Sunday morning talking heads

Mitt Romney’s still not done smacking Trump, huh? After Friday morning’s speech in Utah and a round of cable news interviews later that afternoon, he’s back for the attack on this morning’s Sunday shows. He’ll be on “Meet the Press,” “State of the Union,” and “Fox News Sunday” to talk about a brokered convention, that mysterious campaign registration form from January of this year that’s now circulating online, and hopefully whether or not Trump ever told him privately that “right-wing crazies” would love it if he went full Birther on Obama. As for how his speech is playing with Trump fans (who weren’t the target audience, of course), it’s going as well as you might expect:

In interviews, even lifelong Republicans who cast a ballot for Mr. Romney four years ago rebelled against his message and plan. “I personally am disgusted by it — I think it’s disgraceful,” said Lola Butler, 71, a retiree from Mandeville, La., who voted for Mr. Romney in 2012. “You’re telling me who to vote for and who not to vote for? Please.”

“There’s nothing short of Trump shooting my daughter in the street and my grandchildren — there is nothing and nobody that’s going to dissuade me from voting for Trump,” Ms. Butler said.

Good news for Trump: As long as he shoots the daughter or the grandkids, but not both, that vote’s locked in. Elsewhere this morning, Ted Cruz will be on “Face the Nation” to discuss his “destroy Rubio” strategy, Marco Rubio will be on “State of the Union” to explain that Trump is a cancer on America whom he simply must support as nominee, and Reince Priebus will be on “This Week” and “Face the Nation” to assess the state of the burning rubble that used to be the Republican Party. Possibly the most interesting interview this morning, though, will be Lindsey Graham, given that he made noises a few days ago about possibly backing Cruz in the interest of stopping Trump. Is he standing by that? What other outside-the-box solutions would he support for beating Le Grande Orange? The full line-up is at the AP.
