster child for the Democrat Party!!

C McK is by no means the first politico to be busted by an open mic, but she’s certainly first left-wing whacko in recent memory to be so busted on CNN! Yes, the clip was aired on Special Report with Brit Hume on Monday, but CNN? Even after being told through the trademarked McKinney “Threatening Smile with Glare” expression that whatever she might have said when not it the chair is “off the record” and not to be used? CNN? Her comments are not really any surprise, merely more confirmation of her defective character. The only real surprise here is that the clip aired where it did!

Forget the constant dodges of responsibility and the endless race-baiting. Those things are par for the course. What really shocks me is the arrogance of this woman who styles herself a servant of the public.

The idea of a member of Congress telling a reporter what is and isn’t “permissible to be used” should shock anyone who values a free press.

I agree with Allah; there has to be a backstory. This CNN tiff has “payback” written all over it.

mattbramanti on April 25, 2006 at 2:15 AM

OH My GOD!! (Gales of laughter) Every time I think this arrogant (insert-your-favorite-expletive-here) can’t get any more arrogant, she proves me wrong. You can be sure that if a Republican had said this, the press would’ve been on him/her like a starving dog on a pork chop!

She’s great entertainment but can only be taken in small doses.

PChristopher on April 25, 2006 at 2:51 AM

What upsets me about people such as Ms Mckinney is that her false accusations of racism will often cause people to question legitimate claims of racism. Apart from that, she is indeed a hoot and great intertainment. She has filed for re-ellection. Hope she gets the nod. Will be the best source of entertainment since carol mosely braun.

doingwhatican on April 25, 2006 at 8:44 AM

“Media people” — I love it! She can’t even think of the word journalist. Nor does she interview well. It’s clear she refuses to be straightforward, only indicating she has something to hide.

My mother actually had a run-in with her on an airplane about a year or so ago. McKinney was in the seat behind her and when the plane taxied into the airport and parked, McKinney could not exit the plane fast enough. My mom stood up to retrieve her bag from the overhead bin and McKinney shoved her out of the way! Without even an “Excuse me.”

As someone who is from Atlanta, Georgia, I cannot believe the constituents of her area keep voting her in! I remember when she lost, only to be voted back in.

vabirish on April 25, 2006 at 8:49 AM

Does the woman not have any shame ? Of course not. This woman is crazy–the only word to describe her. A normal rational person would have stopped and informed the officer that he/she is a member of congress, but Cynthia Mckinney is not a normal, rational person. She is crazy.

Remember ladies and gentlemen, hitting a police officer constitutes assult and the crazy woman should be duly charged with said crime.

Anybody out there want to lay odds on the probability that this crazy woman will be indicted. I doubt it very seriously –I just feel it in my bones–.

I was down at the Ga state Capitol yesterday supporting US Rep. Tom Price (R-GA)while he was registering to run in the next primary. We all observed this moronic gorgon as she arrived with her entourage. Lots of press, but she would not answer a single question. Just kept up the party line, “I get elected because I told the truth about 9/11 and Bush lied.”, etc, etc. Unfortunately, she truly is representative of the moonbat voters in her district. There is a slice at the north end that tends Republican, but the rest of the district has consistantly elected her with 70%+ margins. Now an influx of about 20,000 Katrina evacuees from NOLA have served to give her a real lock on her seat. But wait….there is no way that they could vote in both places is there?

tetsujin on April 25, 2006 at 9:12 AM

This is a very mad and ignorant woman. Clueless is a huge understatement and very dangerous to the processes we hold dear in this county. I am remined of ” Animal Farm”, where all the inhabitants revolted against the farmer and thought that they could make it better or more equal. Turned out that they were more violent and destructful than the farmer. Very power hungry with little or no ability to rule. I see this more and more in our representatives…but perhaps it is because we are not learning from our past history (it is not being taugh in schools, anymore) the young can’t read a newspaper to make an intelligent decision regarding the issues so they rely more and more on what they see or hear on the TV and radio. We have dumbed down our citizens…so “we get the government that we deserve” as Winston Churchill said. This is sad…we had all better become more informed before the next elections….or we are doomed to the same fate as those poor creatures in “Animal Farm.”

Sandys Beach on April 25, 2006 at 9:19 AM

..oh and one more thing…I checked out the ‘glamour shot”..thank you, poster for that. I was “crying in my beer” about the whole thing and really getting down about where our ‘elelcted’ leaders are taking us and then I saw that picture. hiddennook on April 25, 2006 at 9:46 AM

Why did I leave Georgia? THIS is why. McKinney and her ilk, along with seeing my friends take to a Liberal Arts Indoctirn…uhm…Education without any form of protest. Travis on April 25, 2006 at 10:16 AM

The sad truth, Congress is full of people just like her. They are never wrong and are always wronged. Even though it might appear that CNN is some how showing some journalistic nerve by airing the story, fact is, it’s a safe play, since most of the Democratic party has tried to run from this issue. However, it does do a good job of illustrating what members of Congress think about themselves. They are the parents and we are the children. Do as I say, not as I do.

JB on April 25, 2006 at 10:43 AM

I find her complete ignorance and haughty attitude extremely amusing and I am looking forward to seeing more of her in the future. I sure hope CNN doesn’t lose its nerve and continues to expose her wacky ways to the world.

UnEasyRider on April 25, 2006 at 11:11 AM

Sigh. When Cynthia was voted out previously, I thought we’d get some real representation for that part of the state of Georgia…shame on Denise Majette for making that bid for the Senate and letting Cynthia back in!

This whole situation is just another version of the insanity we saw with the Clinton administration. Why can’t politicians understand that voters want integrity and honesty? If you do something obviously wrong–admit it. Take responsibility. You do your constituents a disservice when you don’t.

firegeezer on April 25, 2006 at 7:12 PM

It really makes no difference; if McKinney is not returned to her seat in the house, her clone will be returned in her place. Districts are currently set up to favor incumbents by about 95 to one. If the incumbent really messes up, then a clone will be the replacement, bet 95 to 1.

basilio on April 25, 2006 at 7:28 PM

She certainly does look like a deer caught in the headlights!

Bombast and pretense will no longer serve her. She stepped in it, revealed her true self, and will only exemplify her constituents as identical to her if she gets re-elected. We can only hope, for the sake of her constituents, that she misrepresented herself to get elected in the first place. There has been a whole lot of that going on lately – misrepresentation to get elected.
